Abstract

The research attempted to recognize students’ comprehension in adopting a set of procedures in the translation process compared to the translation-professional choices in real-situation. Thus, two sets of questionnaires were provided for students and professional translators. The qualitative method was employed in conducting the research. The first questionnaire enabled students to express their feelings, thoughts, and ideas concerning the translation course and process. This reflection revealed the students’ strategies, interests, and motivation in attending the course. It also allowed the student to see the importance and benefit of the course. On the other hand, the second questionnaire drew some insight into professional translators’ choice in doing a translation, particularly on strategy in dealing with texts. Those finding provides an opportunity for teachers to identify the students’ needs in learning and practicing the translation as close as the professional does and finally to find the best approach in teaching translation.

Abstract

Film Tarung Sarung merepresentasikan Budaya yang menarik. Salah satunya terkait dengan percakapan antartokoh. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk kajian semiotiok pragmatik deiksis serta budaya pada film Tarung Sarung. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan dengan menggunakan metode penelitian dokumentasi, simak, dan catat. Data penelitian ini adalah data bahasa ragam lisan yang bersumber dari Tarung Sarung. Data tersebut dianalisis dengan tehnik analisis Taksonomik (Taksonomic Analysis) pada tahap analisis taksonomi, peneliti berupaya memahami domain-domain tertentu sesuai fokus masalah atau sasaran penelitian. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat beberapa bentuk deiksis dalam Tarung Sarung yakni Deiksis orang meliputi (1) deiksis orang pertama : Saya, aku, gue dan kita, (2) Deiksis orang kedua : kamu, kalian, dan saudara-saudaraku, (3) Deiksis orang ketiga : mereka dan dia. Deiksis tempat meliputi di Mesji, di sini, dan di Makassar. Deiksis waktu meliputi malam-malam, selamat pagi, dan kesiangan. Deiksis Sosial meliputi Puang Deni Ruso. Sedangkan makna semiotik budaya yang terdapat dalam film ini yakni makna dari segi bahasanya, warisan, sistem pengetahuan, dan keseniannya.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mendeskripsikan efektivitas penyajian pengembangan metode pembelajaran investigasi kelompok dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia khususnya materi membaca pada siswa kelas V SDN 104372 Tahun Pelajaran 2019-2020 . Subjek penelitian terhadap pengembangan metode pembelajaran investigasi kelompok adalah validator. Selain itu, yang menjadi subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas SDN 104372 Batang Terap. Objek penelitian terhadap penelitian ini adalah metode pembelajaran, yaitu metode investigasi kelompok yang diimplementasikan pada siswa kelas V SDN 104372 Tahun Pelajaran 2019-2020. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah metode penelitian pengembangan (Research & Development). Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah angket, tes dan observasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pengembangan metode pembelajaran investigasi kelompok efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca siswa kelas SDN 104372 Batang Terap Tahun Pembelajaran 2019-2020 , dimana nilai rata-rata yang diperoleh siswa sebelum proses pengembangan yaitu sebesar 59,57 yang berada pada kategori cukup. Selanjutnya, setelah proses pengembangan metode pembelajaran investigasi kelompok dan implementasi metode pembelajaran investigasi kelompok menunjukkan bahwa hasil nilai rata-rata yang dimiliki siswa yaitu sebesar 80,71. Dengan demikian, rata-rata tingkat kemampuan membaca siswa kelas SDN 104372 Batang Terap Tahun Pembelajaran 2019-2020 setelah pengembangan metode pembelajaran investigasi kelompok berada pada kategori baik.

Abstract

Karya Ilmiah ini membahas tentang masalah wilayah Barat, di mana dalam sejarah Amerika, West (wilayah barat) adalah merupakan tujuan akhir bangsa Amerika. The Ox-Bow Incident adalah sebuah karya sastra populer dalam bentuk novel yang ditulis oleh Walter pada tahun 1940. Novel ini mengisahkan petualangan dan pengalaman bangsa Amerika di Wild West pada sekitar abad ke 19 di mana para cowboys dan peternak sedang sibuk-sibuknya menghasilkan sapi dan daging sapi untuk pertumbuhan bangsa Amerika pada akhir perang saudara antara 1861-1865. Untuk pengembangan koloninya, Amerika terus memfokuskan pengembangan wilayahnya ke arah Barat dan para imigran bergerak ke wilayah Barat untuk mendapatkan kehidupan yang baru. Wilayah Barat adalah merupakan tanah yang menjanjikan dan tempat yang selalu memberi kesempatan untuk saling berdampingan di antara mereka.

