This research focuses on word formation processes found in Forum Jual Beli Hewan dan Perlengkapan Hewan Kota Padang (Padang Facebook Trading Forum of Animals and Animals Equipment). The aims of this research are (1) to find types of word formation processes, and (2) to identify parts of speech of the terms involved. This research is a descriptive research. The results of the analysis of data are presented in the form of description and explanation. Data in this research were 95 special terms used in the activity of trading in FJB Hewan dan Perlengkapan Hewan Kota Padang. These data were gained and analyzed by means of observation and interpretation by the researcher. Results of the research show that there were nine processes of word formation involved in the creation of trading terms in FJB Hewan dan Perlengkapan Hewan Kota Padang. They were 34 borrowings (35,79%), 15 abbreviations (15.79%), 12 clippings (12.63%), 10 blendings (10, 53%), 9 compoundings (9,47%), 6 affixations (6,32%), 5 letter symbols (5,27%), 3 reduplications (3,16%), and 1 backformation (1,05%). Then, there were four parts of speech in which the trading terms belong to. They were 56 nouns (59%), 16 verbs (16.90%), 22 adjectives (23%), and 1 adverbs (1.05%).

Kurikulum pendidikan di Indonesia mengalami perubahan pada tahun 2013. Perubahan tersebut merupakan usaha untuk meningkatkan mutu pendidikan di Indonesia. Pada pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia, kurikulum yang digunakan adalah berbasis teks. Beberapa tahun kemudian, untuk mewujudkan visi dan misi agar masyarakat dapat beradaptasi dengan kemajuan pengetahuan dan teknologi, pemerintah mengeluarkan kebijakan tentang Gerakan Literasi Sekolah (GLS) dan diperbarui dengan Gerakan Literasi Nasional (GLN). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kegiatan literasi yang dilakukan di sekolah dan melihat respon siswa setelah dilaksanakan kegiatan literasi. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan untuk mempertimbangkan literasi sebagai inovasi kurikulum di sekolah. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan teknik wawancara terstruktur dan teknik pengumpulan angket. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah pedoman wawancara dan lembar kuesioner. Wawancara dilakukan dengan tujuh orang guru Bahasa Indonesia di Sumatera Barat dan Angket diisi oleh 30 orang siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam pelaksanaannya, literasi tidak dilaksanakan dengan aturan yang ditetapkan. Tujuan dari literasi tersebut juga tidak tercapai dengan mestinya. Dalam pelaksanaannya, kurikulum dan literasi seolah-olah merupakan dua hal yang berbeda dan pelaksanaan yang tidak sejalan. Padahal, kegiatan pembelajaran yang dilakukan merupakan kegiatan literasi. Khusus pada pembelajaran bahasa, literasi yang dilakukan adalah literasi baca dan tulis.

PENILAIAN OTENTIK KETERAMPILAN BERBICARA UNTUK KELAS I SEKOLAH LANJUTAN TINGKAT PERTAMAAbstractAuthentic assessment plays an important role in the process of learning evaluation. It covers three domains namely affective, psychomotor, and cognitive domains. To assess students’ speaking skill, teachers must apply appropriate authentic assessment to the students. This paper presents the result of a study on developing authentic assessment of speaking skill of English at grade 1 MTsN Batusangkar. Data were obtained through questionnaire, interview, validation checklist and practicality checklist. There were 32 students as the respondents. This paper revealed that there are six authentic assessment models appropriate for grade 1 Junior High School, they are role play, information gap, picture talks, brief question and answer, narrating sequences, and pair dialogue. It is suggested that teachers may apply the six authentic assessment models in assessing students’ speaking skill at grade 1 Junior High School. Key Words: authentic assessment, development model, speaking skill, junior high school.AbstrakPenilaian otentik memainkan peran penting dalam proses evaluasi pembelajaran. Penilaian otentik mencakup tiga domain yaitu: domain afektif, psikomotor, dan kognitif. Untuk menilai kemampuan berbicara siswa, guru harus menerapkan penilaian otentik yang sesuai dengan siswa. Artikel ini menyajikan hasil penelitian tentang pengembangan penilaian otentik untuk keterampilan berbicara di kelas I MTsN Batusangkar. Data diperoleh melalui kuesioner, wawancara, ceklis validasi dan ceklis kepraktisan. Ada 32 siswa sebagai responden. Makalah ini mengungkapkan bahwa ada enam model penilaian otentik yaitu role play, information gap, picture talks, pertanyaan singkat dan jawaban, narasi urutan dan dialog pasangan. Hal ini sangat disarankan bagi para guru untuk menerapkan enam model penilaian otentik dalam menilai kemampuan berbicara siswa.

Reference is an essential component for comprehending a reading text. In comprehending a text some students had problem such as their limited vocabulary, inability to interpret reference, and lack of background knowledge. The purpose of the research was to find out the students’ reference mastery in narrative text and students’ difficulties in mastering reference. This research was a descriptive research. Random sampling technique was applied and twenty two students of XI grade of SMAN 1 Tempuling were taken as the subject of the research. The data were collected through quantitative and qualitative methods. Reading test was distributed to collect quantitative data, while interview was applied to gather qualitative data. The findings of this research reveal that the students’ reference mastery was in good category, but some problems still appeared which were affected by some factors; lack of practice, limited vocabulary mastery, and poor grammar mastery. Thus, it can be concluded that the students’ reference mastery in narrative text needed to be improved.

