Abstract

Twenty seven land races of tropical japonica rice were test-crossed with a 'WA' type cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS) line IR58025A to evaluate their fertility restoration ability.  Based on pollen fertility and spikelet fertility of their F1 hybrids, genotypes are classified into maintainer or restorer.  The result showed frequency of maintainers among genotypes was higher than restorers.  Four genotypes, i.e., Ase Lapan, Ase Mandi, Hawara Bunar and Lampung Kuning were designated as maintainers.  These maintainers possess a number of desirable traits such as pest resistance and abiotic stresses tolerance; thus they will be useful for improving parental lines of hybrid rice.     Key words: Land race, test cross, fertility restoration

Abstract

The use of upland rice variety is an effort to expand rice cultivation to dry land due to the decreasing of fertile land in Indonesia. To develop a high yielding rice line, a primary population with high genetic diversity is needed in character related to grain yield. This experiment aimed to study the genetic variability of some important characters of upland rice lines as primary data for the selected program. The research was carried out in the farmland of Mirit Village, Kebumen, Central Java. The genetic material consisted of 203 new promising lines and five varieties as a check, namely Inpago 6, Inpago 8, Limboto, Situpatenggang, and Situbagendit. This observation yield trial used an augmented design with five replicates of the check varieties, with a spacing of 30 x 15 cm. The data analysis showed that the rice lines, line vs. check, and block were significantly different in the number of productive tillers. The significant effects of lines with the check varieties were in plant height, flowering age, harvest age, and a number of productive tillers. The number of productive tillers had wide genetic variation, broad-sense heritability, and high genetic gain so that it can be utilized as selection criteria. Twelve lines were identified as a higher number of productive tillers, and three lines had a higher yield compared to the best varieties of Situbagendit.

Abstract

Penelitian untuk mempelajari pengaruh depresi inbreeding dan mandul jantan sitoplasma terhadap penampilan beberapa karakter agronomi padi pada populasi F1 dan F2 dilakukan dengan menggunakan populasi persilangan galur mandul jantan (cytoplasmic genetic male sterile= CMS) tipe wild abortive (WA) IR58025A dengan tiga galur pemulih kesuburan, IR53942, C20 dan Kencana Bali, masing-masing mewakili tipe padi Indica, Japonica dan Javanica; dan persilangan resiprokalnya. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya heterosis yang nyata untuk semua karakter yang diamati pada hampir semua populasi F1 yang diuji. Sebagian besar populasi F2 menunjukkan depresi inbreeding yang nyata untuk semua karakter agronomi yang diamati, dan nilai depresi inbreeding terbesar terlihat pada karakter hasil gabah kering per tanaman yang besarnya antara 18.16% sampai dengan 53.98%. Nilai tengah karakter umur berbunga, tinggi tanaman, jumlah anakan dan hasil gabah kering per tanaman antara F1 hasil persilangan dengan menggunakan CMS sebagai tetua betina dan resiprokalnya berbeda untuk tiap kombinasi hibrida. Hal yang sama juga terjadi pada populasi F2 turunannya. Hasil penelitian mengindikasikan bahwa penurunan nilai tengah hasil gabah kering dari F1 ke F2 nyata pada semua hibrida yang diuji dan besarnya bervariasi antar kombinasi hibrida. Berdasarkan keragaan individu-individu di F2, fiksasi penampilan agronomi di F1 dimungkinkan karena sejumlah individu di F2 mampu menunjukkan penampilan yang superior dibanding F1, namun penggunaan kembali benih turunan dari hibrida F1 tidak dapat direkomendasikan karena nilai tengah dari populasi F2 secara nyata lebih rendah dibandingkan F1-nya.

Abstract

Analisis daya gabung dengan menggunakan metode lini x tester dilakukan untuk mengetahui daya gabung karakter pengisian gabah lima varietas padi yang memiliki alel netral pada lokus S-5 atau wide compatibility varieties (WCV). Varietas varietas tersebut diuji daya gabungnya menggunakan delapan tester dari beragam varietas yang mewakili berbagai ekotipe dan agroekosistem. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dua WCV yaitu Ketombol dan Moroberekan menjadi penggabung yang baik untuk karakter jumlah gabah total dan persentase gabah isi per malai. Dengan demikian varietas-varietas tersebut dapat dimanfaatkan dalam program pemuliaan padi hibrida untuk mengatasi masalah kehampaan pada F1 hasil persilangan antar subspesies.