Abstract

Based on observations from interviews with Indonesian language and literature teachers at SMPN 1, Pinang City, South Labuhan Batu, Indonesia, it is known that students' writing skills still need to be improved. Only 60% of students who are able to write instructions properly and correctly, the rest still have difficulty in writing instructions. In this study, there are two categories of research data sources. First, the data source for the prototype needs of teaching materials consists of students and teachers. Second, the prototype validation data source that will assess the prototype of teaching materials writing instructions with a contextual approach. Sources of data needs prototype teaching materials in this study are students and teachers. Sources of prototype validation data that assess the product development of this research are teachers and expert lecturers. The main finding of this study is the average value given by three teachers and two experts on the prototype of teaching materials for writing instructions with a contextual approach, namely (1) aspects of material presentation of 69.79 included in the good category, (2) aspects of content /material of 79.17 is included in the good category, and (3) aspects of language and readability of 80.42 are included in the good category. After making improvements based on the results of assessments and suggestions by teachers and experts, the teaching materials write instructions with the Contextual after repair contains material on the meaning of writing instructions, characteristics that need to be considered in writing instructions, steps for writing instructions, examples of writing instructions, and effective sentences.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the students' preferences on online learning systems in the new normal period of the Covid-19 pandemic. This study used descriptive qualitative research and adopted a survey method to collect the quantitative data from 95 students in two universities related to students experiences on learning classes, devices and mediums, learning environment, material format and comprehension, resources, time management, peers and lecturer communication, and limitation and benefit of online learning. This study also highlights the lecturer's effort to overcome the general obstacles amid the online learning process. The use of various formats of learning materials is effective for students who face poor internet access in remote areas. Moreover, feedback is vital for both lecturer and students in maintaining the engagement of communication. Finally, the results of this study provide essential information in understanding the effectiveness of online learning particularly amid the new normal period from the university setting.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the development of teaching material patterns, the feasibility of teaching materials, and the effectiveness of teaching materials in writing paragraphs of argumentation based on lotus techniques in class XII MAN Pematangsiantar. Kind of this research is research and development based on the model of Borg and Gall. Subject trials consist of subject experts, design experts. The results showed that: (1) validation of the content experts include the freasibility of content with an average of 82,35 in very good criteria, eligibility presentation with an average of 86,545 in the very well criteria, aspects of language with an average of 90,38% in the very well criteria, (2) validation of design experts with an average of 85,00% in the very well criteria, (3) individual testing with an average of 82,87% with a very good criteria, (4) the trial of small group with an average of 91,20% with a very good criteria, and (5) a limited field test groups with an average of 95,10% with a very good criteria, (6) the effectiveness of instructional materials with a presentation by 74,22% with good criteria. Thus, the instructional materials of argumentative paragraph based on lotus tehnic that have been developed is proper to use in the learning process as a learning resource. Keywords: Intructional naterials, argumentative paragraph, lotus tehnic based Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pengembangan pola bahan ajar, kelayakan bahan ajar, dan keefektifan bahan ajar menulis paragraf argumentasi berbasis teknik teratai pada siswa kelas XII MAN Pematangsiantar. Penelitian pengembangan ini mengacu pada model Borg and Gall, yang terdiri atas materi, desain, uji coba. Data dikumpulkan melalui angket. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) validasi ahli materi kelayakan isi dengan rata-rata 82,35 pada kriteria sangat baik, kelayakan penyajian dengan rata-rata 86,54% pada kriteria sangat baik, aspek bahasa dengan rata-rata 90,38% pada kriteria sangat baik, (2) validasi ahli desain dengan rata-rata 85,00% pada kriteria sangat baik, (3) uji coba perorangan dengan rata-rata 82,87% dengan kriteria sangat baik, (4) uji coba kelompok kecil dengan rata-rata 91,20% dengan kriteria sangat baik, dan (5) uji kelompok lapangan terbatas dengan rata-rata 95,10% dengan kriteria sangat baik, (6) keefektifan bahan ajar dengan presentasi 74,22% dengan kriteria baik. Dengan demikian, bahan ajar paragraf argumentasi berbasis teknik teratai yang telah dikembangkan layak untuk digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran sebagai sumber belajar. Abstract

