Abstract

Koi fish is a type of ornamental fish whose color and unique body shape are one of the attractions of koi fish. This study aims to determine and evaluate the effect of fasting time on the growth and survival of koi fish (Cyprinus carpio) which are fasted periodically at optimum temperature. The method used in this study was the RAL experimental method (completely randomized design) with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The fasting treatment used was the non-fasting treatment as (control), 1 day of fasting and 1 day of feeding, 1 day of fasting and 2 days of feeding, and 1 day of fasting and 3 days of feeding. Each treatment used seeds measuring 4-5 cm. Parameters observed were absolute weight growth, absolute length growth, daily growth rate, survival rate and feed conversion ratio. The results of the study based on the analysis of variance showed that fasting in koi fish had a significant effect (P<0.05) on absolute weight growth and daily growth rate and had no significant effect on growth in absolute length, survival raet and feed conversion ratio. The best treatment of periodic fasting is in treatment P2 = 1 day of fasting 1 day of being feed.

Abstract

Selection of fish based on DNA markers is a method or technique that has started to develop rapidly in the field of genetics and fish breeding. Selection based on DNA markers utilizes the genetic information contained in fish DNA to obtain individuals with characteristics appropriate to the stages and production of aquaculture in a timely, efficient, and measurable manner. This literature review presents several discussions and literature sources that are quite relevant regarding various aspects of DNA marker-based fish selection, including the basic principles, analytical methods, benefits, and challenges based on DNA markers, and discusses how the most recent developments in the use of methods in the process of genetic breeding and fish selection, as well as the potential for future applications.

Abstract

Accurate determination of fishing zone gives an abundance result of fish capturing. However, fishermen in the north water of Aceh have difficulties in deciding such position and are resulting to the minimum yields. This thesis uses MODIS satellite imaging to overcomes such problem by (1) determining the spreading and SPL variation, and a-chlorophyll in the north water of Aceh, (2) finding the composition quantity and size of fish (Decapterus spp.) from fishing zone, and (3) predicting fishing zone in the north water of Aceh. This study uses survey methodology consist of field data (in-situ) and satellite image data (ex-situ). It is performed by three steps, (1) field surveying in the study location, (2) collecting field data, and (3) downloading SPL image and a-chlorophyll from MODIS satellite. Results found that relationship between SPL and a-chlorophyll toward yields and sizes are non linear, with least square (R2) of about 0.012 and 0.002. Furthermore, SPL and chlorophyll are varied in each seasonal period at the range from 27.53oC to 29.05oC and from 0.20 mg/m3 to 0.26 mg/m3. Sizes of fish captured using purse seine are not complying with the current standard and are included under category of restricted to be captured. Fishing ground Indian Scad (decapterus spp) in North water of Aceh on Pulo Beras and is a potential area, while Sabang, Pulo Nasi, Lhok Nga, Laot Aceh dan Peukan Bada included to medium potential area.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze the influence of Daphnia sp. enriched with Spirulina flour on the survival and growth of Betta fish seeds (Betta sp.) and determine the best dosage of Daphnia sp. that is enriched with Spirulina flour on the survival and growth of Betta fish seeds (Betta sp.). The method used in this research is an experimental method using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications for each treatment, namely, P1 Daphnia sp. enriched with spirulina flour 1 g/L, P2 Daphnia sp. enriched with spirulina flour 2 g/L, P3 Daphnia sp. enriched with spirulina flour 3 g/L, and P4 Daphnia sp. enriched with spirulina flour 4 g/L. Daphnia sp. enriched with Spirulina at different doses in Betta fish seeds (Betta sp.) had a significant effect (P<0.05) on survival and growth performance. The greater the dose of Spirulina flour enriched in Daphnia sp. the higher the survival and growth performance of Betta fish seeds (Betta sp.), and the best treatment is P4 with a dose of 4 g of Spirulina.
