Abstract

Traumaticus ulcer or often called thrush is an issue that often comes up in society as it causes pain. People believe that the saga leaves can heal the ulcer. Previous research mentions saga leaves have anti-inflammatory substances.This research aims to determine the effect of Saga leaf (Abrus precatorius) against ulcerative traumatikus in vivo to Rattus Novegicus. This is experimental research which design randomized post test only control group, with Rattus Novegicus. In this research there were four group treatments. Data used to calculate the number of fibroblasts in 4 each visual field preparate. The research used statistical analysis Independent T test.The results of the average number of fibroblasts in each group were K3, K7, P3, P7 is 23.34, 18.83, 47.00, 23.83. Independent T Test obtained value of p <0.05 on day 3 but not on day 7. This means there was inhibition effect produced by extracts of saga leaves on day 3 but not on day 7.From the results, it can be concluded that the leaf extract Saga (Abrus precatorius) has an influence on ulcer healing traumatikus on Rattus Novegicus which have been shown number of fibroblasts. Key Words : Saga Leaf extract, traumatic ulcer

Abstract

Infeksi jamur di rongga mulut banyak disebabkan oleh jamur Candida albicans yang merupakan flora normal dalam tubuh dan bersifat opertunistik. Ekstrak anggur merah memiliki aktivitas antijamur, karena memiliki kandungan flavonoid dan tannin. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak anggur merah berbagai konsentrasi terhadap pertumbuhan Candida albicans secara in vitro. Penelitian eksperimental laboratorium dengan post test only control group design. Sampel adalah Candida albicans dengan tingkat kepekaan sesuai dengan standar Mc Farland 0,5 yaitu 1 X 108 CFU/ml. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode cakram yang dilakukan pada satu kelompok kontrol dan empat kelompok perlakuan ekstrak anggur merah dengan konsentrasi 12,5%, 25%, 50%, dan 100%. Pertumbuhan Candida albicans di ukur dari zona hambat yang terbentuk. Uji Kruskal Wallis dan Man-Whitney di gunakan untuk melihat perbedaan rata-rata diameter zona hambat. Hasil penelitian menunjukan diameter zona hambat ditemukan pada kelompok ekstrak anggur merah konsentrasi 12,5%, 25%, 50%, dan 100%. Dengan rata-rata diameter 0,8mm,  1,26mm, 1,65mm, 2,1mm. Ke empat nilai rata-rata ini menunjukan perbedaan bermakna (nilai p=0,000). Disimpulkan bahwa semakin tinggi konsentrasi ekstrak anggur merah, semakin besar daya hambatnya terhadap pertumbuhan jamurCandida albicans.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Depression as a part of a psychological condition is a situation that interference with the natural feeling. Emotional condition can affect the secretion of saliva in oral cavity and can disrupt the balance of bacteria in the mouth and can cause disease in the oral cavity. One of the common diseases is gingivitis. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of depression on the occurrence of gingivitis at boarding school students Rohmatullah 2 in 2012.This study was used observational analytic method with cross sectional design study that was conducted on 50 students at the boarding school Rohmatullah2 in 2012 using simple random sampling method. The level of depression was measured with a questionnaire of Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). Gingival health conditions were measured by the Gingival Index. The results of research were analyzed using the Kolmogorov-Smirnovt test.The results of the data analysis with Kolmogorov-Smirnov test showed that there was a significant relationship between the level of depression and the occurrence of gingivitis (p=0.001), while the status of OHI-S as a confounding factor in this study also affect the occurrence of gingivitis (p=0.000). The existence of a significant effect of depression on the occurrence of gingivitis in accordance with a theory that depression can affect the release of cortisol from corticosteroid hormone that results in decreased production of IgA and Ig Gingingival fluid that acts as antibody in the oral cavity. In addition to the poor conditions of oral hygiene can lead the accumulation of plaque. from the accumulation of plaque can lead to the development of inflammatory diseases such as gingivitis.Based on the results of this study concluded that there was significant influence between depression and gingivitis at boarding school students Rohmatullah 2 in 2012. Keywords: Depression, Gingivitis, BDI, Gingival Index