The outbreak of COVID-19 has brought the disrupt change to education activities; from face to face to distance learning. In large-scale e-learning implementations, both teachers and students face an overload of subject material, making it difficult to adjust to the online context. This qualitative research investigated the students’ perception of e-learning implementation from the perspective of translation-course participants. The perception reflected the student challenges that categorized as adaptability to e-learning environment; technical availability and computer literacy; time-management, learning engagement; and self-effort and readiness. A semi structured-questionnaire Google Form that consisted of 19 items was developed to collect the students' perceptions and opinions. The questionnaire distributed and collected online. The data was tabulated, presented, and analyzed statistically. The perception of students on e-learning revealed the importance of improvement on technical support for learning instruction and material presentation, as well as students’ self-discipline on learning schedule. The finding of this study was feedback for authors to provide effective teaching by consideration to student's challenges in the e-learning environment.

Abstract

Bahan ajar merupakan salah satu elemen penting yang mempengaruhi kesuksesan proses pembelajaran. Salah satu bahan ajar yang digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran yaitu berbentuk modul. Bahan Ajar berbasis saintifik merupakan bahan ajar yang didalamnya mengandung tahapan-tahapan saintifik 5M diantaranya tahapan Mengamati, Menanya, Mengumpulkan Informasi, Menalar, dan Mengkomunikasikan.  Penelitian Pengembangan ini dilakukan untuk menghasilkan produk berupa bahan ajar menulis teks persuasif dengan melalui pendekatan Saintifik untuk siswa kelas VIII SMP. Model penelitian yang digunakan pada pengembangan ini adalah model pengembangan Reseacrh and Development (R&D) Borg & Gall. Model Penelitian tersebut meliputi (1) penelitian dan pengumpulan informasi, (2) tahap perencanaan, (3) Pengembangan produk awal, (4) uji coba lapangan awal, (5) revisi produk utama, (6) uji coba lapangan, (7) revisi produk akhir, (8) uji pelaksanaan lapangan, (9) revisi produk akhir, dan (10) diseminasi dan implementasi. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan tes, angket, dan lembar validasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah teknik analisis deskriptif. Menurut Sugiyono (2016:254) menyatakan bahwa statistik deskriptif yang digunakan untuk menganalisis data dengan cara mendeskripsikan atau menggambarkan data yang telah terkumpul sebagaimana  adanya tanpa bermaksud membuat kesimpulan yang berlaku untuk umum atau generalisasi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah pengembangan bahan ajar untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks persuasif pada siswa.

Abstract

Since the beginning of the Covid-19 Pandemic, the world has heavily relied on the internet to acquire information. The Pandemic is growing as a complex information discourse with so many texts from many sources. Various texts about Covid-19 certainly have various meanings for their readers. It is interesting to see an information resource that presents information in many languages in parallel. This study aims to reveal the global meaning of the parallel Indonesian and English texts of Covid-19 released by the World Health Organization. More specifically, this study examines whether parallelism in the two versions of the same text will present differences in the global meaning of each text; and whether there are social and political aspects that potentially affect the differences. The data for this study consists of two pairs of question-and-answer texts about Covid-19 published by WHO in English and Indonesian. This study used van Dijk's Critical Discourse Analysis framework at the macrostructure level. This study collected all texts and macro rules (deletion, generalization, and construction) have been applied to reduce information at the texts’ micro level to macropropositions at the macro level or the global topics/themes of discourse. There are some differences in the Indonesian text when compared to the original English text. Some of these differences may appear in the Indonesian translated version as a response to Indonesia's social and political conditions during the Covid-19 pandemic.