Abstract

Nafisah et al, 2017. Grain Yield of Rice Elite Lines Under Saline Prone Condition in Cilamaya Wetan, Karawang Subdistrict West Java. JLSO 6(1):21-32.Utilization of high yielding rice varieties tolerant to salinity is one way to maintain yield sustainability in salt affected rice area. As many as 30 elit lines and 4 varieties checks were tested in saline prone area in Muara Baru, Cilamaya Wetan sub district, Karawang, West Java. The trial was arranged in Randomized Block Design with three replications. Twenty eight old seedlings were planted in 3x4 m2 plot size with 25 cm x 25 cm planting space. Analysis variance showed two elit lines (1131-Ski-4 dan IR86385-50-2-1-B-SKI-2) yielded 5.48 dan 5.64 t/ha, respectively. These yield were significant higher than those of two popular checks planted by local farmers, i.e.  Mekongga and Sintanur which yielded about 4,44 t/ha. Beside 11 lines  had yield 0,5 t/ha higher than that of popular check variety.  Correlation analysis showed grain yield highly positive correlated with productive tiller number and filled grain number, while thousand grain weight highly positive correlated with plant height. Screening for salinity tolerance in seedling stage done in screen house showed that both 1131-Ski-4 dan BP14082-2b-2-5-TRT-35-2-SKI-1 consistently tolerant under salinized Yoshida solution at 12 dSm-1. These two lines are very potential for further tested in saline prone area.

Abstract

Optimalisasi peningkatan produktivitas padi nasional dapat dicapai melalui penambahan indeks pertanaman dan per1uasan tanam ke lahan suboptimal, seperti lahan kering masam. Potensi lahan kering masam untuk tanaman pangan di Indonesia cukup luas, namun terkendala cekaman kekeringan dan keracunan Aluminium (Al). Salah satu pendekatan yang dapat dilakukan dalam budidaya di lahan kering masam yang efisien dan berkelanjutan, yaitu dengan pemilihan varietas yang adaptif pada lahan kering masam. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan galur-galur padi gogo toleran kekeringan dan keracunan aluminium, serta tahan penyakit blas. Seleksi dilakukan di lahan kering masam KP Tamanbogo, Lampung pada MH 2017/2018. Materi seleksi meliputi 265 galur dengan varietas pembanding Limboto, Inpago 12, Situpatenggang, Batutegi dan Inpago 7. Berdasarkan hasil seleksi terpilih sebanyak 61 galur adaptif lahan kering masam dan memiliki rata-rata hasil melebihi rata-rata hasil varietas pembandingnya (3.46 t/ha). Galur-galur tersebut tahan terhadap serangan penyakit blas leher dan blas daun, serta toleran keracunan Al. Respon pertumbuhan galur-galur terpilih yang berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap keracunan Al adalah tinggi tanaman (r=-0.51**) dan hasil (r=0.38*). Sedangkan berdasarkan data pengamatan 265 galur padi gogo yang diseleksi, yang paling berkorelasi terhadap hasil adalah jumlah anakan produktif (r=0.94**), umur berbunga (r=-0.56**), umur panen (r=-0.60**) dan serangan blas leher (r=0.47**). Tingkat toleransi terhadap keracunan Al berkorelasi kuat dengan ketahanan terhadap serangan penyakit blas leher (r=0.59**) dan blas daun (r=0.77**).

Abstract

Lahan kering berpotensi sebagai lahan pertanaman padi. Perakitan Varietas Unggul Baru yang tahan terhadap cekaman kekeringan merupakan solusi untuk mengoptimalkan produksi padi di lahan kering.  Penelitian bertujuan untuk menguji daya hasil dan menentukan galur-galur harapan padi yang berpotensi sebagai calon varietas baru padi gogo. Penelitianini dilaksanakan  di dua lokasi yakni di Propinsi Lampung dan Jawa Barat pada musim tanam (MT). 1 2021 Penelitian menggunakan rancangan lingkungan rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) dengan 40 genotip padi yang terdiri dari 36 calon VUB dan 4 varietas pembanding .  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada lokasi Indramayu diperoleh 13 galur yang hasilnya lebih tinggi dari ketiga varietas ceknya dengan kisaran hasil 4.3 – 5.0 t/ha, namun lebih rendah hasilnya dari Inpago 12. Galur-galur tersebut adalah B15322E-MR-43, B15150E-MR-11, B15151E-MR-23, B13498D-9, B15150E-MR-50, B15760F-TB-4, B15783F-TB-18, B15783F-TB-21, B15877F-TB-4, B15897F-TB-3, B15897F-TB-7, B15897F-TB-8 dan B15897F-TB-9, sedangkan UDHP di lokasi KP Tamanbogo diperoleh tujuh galur hasilnya lebih tinggi dari varietas cek Inpago 12 yaitu galur BP30475C-SKI-11-1-1-5-2, B15150E-MR-11, B15837E-TB-46, B15760F-TB-4, B15780F-TB-13, B15897F-TB-7, dan B15897F-TB-8.