Abstract

Background: The objective of this research is to investigate influence of polishing time and citric acid on microleakage in nanofiller composite resin restoration (Z350XT,3M). Method: The research was conducted on a class V restoration amount sample 24 on bovine teeth. The first group restoration was polished immediately after curing then was soaked in distilled water. The second group was polished immediately after curing and then was soaked in citric acid.The third group was polished after 24 hours of curing and then was soaked in distilled water. The fourth group was polished after 24 hours of curing then was soaked in citric acid. Samples were immersed for 7 days and then were soaked in methylene blue for 1 day and were split longitudinally and were observed using microskopstereo and were measured using calipers. Result: Data were analized by Kruskal-wallis with the result of p > 0,05, there is a significant difference in group I, II, III, and IV. Mann- Whitney test results the difference between the data. Conclusion: The conclution is there were significant differences between the groups which immersed with citric acid of distilled water and there is no significant difference between groups which polished immediately and polished 24 hours later.

Abstract

Background: Nowdays many people who care about the health switching from chemical drugs to herbal medicine. There are many herbs that used for health. One is miswak (Salvadora persica) are many benefits to general health and dental health. Siwak can help inhibit dental plaque. Research purposes to determine effectiveness miswak extract against plaque formation. Method: The research was conducted 35 students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Sale. The samples were divided into five groups, each group of 7 people to extract Siwak 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% and chlorheksidin group. Measurement of plaque index measurement using PHP Plaque Index (Patient Hygiene Performance Index) according Podshadley and Haley. Result: The criteria of dental plaque before rinsing dominant medium, with an average index plaque before rinsing 1,833 chlorheksidin group; 2.119 miswak extract 25%, 2,833 miswak extract 50%; 1,595 miswak extract 75%, and 2,905 miswak extract 100%. The criteria dominant plaque index after rinsing well, with an average index plaque after rinsing 1,476 chlorheksidin group; 1,286 miswak extract 25%; 0,929 miswak extract 50%; 0.690 miswak extract 75%, and 1,310 miswak extract 100%. P value of the one way ANOVA test after rinsing plaque index = 0.018 (p <0.05), means that the average index of dental plaque after rinsing significantly different. Post hoc test results showed 50% miswak extract group and 100% higher than chlorheksidin group, and 25% miswak extract and 75%. Conclusion: Concluded that miswak extract effective against dental plaque formation inhibition. Because the content of trimethylamine (TMA) has miswak which prevents sediment (deposit) particles on the surface of teeth.

Abstract

Introduction: Research on the use of papaya and aloevera sap on wound healing each been done, but effects the combination of the two extracts on wound healing in diabetes mellitus condition has not been done.Purpose: This study aims to determine the effect of a gel combination of papaya latex and aloevera flesh extracts on the traumatics ulcer healing process in diabetic rats.Methods: True experimental laboratory research with the post-test-only control group design that performed on 28 male wistar rats which were divided intofour groups: DM and non-DM rat that treatment with povidone iodine and gel combination of papaya latex and aloevera flesh extract. The treatment was done for 7 days with smearing that was given 2x/day. Traumatics ulcer healing seen from the number of fibroblasts that then were analyzed by One WayAnova and post hoc LSD test.Results: The results showed the number of fibroblasts in DM and non-DM rat with povidone iodine were 44.6 and 42.73; in the DM and non-DM rat with a gel combination of papaya latex and aloe vera flesh extracts were 61.10 and 77.03. One Way Anova test resulted p-value = 0.000, it was mean that there were at least a significant difference on the number of fibroblasts in the two groups. Differences of the number fibroblasts was shown in all groups, except in the group DM and non-DM rats with povidone iodine (p = 0.764).Conclusion: Conclusion of the study was the provision of a gel combination of papaya latex and aloevera flesh extracts effect on the traumatics ulcer healing process in diabetic rats.
