Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the existence of the DDI Mangkoso Islamic Boarding School as a representation of traditional Islamic education institutions. The research method used is qualitative with a phenomenological approach. The primary data sources consisted of kiai, ustaz, students, and the community around the DDI Mangkoso Islamic Boarding School. Secondary data sources consist of books, journals, and other relevant scientific works. Data were collected using interview, observation, and documentation methods, then analyzed through three stages, namely data reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The research results show that the DDI Mangkoso Islamic Boarding School still exists as a traditional Islamic education institution by maintaining five roles, namely (1) transmission of classical Islamic sciences, (2) institute of da'wah, (3) preserver of Islamic tradition, (4) center for reproduction of ulama, and (5) place of community service and development.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis eksistensi Pondok Pesan­tren DDI Mangkoso sebagai representasi lembaga pendidikan Islam tradisional. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologis. Sumber data primer terdiri atas kiai, ustaz, santri, dan masyarakat sekitar Pondok Pesantren DDI Mangkoso. Sumber data sekunder terdiri atas buku, jurnal, dan karya ilmiah relevan lainnya. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan metode wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis melalui tiga tahap, yaitu reduksi data, penyajian, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil pe­ne­litian menunjukkan bahwa Pondok Pesantren DDI Mangkoso tetap eksis sebagai lembaga pendidikan Islam tradisional dengan memper­ta­han­kan lima peran, yaitu (1) tempat transmisi ilmu-ilmu Islam klasik, (2) lem­baga dakwah, (3) peles­tari tradisi Islam, (4) pusat reproduksi ulama, dan (5) tempat pengabdian dan pengem­bangan masyarakat.

Abstract

AbstractThis research discusses implying punishment by teachers as an effort of character building for students such as honesty, discipline, and responsibility at Pondok Pesantren DDI Mangkoso with three focus problems, namely: 1) the form of the implementation of punishment in building characters of students; 2) the variety of obstacles to the implementation of punishment in building characters of the students and their solutions, and 3) the results of the implementation of punishment in building characters of students. This research was qualitative research by using pedagogy, psychology, juridical, and theological normative approaches. Sources of data have consisted of various level ages of respondents at the pesantren such as chairman, teachers, students, and students’ parents. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Result of this research shows that forms of punishment consist of admonition, assigning assignments, psychic, and physical chastisement. Obstacles in applying the punishment are Child Protection Acts, environmental problems, and teacher’s creativities. Furthermore, a physical chastisement will be more optimum in students’ character building if it is supported collaboration between teachers and student’s parents.Abstrak Penelitian ini menganalisis penerapan hukuman oleh guru sebagai upaya pembinaan karakter jujur, disiplin, dan tanggung jawab santri pada Pondok Pesantren DDI Mangkoso, dengan tiga fokus masalah, yaitu: 1) bentuk penerapan hukuman dalam pembinaan karakter santri; 2) ragam hambatan penerapan hukuman dalam pembinaan karakter santri beserta solusinya, dan 3) hasil penerapan hukuman dalam pembinaan karakter santri. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan pedagogik, psikologis, yuridis, dan normatif teologis. Sumber data terdiri atas informan-informan dari berbagai unsur Pondok Pesantren DDI Mangkoso, yaitu: pimpinan, guru, santri, dan orang tua santri. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bentuk hukuman yang diterapkan adalah teguran, pemberian tugas, hukuman psikis, dan hukuman fisik; hambatan-hambatannya adalah Undang-undang Perlindungan Anak, problem lingkungan, dan kreativitas guru; dan hukuman fisik lebih optimal dalam pembinaan karakter santri bila didukung oleh kerja sama yang baik dengan orang tua santri.

Abstract

This research analyzes the values of Islamic education in the sacrifice worship according to QS al-Ṣaffāt/37: 100-108 and its relevance to the learning of formal education in Indonesia. The type of the research used is qualitative with text study method. Data are collected through documentation and then analyzed using the content analysis method. The results of the research show that the history of sacrifice worship according to QS al-Ṣaffāt/37: 100-108 is divided into four episodes: (1) hope, (2) examination, (3) passing the exam, and (4) reward. There are eight values of Islamic education found in sacrifice worship: (1) faith, (2) morals, (3) patience, (4) resignation, (5) sincerity, (6) democratic, (7) dialogue, and (8) social. The values of Islamic education in the history of kurban worship has relevance to the main characteristics of learning design and the learning process which consists of planning, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up. In addition, it accommodates all values that will be developed in character education.

Abstract

This research analyzes the values of Islamic education in the history of kurban worship according to QS al-Ṣaffāt/37: 100-108 and its relevance to formal education. Abstract

This research aimed at finding out the implication of social change to social interactions in Bugis Soppeng society, with three focuses problems: the type of social interaction, the system of value in social interaction, and the implication of value transformation to social interaction. The method of this research is qualitative with historical, sociological, and philosophical approach. The source of data consist of informants from several components of Bugis Soppeng society such as: tradition personage, religion personage, historian, cultural observer, and government. The result of research earned that the social interaction of Bugis Soppeng society has three types: helping each other (selfless), cooperation (work/business relation), and competition. The value system in social interaction refers to three value sources: culture value, religion value, and modern value. The transformation of value impacts on: value system about social stratification, the caring pattern of children, society dreams, the relationship pattern between noble and ordinary society, the relationship pattern between parents and children (old generation and new generation). The implication of this research was assumed as the necessity of tradition, religion and modernization in social interaction.

