Abstract

This study aims to analyze the function and realization of the meaning contained in the Poda ni Namonangon Ribut as an ancient script text contained in the Ulu Pungkut sub-district, Mandailing Natal district. This study uses a qualitative method with the documentation method in which the data is sourced from the Medan Archeology Agency. Data were analyzed using Systemic Functional Linguistics theory on Ideational Functions and to find metaphors of ideational meaning. The results of this study indicate the distribution of the relational process dominates from Participant, Cirmuntance. The realization of the meaning of the ideational function can be seen in the first, metaphor as a description of the community who want to have offspring, where the aim of Poda is ido napajadi boru "what makes a daughter". In the second, there is a metaphor that explains the word Na sundat realized with the words "Heavy Rain", "Divorce", "Birds perch", "ravine". In the third, shows that Poda has methafora like when the expectation is reached, it is the services of the writer "Shaman”. then when the writer has explained what the ingredients are. Social context of text that has a narrative and the author's conclusion about the solution to the problem of everyone who wants offspring in his family. The tradition of writing with the mandailing script (sumurat) became quite a tradition so that there are ancient texts in the traditional house became the animist beliefs and ideologies which can be seen in Bagas Godang.

Abstract

Abstrak Teks bacaan yang dijadikan bahan penelitian artikel ini dimaksudkan untuk mengetahui bagaimana teks bacaan buku berbahasa Mandarin yang berjudul公主童话 Gōngzhǔ Tónghuà  terbitan Zhongguo banben tushuguan  tahun 2010 dalam mengekspresikan pesan. Dari hasil identifikasi, maka masalah yang dibahas meliputi transitivitas dan struktur skematika. Di dalam penganalisisan transitivitas dan struktur skematika digunakan teori Linguistik Fungsional Sistemik dengan metode kualitatif. Tesis ini berfokus pada konteks budaya yakni pada struktur skematika genre, oleh karena itu, setiap klausa diidentifikasi dan dianalisis transitivitasnya. Dari hasil analisis transitivitas bahasa tersebut, dilakukan uji analisis terhadap struktur skematika. Dengan demikian, dapat ditemukan peran transitivitas terhadap struktur skematika teks narasi cerita anak berbahasa Mandarin. Jenis proses transitivitas yang ditemukan terdiri atas proses material (48,53%), proses relasional identifikasi (2,27%), proses relasional atribut (12,66%), proses kepemilikan (0,98%), proses mental persepsi (7,27%), proses mental kognisi (2,99%), proses mental afeksi (7,20%), proses mental keinginan (3,33%), proses verbal (11,59%), proses tingkah laku (0,98%) dan proses wujud (2,20%). Proses material dan proses relasional atribut berada pada tingkat persentase yang paling dominan di antara proses yang lain. Unsur struktur skematika memunculkan orientasi/abstrak, komplikasi, resolusi, evaluasi dan koda. Berdasarkan sistem transitivitas yang terdiri dari proses, partisipan dan sirkumstan tenyata ditemukan peran positif sistem transitivitas tersebut terhadap struktur skematika yang terdiri dari orientasi, abstrak, komplikasi, resolusi, evaluasi dan koda. Peran transitivitas dalam sebuah teks narasi mempresentasikan pengalaman manusia dan mengisi setiap unsur-unsur pada struktur skematika.  Kata Kunci: transitivitas, struktur skematika, teks narasi cerita anak berbahasa Mandarin

Abstract

Bahasa Figuratif dalam Novel Supernova Karya Dewi Lestari: Pendekatan Stilistika ini merupakan analisis penggunaan bahasa di dalam novel tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan melihat aspek kebahasaan dalam karya sastra. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan tujuan mendeskripsikan pemilihan dan penggunaan gaya bahasa figuratif yang meliputi idiom, metafora, simile, personifikasi, dan hiperbola, yang terdapat dalam novel Supernova. Data penelitian ini berupa kata, frasa dan kalimat yang diambil dari dua seri novel Supernova yaitu Kesatria Putri dan Bintang Jatuh dan Intelegensi Embun Pagi. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik pustaka, simak dan catat. Teknik analisis data yaitu dengan analisis mengalir yang terjadi secara bersamaan, yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Selanjutnya penelitian ini menggunakan metode distribusional yang dijabarkan lewat teknik substitusi dan teknik pelesapan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan gaya bahasa figuratif yang unik menimbulkan efek estetis pada pembaca yaitu penggunaan idiom, metafora, simile, personifikasi dan hiperbola. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa Dewi Lestari sebagai penulis mampu menunjukkan pemanfaatan bahasa yang spesifik dan lain dari yang lain dalam menciptakan karya sastra. Hal tesebut menghasilkan style tersendiri yang menjadi ciri khusus Dewi Lestari dalam menuangkan gagasannya melalui novel Supernova.

Abstract

This study examines the signs, meanings and representations of Indonesian people during the Covid-19 pandemic in illustrations on Instagram social media accounts. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The analysis used in this study uses the semiotic theory of Charles Sanders Pierce's trichotomy (triadic). The data in this study are uploaded image illustrations sourced from the @harimerdeka and @micecartoon accounts. Data collection using documentation techniques. Analysis of the data in this study using the interactive analytical model of Miles, Huberman & Saldana. The results of the study found various signs in the representament and object elements in the form of colors, icons and symbols.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze language politeness on Mata Najwa’s talk show with Covid-19 theme based on sociopragmatic studies. The theory in this study is the theory of Brown and Levinson. Brown and Levinson's theory has 2 politeness strategies, namely positive politeness strategies and negative politeness strategies. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The data used in this study are the sentences contained in the conversational interactions between the presenter and the resource person. The source of the research data is the conversational interaction between the presenter and the resource person. The data collection technique in this study was the researcher working on the data already in the video and then analyzing it. The result of the research is that not all politeness strategies are found in conversational interactions on the Mata Najwa’s talk show. The result of the research is that using a group identity marker (positive politeness strategy) is more dominant than the question/fence strategy (negative politeness strategy).

