Abstract

Batak Toba traditional wedding ceremony is one of the unique cultural heritagevalues are present and thrive in the city of Pekanbaru. In a traditional wedding ceremonyBatak Toba there are aspects that are rich in symbolic meaning of the represented physicalobjects and food and speech. The aim of the study is to determine the meaning of thesymbolic situation, meaning the product of social interaction and meaning interpretation ofthe traditional wedding ceremony Batak Toba in Pekanbaru.This study used qualitative methods to approach symbolic interaction. Informants inthis study is parhata / protocols that exist on Batak Toba traditional wedding ceremony inSingapore as well as parents and guests who were there at the marriage ceremonies.Techniques of data collection is done through observation, interview, and documentation.The results showed that the situation of symbolic meaning in traditional weddingceremony Batak Toba in Pekanbaru consist of physical objects includes ihan (fish), mandarhela (gloves groom), Ulos (shawl) and Boras (rice) and boli / tuhor ( dowry) while the socialobject traditional wedding ceremony is a form of verbal behavior interactions that occurbetween the family that marhusip, marhata sinamot and martonggo king. Meaning theproducts of social interaction in a traditional wedding ceremony in the form of the meaningof marriage ceremonies both in terms of the bride and groom, parents of the bride, parhataand invited guests. Both bride and groom parents interpret the traditional weddingceremony of cultural, ritual and sacred very high. Parhata / protocol to interpretthetraditional wedding ceremony has a value of solidarity (assimilation), cultural, spiritualand sacred. While the audience to interpret the traditional wedding ceremony has culturaland spiritual values. Interpretation of the meaning of marriage ceremonies in the form of theaction covered and open action. Measures covered include the bride and groom internalmotivation (self), external motivation (encouragement of family and friends), as well asfeeling happy and proud to be a bride for being able to carry out the traditional weddingceremony. Opening acts include facial expressions both families who have moved and happygaze that became the embodiment of fun and seriousness of the bride and groom in the holdand preserve their culture Batak Toba traditional wedding ceremony.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe high birth rate of children with autism in Indonesia eventually provide a variety of issues, including in the field of education. Lack of formal education means complicate the space for the children and parents of autistic orangh to obtain their rights in school. Based on the phenomenon of research objectives aim to look deeper into the characteristics of this speech community through patterning of autistic children in school Asperger syndrome Indonesian Creative School Pekanbaru.This research approach uses qualitative methods of ethnographic studies that will illustrate thoroughly and deeply associated with the speech community in this school. Data collection techniques used consisted of interviews, participant observation, and the extension of participation. As for the informants in this study the rainbow class therapists, parents of autistic children with Asperger syndrome and the school management Indonesian Creative School Pekanbaru. The results of this study indicate that there are special patterning of autistic children to interact or communicate with the environment. In particular, their communication will be different when interacting with the therapist, with the class teacher, with classmates (normal) and people you know. This is evident from the communication situation in the study where communicative events that are not based on the interest interests of children with autism will reduce acts communicative autistic children to interact with the surrounding environment.Key Words: Asperger's Syndrome, Education, Communication patterning, Ethnography of Communication Studies

Abstract

Tradition bajapuik (japuik, shuttle) is a tradition that marriage is a trade mark of Pariaman area. Tradition bajapuik seen as the duty of the woman's family gave a number of items or money to men (future husband) before the ceremony performed. This study raises a bajapuik tradition which has grown in the district Sand Turtle. This study aims to determine the motive, knowledge and experience as well as the values contained in bajapuik tradition.This study used a qualitative method with phenomenological approach Schutz. The subjects were 10 women in sub pariaman turtle sand and selected by the snowball technique. To get the data, the authors used three data collection techniques, ie observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. This study uses data analysis techniques phenomenological research according to Creswell, using the techniques of observation perseverance, the extension of participation, and the adequacy of reference.Results showed that women have a motive pariaman motivated by motives "because" (past) that women wear traditional pariaman bajapuik in marriage is because it has been the tradition and customs of their native areas and still run if married to fellow Pariaman too, and follow the way provisions of the Prophet Muhammad. The second motive "for" (the present) that is to maintain the tradition that has existed since the first as well as to appreciate the male origin in order not to underestimate Pariaman and humbled. Knowledge about the procession of women pariaman custom bajapuik based on their experience that is unique tradition, but takes a lot of time. If you do not use this custom to get a waffle from the person (fellow pariaman). as well as the values contained in this tradition is the value of religion because in accordance with the provisions of the Prophet Muhammad, the unique cultural values as well as transaction marriage and social values, so that the man (husband) is no authority in the family home (female) later. So the starting point of the indigenous traditions that exist in the district bajapuik turtle sand that is like saying "who ducked anyone hunchback, who jumped who broke"KATA KUNCI : MOTIF, PENGETAHUAN DAN PENGALAMAN, NILAI-NILAI, KONSTRUKSI MAKNA BAJAPUIK., FENOMENOLOGI.

