Abstract

Nursing service quality is determined by the nurses’ attitude themselves called job satisfaction that may affect morale. Absenteeism and turnover are expression of nurse job dissatisfaction. This observational study set cross-sectional design to identify relationship between nurse job satisfaction and work absenteeism. A questionnaire and observation were used. Sample is 20 nurses RSD Jombang selected by total sampling. Chi Square test was to test hypotheses. Results showed varies of job satisfactions level: fair (55%), lower (40%), and high (5%). Whilst, dimensions on nurse job satisfaction were group work and promotion (21.2%), salary (19.8%), employment (19.1%), and supervision (18.7%). Levels of absenteeism showed low (75%), and high (25%). There was weak correlation between nurses job satisfaction and absenteeism. Job satisfaction is not the only reason for nurses to absent in work, work absences causes were multifactors. It remains important for management to observe and manage the dimensional determinants of job satisfaction

Abstract

Background. The illness treated in hospital care environment increases the risk for loss of patient’s dignity. Hence, simultaneously preventing risk of losing dignity and maintaining patient dignity is important. Nevertheless, maintaining patient dignity depends on the knowledge of the factors influencing it. The present study aimed to explore the factors associated to dignified care in clinical care settings.Method. The study design was a multisite qualitative descriptive. This study was a multisite study conducted in six general hospitals located in East Java, Indonesia. The participants involved were 40 clinical nurses recruited from 36 medical and surgical wards. Data were analyzed using inductive content analysis.Results. Three main overarching categories contributing dignity care: nurse related factors involving commitment, competency and self-control; patient related factors involving personal traits and perception of care; and organization related factors involving staffing level and tangible resources.Conclusion. The study adds the understanding of factors contributing dignity gathered from healthcare provider viewpoints. These factors could act either as dignity-promoting factor or dignity-threatening factor. Our findings expanded the operationalization of the three areas as potential elements which could act as means to enhance dignity in care.

Abstract

Nurse's commitment and loyalty are important things in the health care sectors, to develop good work performance and productivity. Human resources management in Surabaya Islamic hospital that related nurse retention still focused in extrinsic efforts. In the future need comprehensive management to stimulate nurse intrinsic motivation to be more committed. Spiritual leadership is gained to develop organizational commitment based on integration of altruistic love and organizational culture. This research to investigate the influence of spiritual leadership effects on nurse’s organizational commitment in Surabaya Islamic Hospitals based on the control group with pre and post test design. The subjects are 82 nurses, divided into intervention and control group in Surabaya Islamic Hospitals nursing care wards. Instruments to examine organizational commitment is measured by using adaptations Psychological Attachment Instrument which is presented by O’Reilly dan Chatman. Data analysis used mean t-test also liniary multiple regression. The result showed that there was significant differences after practiced spiritual leadership and before practiced (p value=0.000). There was significant differences between nurse’s organizational commitment that practiced spiritual leadership and no practiced (p value=0.005). The factors used to predict increases nurses organizational commitment in research showed that spiritual leadership, female gender, married status, increases age also long nurse’s tenure. Spiritual leadership based on vision, altruistic love, hope/ faith will be stimulate spiritual survival with could to develop nurse calling and membership, and then driver organizational commitment.