Abstract

Linguistic Landscape (LL) is a study that focuses on the use of language in public spaces, whether monolingual, bilingual, or multilingual. The growth of coffee shops in the city of Medan is increasing due to the increasing development of coffee consumption so that it appears around the Ringroad road which reflects its uniqueness and various different racial backgrounds.This research deals with the linguistic landscape and the use of certain languages on coffee shop signage. The purpose of this study was to determine the use of language in language in public spaces, to explain the characteristics used on coffee shop signboards and the reasons why shop owners chose a particular language in naming coffee shops. This research method is qualitative by applying the data collection of coffee shop signage. Methods of data collection is done by observation, interviews, documentation. Methods of data analysis with data collection, data condensation, data display and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the researchers found 12 languages, namely: Acehnese, Batak, and Javanese, Indonesian, English, Japanese, Italian, Arabic, French, Vietnamese, Spanish, and Bugis languages. It was found that the language between English and Indonesian is more dominant than other languages. The characteristics on the 89 nameplates tend to be the same. The reasons for shop owners in choosing a particular name are the type of coffee, culture, place/location, easy to remember and simple, family, reference, social time, ownership, promotion, personal, hope, leadership, heredity, recklessness, uniqueness, love of coffee, art, products, regional specialties, fondness for foreign languages. Language in public spaces and the phenomenon of language is of great interest to researchers, especially linguists.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan tanda pada meme dalam akun Instagram Dubbing Jawa Official. Akun ini menampilkan meme game online (permainan daring) khususnya PUBG dalam bahasa Jawa. Teori Pierce digunakan untuk menganalisis tanda meme yang memfokuskan pada komponen objek. Metode penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif. Data terdiri non verbal berupa potongan gambar pada video dan teks verbal yang disampaikan dalam bahasa Jawa. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini mengacu pada konsep Miles, Huberman dan Saldana (2014; 31-33) yaitu model analisis interaktif yang mengklasifikasi analisis data dalam tiga langkah : (i) kondensasi data, yaitu suatu proses memilih, menyederhanakan, mengabstrakan, dan atau mentransformasi data; (ii) penyajian data, yaitu sebuah pengorganisasian, pernyatuan dari informasi yang memungkinkan penyimpulan aksi; dan (iii) Penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan  bahwa ikon, dan indeks sebagai penanda visual dapat menggambarkan dasar pesan yang ingin disambaikan oleh kreator. Selanjutnya simbol berupa perpaduan penanda visual dan verbal untuk menangkap ketiga pesan video meme tersebut. Video meme yang dibuat merupakan kritik sosial terhadap dampak negatif permainan PUBG terhadap hubungan sosial di masyarakat, yaitu hubungan asmara, hubungan dalam berumah tangga, serta hubungan antara orang tua dan anak. Hubungan secara umum jika dikaitkan dengan kebudayaan Jawa permainan tersebut berakibat pengirisan nilai-nilai kesopanan serta aturan dalam membangun sebuah hubungan di masyarakat Jawa. Kata kunci : Ikon, Indeks, simbol, meme, game online

Abstract

This study examines the humor language representation of Raditya Dhika on the Stand-Up Comedy (SUC) program on Metro TV by using descriptive qualitative research. The data in this study were taken from the monolog Raditya Dhika on the SUC program on Metro TV. Data collection is done by indirect observation techniques. The results showed that Raditya Dhika in his speech acts of humor represented three elements of antics, namely: 1. Locution 2. Illocution and 3. Perlocution. Locution represents the element of antics with the words of blessing, praying, and demanding with no tendency at all. Illocution represents the element of antics with the words and sentences that give permission that have a tendency in speech acts for example, thank you, offer, ask, and promise with the tendency of the partners’ response such as laughter, applause, and screams that arise. Perlocution represents the element of antics through sentences that are deceptive, confusing, encouraging, convincing, encouraging, influencing, embarrassing, and attracting attention and influence from the speech partner such as trying to guess what thought Raditya Dhika will say.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the speaking style used by transgender women in Indonesia. This style of conversation was analyzed using the theory of conversational analysis and the theory of conversational style between genders. The data sources in this study are five videos from Youtube channels of Patricia Gouw, Boy William, The A6, Karin Novilda, and Daniel Mananta Network. While the data in this study are the utterances made by transgender women in the video. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method by applying documentation techniques. After the data was analyzed, it was found that the conversation style used by transgender women in Indonesia is collaborative style. The collaborative style is obtained from the type of conversation structure used by Indonesian transgender women, such as adjency pairs, turn-taking, feedback, opening and closing conversations. These types of structure are in line with the conversation style performed by women who also doing cooperative speaking style, waiting for their turn to speak or when overlapping in their conversations but still with a supportive purpose. The overall findings refer to a conclusion that Indonesian transgender women use a collaborative style because they want to show that they are not offensive and easy to approach since they are a minority group who wants to be well accepted in society. This conversation style also has similarities with the conversation style used by women.