Abstract

This article discusses acculturation of Islam and local culture in Indonesia which is focused on three main issues, namely 1) the form of acculturation of Islam and local culture; 2) the process of acculturation of Islam and local culture; and 3) the implications of acculturation of Islam and local culture towards the Islamic understanding of the ummah in Indonesia. This type of research is library research whose data are collected through documentation and analyzed using content analysis method. The results showed that acculturation of Islam and local culture was seen in traditional ceremonies, arts and architecture, and community value systems. Acculturation of Islam and local culture occurs because Islam has a universal side of meeting the local culture of the archipelago which requires affiliation and gets social support to develop. Acculturation of Islam and local culture in Indonesia resulted in the practice of local Islam which had implications for the emergence of three Islamic ideologies, namely traditionalist Islam, modernist Islam, and puritanical Islam. This study has implications for the teachings of Islam containing complete civilization, so it is necessary to do the Islamization of culture in the practice of local Islam in order to maintain the purity of Islamic teachings without losing the element of local culture. The philosophical meaning in the ritual symbols of traditional ceremonies must be interpreted according to Islam. This is an effort to purify the faith while accommodating local culture.

Abstract

AbstractThis research was aimed at analyzing the 1) existence of the Pondok Pesantren DDI Mangkoso as a traditional Islamic educational institution; 2) the dynamic policy of national education in the period of 1989-2018; 3) various national education policy accommodating by the Pondok Pesantren DDI Mangkoso; and 4) varied obstacles and experienced by the pesantren in accommodating national education policy and the solutions. The results of this research show that the Pondok Pesantren DDI Mangkoso is still kept existing as a traditional Islamic educational institution by preserving five roles: a place transforming classical Islamic sciences, Da’wah institution, Islamic tradition conservationists, Islamic scholar generating center, and community service and empowerment. The position change of pesantren in the national educational policy during 1989 – 2018 implicates dynamiclally to the Pondok Pesantren DDI Mangkoso. The accommodation forms of national education policy conducting by the Pondok Pesantren DDI Mangkoso are classical system, national education curriculum implementation, and standardizing the learning process and educators. Some obstacles facing in accommodating these forms are like culture and organizational structure wrestling, limited resource, and lack of community participation. This research has implications for the importance of the accumulation of cultural values, religious values, and modern values in pesantren so that it can compete amid the progress of educational institutions in general Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis 1) eksistensi Pondok Pesantren DDI Mangkoso sebagai representasi lembaga pendidikan Islam tradisonal; 2) dinamika kebijakan pendidikan nasional kurun waktu 1989-2018; 3) ragam kebijakan pendidikan nasional yang diakomodasi oleh Pondok Pesantren DDI Mangkoso; dan 4) ragam hambatan Pondok Pesantren DDI Mangkoso dalam mengakomodasi kebijakan pendidikan nasional beserta solusinya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan feno­menologi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Pondok Pesantren DDI Mangkoso tetap eksis sebagai lembaga pendidikan Islam tradisional meski melakukan pengembangan yang sifatnya modern dengan mempertahankan lima peran, yaitu: Tempat transmisi ilmu-ilmu Islam klasik, lembaga dakwah, peles­tari tradisi Islam, pusat reproduksi ulama, serta tempat pengab­dian dan pengem­bangan masyarakat. Perubahan posisi pesantren dalam kebijakan pendidikan nasional kurun waktu 1989-2018 berimplikasi terhadap kebijakan pendidikan Pondok Pesantren DDI Mangkoso yang dinami­kanya dibagi ke dalam tiga tahap, yaitu: transformasi kelembagaan, pemaduan kurikulum, dan penerapan paradigma inklusif berbasis budaya. Berbagai hambatan dalam akomodasi tersebut adalah pergumulan kultur dan struktur organisasi, keterbatasan sumber daya, dan minimnya partisipasi masyarakat. Penelitian ini berimplikasi pada perlunya akumulasi nilai tradisional, nilai agama, dan nilai modern oleh pesantren agar mampu bersaing bahkan menjadi inspirasi di tengah kemajuan lembaga pendidikan pada umumnya.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the essence of humans as pedagogic beings by focusing on optimizing fitrah, hearing, sight, and heart as human basic potential, as well as the implications of these various potentials for Islamic education. This study is a literature study whose data comes from documents and analyzed using content analysis method. The results of the study indicate that optimizing fitrah as a basic human potential must be through education and the creation of a conducive environment. Optimization of hearing, sight, and heart as a basic human potential by always directing it to respond to empirical stimuli not only to something that is material in nature but also to something that brings it closer to God. The essence of humans as pedagogical beings has implications for (1) the Islamic education system must be built on the integration between qalbiyah and aqliyah education; (2) Islamic education must be directed at being able to carry out the functions and objectives of the creation of humans (khalifah and ‘abd).

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the forms of demotivation of students in learning Arabic along with the solutions made by Arabic teachers in dealing with the demotivation of students. This research method is descriptive qualitative. Informants were selected using a purposive sampling technique from an Arabic teacher and several students of the DDI Mangkoso Islamic Boarding School. The data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation techniques and then analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques. The results showed that the students of the DDI Mangkoso Islamic Boarding School had five forms of demotivation in learning Arabic, namely: fear, value conflict, lack of freedom, lack of confidence, and boredom. Even some students experience two or more forms of demotivation in learning Arabic in themselves. The solution made by Arabic teachers in dealing with this demotivation is through the application of learning methods that enable students to converse in Arabic, such as exemplary methods, habituation, and labeling object names. This research has implications for the importance of the environment to motivate students in learning Arabic so that they are accustomed to conversing in Arabic without imposing a perfect mastery of Arabic grammar rules.