Abstract

Culture and communication have a strong connection, its seen from the communication process of Chinese ethnic student with native student. Which Chinese ethnic student belonging to minorities, and they consider themselves to be different. So Chinese ethnic student tend to be closed to native student, Chinese ethnic student considered to be more excited to help the fellow ethnic, than to help help other native ethnic. This study aimed to analyze how the intercultural communication behavior of Chinese ethnic student with native student and to determine whether there are obstacles in the intercultural communication of Chinese ethnic student with native studentThe method in this research is qualitative method with symbolic interaction approach. A total f informants in this research are 11 people, 9 of them are Chinese ethnic student, and the 2 are from native student. The selection of informants is done by using snowball sampling technique. The process in analytical data technique are begin with data reduction, data presentation and then make a verification.The result of this research indicate that the process of verbal communication by the two sides is the Chinese ethnic students are trying hard to learn native language, and native student also trying to introduce local language to Chinese ethnic student. The form of non-verbal communication are shake head to show disagree, frowning to show confusion, and give a thumb up to show agreement. The obstacles that happens during communication process are language, stereotype and prejudice.Keywords : Intercultural Communication, Chinese Ethnic Student, Native Student

Abstract

Makan bajamba procession is one of the traditional culture of Minangkabau society. There are symbolic aspect in makan bajamba procession with special meaning that is represented by clothing, tools used in makan bajamba procession, eating courtesy, figure, to messages in the opening and closing communications (alua) in makan bajamba procession. The purpose of this research was detemining the meaning of symbolic situation, the product of social interaction, and the interpretative of symbolic meaning of makan bajamba procession in custom baralek minangkabau in baso village of distric of agam of west sumatera province. This research used qualitative methode by simbolic interaction approach. Informan of this research is perpetrator makan bajamba , custom figures, and society selected by using purposive technique.. Data collection technique used observation, interview and documentation. The result of research showed that symbolik situation meaning of makan bajamba procession in Baso village consists of physical objects that include clothing and tools used and figures with specific meaning in every part while the social objects from makan bajamba procession consisting of eating courtesy perpetrators makan bajamba, as well as the message content in the opening and closing communications in makan bajamba procession which also has a certain meaning. The meaning of the product of social interaction involves meaning makan bajamba from the side of the actors where makan bajamba is interpreted to have cultural values and the value of togetherness, from the side of custom figures memaknai makan bajamba has cultural values, religion, customs and education, from the side of the Minangkabau society meaning makan bajamba procession has cultural values, education, family values. The meaning of the interpretation of makan bajamba procession includes closed action and open action. Closed actions include internal and external motivations of the perpetrator. as well as feelings of pleasure and pride to be part of the makan bajamba procession. The open act of makan bajamba includes the facial expressions of each actor and the attitudes of the actors who are compact and have an emotional closeness among actors

Abstract

The high infant mortality rate is still a serious problem in Indonesia. Overcoming this problem the government promote the Exclusive Breastfeeding Program and set it in the Government Regulation Number 33 of 2002. Cinta ASI Riau Community as a support group in Exclusive Breastfeeding Program then actively doing persuasive communication to convince mothers to breastfeeding their babies. The purpose of this research is to know the persuasive communication activity conducted by Lactation Counselor of Cinta ASI Community in the aspect of credibility of persuader, persuasive message, media selection and the resultant effect in the effort to increase mother participation in Exclusive Breastfeeding Program in Pekanbaru City.This research uses qualitative research method with Applebaum & Anatol’s persuasive communication model. Determination of the research informant was conducted based on purposive techniques, amounted to 6 person. Data collection techniques include interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques use Miles and Huberman’s interactive data models.The results show that Lactation Counselor of Cinta ASI Riau Community has credibility as a persuader that built from skill aspect through training and certification program and trustworthy aspect from counselor action and practice. Persuasive messages delivered consist of verbal messages including clarity, preciseness, and accuracy in providing information and education about the program. While the nonverbal message seen from the body notion in the form of counselor’s body movements; paralanguage of counselor's intonation; the sensitivity of the skin by giving a touch on the mother's shoulder that displays the closeness and counselor’s care; and use the artifacts with props and counselor appearance. The media selection consists of direct media conducted on home visit/counseling and indirect media using brochures, banners and social media Facebook, Twitter AIMI_Riau and WhatsApp Group Cinta ASI Riau. The resultant effect, first is cognition effect by increased knowledge, understanding and awareness of the mother. Second, affection effect is the mother's consideration about the importance of breastfeeding for the baby and third, conation effect with the mother's actions in breastfeeding on her baby.Keywords: Persuasive Communication, Lactation Counselor, Exclusive Breastfeeding.

