Abstract

Self-concept is one important factor in one's success, especially in education. This study aims to describe and analyze the relationship between students' self-concept in learning mathematics and mathematics learning achievement, and investigate the significance of differences in self-concept and learning achievement in mathematics education students seen from that semester. A total of 151 mathematics education students at the Teaching and Education Faculty of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang were used as participants in this study. Self-concept data and mathematics learning achievement were obtained through an online questionnaire using Google Forms. Descriptive statistics, correlation tests, and ANOVA tests were used in analyzing the data. Descriptions of self-concept and student achievement are presented per category and semester. Correlational analysis shows a very weak relationship between self-concept and student achievement. The results of the ANOVA test prove that there is no significant difference in self-concept in terms of student semesters. As for learning achievement there is a significant difference based on student semester.

Abstract

The ability to think critically in mathematics is one of the thinking skills needed by students to obtain a problem-solving procedure and to find logical results, especially when facing developments in the 21st century. One of them is by implementing cooperative learning assisted by liveworksheets. The purpose of this study was to determine students' critical thinking skills in the implementation of cooperative learning assisted by liveworksheets. This research uses descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The subjects of the study were 30 students in class VIII-I. Research instruments in the form of lesson plans, observation sheets, tests, and interviews. Data collection techniques using observation, tests, and interviews. The results showed that the student's critical thinking skills were mostly 72.36%, including the high category and the level of students' activeness in learning mathematics was 82.1%

Abstract

Digital technology can help the learning mathematics process with learning designs in videos by linking mathematical material to the Qur’an context. This is used to help students use mathematical reasoning skills to solve problems and are less interested and enthusiastic when learning, so they can understand the material well and have religious values from the non-Qur'anic text presented. This study aims to create media and learning resources for mathematics in the Qur’an context on mathematical reasoning abilities. The e-module development model used is ADDIE. The data collection instrument uses a validation instrument as a useful data collection tool whether or not the video was developed. Moreover, the practicality instrument is a practicality aspect test given to students after participating in the learning process using the developed product. The study results obtained a score of 3.61 for the material expert and a score of 3.56 for the media expert with the criteria of being tested. The results of student mastery of 82.9% with reasonably practical student responses indicate that the Islamic-based animated video media used is effective and practical. Based on the study's results, the developed media meets the valid, practical, and effective criteria to help develop students' reasoning abilities.

Abstract

To prepare students to compete in 21st-century skills, the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia integrates character education into school subjects. However, as a medium, comics do not contain the level of character values, exploration, and critical thinking skills in problem-solving on geometry material. Therefore, the aim of this study is to produce digital media based on character values on mathematical critical thinking skills in solving problems related to learning styles for eighth-grade students. This development research employed the 4-D method (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The study indicates that the digital comic learning media is valid with a total average score of 3.60 based on the material expert’s validation and 3.50 based on the media expert’s validation. The eight-grade students' responses were positive (92%) based on the trials. The learning outcomes in terms of kinesthetic, auditory, and visual learning styles used in this study can all meet all indicators of mathematical problem-solving.

Abstract

Assessment is an essential part of the learning process in higher education. As a result, the assessment should involve students in addition to lecturers. The purpose of this study is to examine the self and peer assessments on the answers to midterm and final-semester exams given by lecturers and their relationship with student achievement. The participants in this study were 114 fifth-semester mathematics education students who took differential equations courses. Data were gathered from student assessment scores on the middle and final test and student achievement in the lecturer's differential equations courses. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and an independent sample t-test to describe the self and peer assessments. Pearson correlation analysis was also used to describe the relationship between self and peer assessment and learning achievement. The study revealed no significant difference between self and peer assessments, both midterm and final semester assessments. The midterm assessment said that the average self-assessment was higher than peers. Meanwhile, the assessment average scores obtained in the semester's final exam were nearly identical between the two assessors. There is a positive and significant correlation with a high level of self and peer assessments, both in the midterm and final semester, and a positive and significant correlation with a moderate level of self and peer assessments with learning achievement. These findings can be used as a basis for lecturers to consider when involving students in assessing student achievement.

Abstract

Abstract

Literacy is essential in preparing for 21st-century life and the significant data era. At the very least, people need the ability to process, analyze, read, and use the data to make decisions. This ability is known as statistical literacy. The students' statistical literacy must be diagnosed well for appropriate learning improvements. This study is qualitative research with a quantitative descriptive approach; the instruments used are AKM (Asesmen et al. - Minimum Competence Assessment) problems and Watson's statistical literacy category. The respondents were 187 students from six schools with different statuses (three state and three private schools) with different abilities (two high-level schools, two medium-level schools, and two low-level schools). The results obtained: there are no students at level 1; 3.07% of students are at level 2; 8.82% 0f students at level 3; 14.84% of students are at level 4; 55.61% of students are at level 5, and 17.65% of students gain level 6. Based on the result, it is evident that the students' statistical literacy spread to several levels. Most of the students are in level 5, and a few can gain the sixth level, but still, there are several students at the third level, even the second level. Those data can be used as preliminary data to improve statistical learning methods and teaching materials and for further research, especially about why and how to increase students' statistical literacy
