Abstract

Football is one of the most prestigious forms of sports that are in great demand by the public. Many football clubs that take part in the competition have a tight match schedule. This causes the recovery time for athletes to be short and lead to fatigue. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of recovery time after the match on the explosive power of leg muscles in soccer athletes. This study was an experimental study with a pretest-posttest group design. The sampling method used was simple random sampling to get 40 research subjects divided into 2 groups, namely groups with recovery time of 2 days and groups with recovery time of 5 days. The assessment used is measurement of explosive limb muscle power using the vertical jump technique before and after receiving the recovery period. To test the normality of data using Shapiro-Wilk continued with the comparative data test in the form of an unpaired t test. The results of the study in groups with a recovery time of 2 days were worth -3.7cm and the group with a recovery time of 5 days was 2.9cm. These results were analyzed using unpaired t-test showing p value = 0,000 (p<0.05) which showed there were significant differences between the two groups. The conclusion of this study is that there is an effect of recovery time after the game on the leg muscle explosive power in soccer athletes. Recovery time of 5 days is better than 2 day after competition. It is very important to pay attention to recovery time in athletes, the recommendation of this study is a minimum of 5 days.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder with increasing mortality rate. Decrease in GLUT-4 levels was found in diabetics resulting in an increase in postprandial blood glucose levels. Various innovative treatment have been developed, one of them is exercise. Exercise is growing fast today, especially eccentric contraction based exercise that potentially increase GLUT-4 muscle’s level. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of eccentric activity on glucose transporter type 4 in gastrocnemius muscle of streptozotocin-induced diabetes mellitus mice. Diabetic mice were grouped randomly into 2 groups. One group was given single bout of eccentric excercise by downhill running on 10o degree decline treadmill and the other group was given eccentric activity by downhill running on 0o degree. The GLUT-4 muscle’s level were measured after treadmill. Data obtained from each group were then analyzed using independent t-test, significant results were found (p<0.05). The conclusion of this study is single bout eccentric downhill running activity with 10o angel increases the levels of GLUT-4 muscles. Abstract

Disorders of concentration in workers can cause workplace accidents due to decreased ability to focus attention when working. The annual work accident rate is estimated at 250 million with 1.2 million people dead. One of the causes of disturbances in worker concentration is the physical factor in the form of noise. One of the high intensity noise is found in the wood cutting industry in Arjasa District, Jember. The aim of this study is to analyze the effect of noise on the concentration level in wood cutting workers in Arjasa District, Jember. This is an analytic observational research with cross sectional study. The respondents amounted to 32 people taken with purposive sampling. The measurement of noise was using a sound level meter. The measurement of concentration level using Trail Making Test (TMT) A and B. Concentration level measurement is done when the respondent has worked for 30 minute. The results of the study showed that the majority of respondents were aged between 25-28 years (28.1%) and had worked less than the same as 2 years (53.1%). The average noise intensity of the wood cutting area was 97.5 dB (A) and the loading and unloading area was 76.2 dB (A). Average noise intensity of the wood cutting area exceeds the noise threshold value. The level of concentration of workers in the wood cutting area is lower than the loading and unloading area workers. The results of data analysis using the independent t test indicate that there are differences in the mean TMT B score: TMT A between respondents who work in noisy and non-noisy environments (p=0,004). There was a noise effect on the concentration level in wood cutting workers in Arjasa District, Jember Regency. Keywords: Noise, concentration, wood cutting workers