Abstract

Interpersonal communication is needed in activity in the world of work, so thatleaders and subordinates can better understand the performance of each employee.Interpersonal communication can be very effective and can also be very ineffective.Conflicts in such a relationship with a subordinate or subordinates leadership with asubordinate makes walking is not effective interpersonal communication. To foster andimprove interpersonal relationships need to improve communication quality by improvingrelations and cooperation between the various parties in the Department of Population andCivil Registration Kampar regency. This study aims to determine the openness, empathy,support, positive sense, and equality in interpersonal communication leaders andsubordinates in improving performance in the Department of Population and CivilRegistration Kampar regency.This research method is qualitative analysis of interpersonal communication thisstudy uses of Joseph A. Devito, which is part of the perspective humanistc. The location ofresearch at the Department of Population and Civil Registration Kampar regency. A.Rahman Saleh street Bangkinang City District of Kampar regency. Informants in this studyis the Head of Department and employees using purposive sampling technique. Datacollection techniques using observation, interviews and documentation.Results of research on interpersonal communication leaders and subordinates inimproving performance in the service population and civil registration Kampar district isseen from five aspects: openness, empathy, support, positive sense, and equality. Openness,transparency between leaders and subordinates are still lacking and the need forimprovement in terms of in-depth approach undertaken leadership. Empathy, empathygiven leadership to bawahnnya still less because only some employees who had had enoughconcerns to their leaders. Support, supportive attitude is not very effective leadershipwhere leaders only put pressure on subordinates that work quickly resolved. Positive sense,positive sense leader must be able to speak informally in the language of the heart to hissubordinates. Equality, equality leaders still being discriminating subordinates this createssocial jealousy among subordinates.Key word : Interpersonal communication, improving performance.

Abstract

Human needs increasingly meningkatdan there is never a limit, while the increasingly difficult economic conditions, it forces everyone should have a strategy to meet kebutuhantersebut tersendidi. One of the strategies that today is the best solution to meet that need is to do credit. This action is not without reason, creditors increasingly interested in credit because it is easier to obtain goods to meet the needs. The number of companies that offer credit services, on condition that the easier and mild interest, help people easily meet their needs. One of the companies that provides credit services is Adira Finance.This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods conducted at PT. Adira Finance located on Jl. Sudirman, No. 21. Pekanbaru Riau with the selection of informants using Purposive Sampling technique. The object of this research is persuasive communication strategy of PT. Adira Finance Pekanbaru with research subject, creditor candidate, marketing operational chairman, marketing leader and sales marketing (kariyawan). Data collection techniques used were interviews, observation and documentation.The results obtained that the communication strategy of PT. Adira Finance Pekanbaru is done by using persuasive communication strategy by choosing the credibility of communicator of persuasive communication, persuasive message and media that is used. With the selection of communicators delivery of messages backed by education and can be trusted to run the activities provided by PT. Adira Finance Pekanbaru with maximum in attracting creditors to credit. In marketing, the message gained in introducing the product and doing credit in PT. Adira FInance Pekanbaru get the benefits of starting the process quickly, the condition is mudan and the interest is affordable in one day ready, free of fraud, this is because adira is a very trustworthy finance institution, and even been recognized by OJK. Abstract

The performing arts is one of the values of cultural heritage especially in rural communities Kampar Kampar Kuok. In the performing arts calempong there are aspects that are rich in symbolic meaning represented from physical objects, musical instruments. The aim of the study is to determine the meaning of the symbolic situation, meaning the products of social interaction and meaning interpretation of the performing arts in culture in the village calempong Kampar Kuok.This study used qualitative methods to approach symbolic interaction. Informants in this study is calempong players, coaches studios, community and village leaders Kampar Kuok. Data was collected through observation, interview, and documentation.The results showed that the meaning of the symbolic situation in the art of calempong performances in the village of Kuok Kampar Regency consists of the main tools, musical instruments, calempong, drum, saluang, while the social object of performing arts calempong is non verbal perilkau in the form of movement and kronemik. The meaning of social interaction products of performing arts of calempong in the form of performing arts performances calempong good side players, public figures and spectators. Players interpret the performing arts have the art of cultural value. Kampar community leaders interpret the performing arts have the value of solidarity. While the interpreter interpreted the performing arts as a motivation, as well as feelings of pleasure and pride. The calempong player's open actions include the facial expressions of the calempong music player against the rhythm of the music and the attitude of the calempong players in performing the performing arts of calempong.

Abstract

Bono is a unique natural phenomenon that occurs in the Kampar River Pelalawan Riau Province. Bono is a natural phenomenon that comes before the tide. Bono waves have a great potential to be one of the tourist destinations, now waves Bono has attracted the interest of local and foreign tourists through the process of externalizing society is the product of individuals who are objective realities and vice versa through a process of internalization of the individual is the product of people who become subjective reality. The purpose of this study is; Knowing the Teluk Meranti community Externalization Process About Reality Bono. Knowing the process of objectivation Society for Teluk Meranti About Reality Bono. This research was conducted in the village of TelukMerantiTelukMerantiPelalawan, Riau Province. Informants are people who are expected to assist authors in menggungkap actual reality in communities examined. Interview data collection techniques and observation.Results of this study explain that externalizing the village of TelukMeranti community is inseparable from the role of the electronic media and print media. but by making waves bono become a tourist attraction by the government Pelalawan submitted to various mass Mendia both electronic and print, so the outside world knows that the natural phenomenon bono waves make the sport pencitasurving or surfers come to try surfing in the waves bono.