Teaching strategy is necessary for the teaching and learning process. It is used as a way to present learning content in a way that engages the learners. It is assumed that applying appropriate teaching strategies has a positive impact on students' achievement. This study aimed to analyze students' perceptions of teacher's teaching strategy and its effect on students' achievement in learning English. This study was an Ex-post Facto study. The population of this study was the students who had studied English as a general subject at Universitas Negeri Padang in the academic year of January-June 2019. Cluster random sampling was used with 150 students as the sample of this study. Then, for collecting the data, two questionnaires and documents of students’ final scores were used as the instruments. The data was analyzed by using a Likert-type scale and regression linear statistical analysis through IBM SPSS Statistics 22 Software. The results showed that generally, students' perception of the teacher's teaching strategy was High. Then, based on the statistical analysis, it was found that thevalue of F-count was lower than F-table. It meant that the null hypothesis (H0) was accepted, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was rejected. Thus, there was no significant effect of student's perception of teaching strategy towards students' achievement in learning English as a general subject.

This article contains a study about the use of crossword media in improving the language skills of elementary school students as an effort to create a fun class. The problem was students’ lack of eagerness to emotionally involve in learning process. This condition caused an impact on students’ unsatisfaying learning outcomes that is 80. To overcome this problem, crossword puzzle media are used in learning by referring to the research models of Kemmis and Taggart. The data were collected by using observation sheets, interview guidelines, questionnaires, tests of student learning outcomes and field observations. At the end of the study, it was found that both the students’ learning outcomes and activities, and the teacher performance in planning and implementing teaching increased from cycle I to cycle II. As the result, the learning exceeded the target of the minimum standard of completeness. Thus, the utilization of crossword puzzles is considered to able to improve students' language skills, as well as create fun classes

Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), a methodology for teaching and learning content via a foreign language, has become a promising method for developing critical reading material and fostering students' analytical thinking and reasoning abilities in higher education. Numerous studies have examined the development of critical reading teaching materials, yet only some have focused on developing and implementing CLIL-based strategies in higher education. Therefore, this article explores the perceptions of English students and lecturers on implementing CLIL-based principles with interactive multimedia in developing critical reading material in higher education. The study collected data from students and teachers through questionnaires using a descriptive quantitative method. The closed-ended responses were analyzed by frequency and proportion, and compared between groups using the Mann-Whitney U test. Open-ended responses were categorized and analyzed through a matrix checklist to study a key variable or topic of public interest. The findings showed that most students believed that CLIL-based critical reading material using interactive multimedia enhanced their analytical thinking and reasoning abilities concerning the subject content. They also believed their learning outcomes would improve. All lecturers believed that the need for CLIL-based critical reading material employing the integration of interactive multimedia is essential, especially in an online learning setting. Furthermore, the lectures stated that engaging with critical reading material using interactive multimedia in the classroom increased the students’ motivation, promoting interaction among students and developing essential logical and cognitive competencies. Overall, the student and lecturer groups corroborated the need to further implement CLIL-based critical reading material development by using interactive multimedia in higher education.

The general guidelines of Indonesian word formation as annexed in appendix II of the reference standard of the Indonesian Grammar has not yet accommodated the Indonesian word formation system used by the Indonesian speakers today. Meanwhile, a new system of word formation began to emerge and the old paradigm shift in conjunction with the development of science and technology, and the change of social, cultural, and political paradigm. As a result, the reference standard of Indonesian grammar is no longer adequate to understand the system of the formation of the new words. Morphological studies, which analyze the internal structure of the words can be used as a theoretical foundation to address the issues of the Indonesian word formation. From the other side, sociolinguistic studies, which analyze the link of language with the language speakers in the community, can give meaning to the word formation shift. This article discusses (1) the morphological shift of the Indonesian word formation system of acronyms, blending, and clipping, (2) the sociolinguistic functions of the word formation, and (3) the productivity of the word formation system. The study of the shift of word formation system revealed a shift in the way of thinking and the way of looking at social, cultural, and political problems of the Indonesian speakers nowadays. Sementara itu, sistem pembentukan kata baru mulai bermunculan menggeser paradigma lama bersamaan dengan perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi, serta perubahan paradigma sosial, budaya, dan politik. Akibatnya, standar acuan tata bahasa Indonesia sudah tidak memadai lagi untuk memahami sistem pembentukan kata baru. Kajian morfologi, yang menganalisa struktur internal kata dapat dijadikan landasan teoritis untuk mengatasi permasalahan pembentukan kata bahasa Indonesia. Dari sisi lain, kajian sosiolinguistik, yang menganalisa hubungan bahasa dengan penutur bahasa di masyarakat, bisa memberi makna pada pergeseran pembentukan kata ini. Artikel ini membahas (1) pergeseran morfologis sistem pembentukan kata dalam bahasa Indonesia pada bentuk akronim, blending, dan kliping, (2) fungsi sosiolinguistik dari pembentukan kata, dan (3) produktivitas sistem pembentukan kata. Application are software designed to run on electronic devices such as computers, smartphones, tablets or other devices. Apps can serve a variety of purposes, including helping users perform certain tasks, accessing information, interacting with other users, entertaining, or performing other functions desired by the user. The purpose of this research is to see how effectively the use of the Wattpad application can support language learning media in schools. The Wattpad application is a digital platform-based application that allows users to read, send and share stories and works of fiction in text form submitted by other users or authors registered on the Wattpad platform. The research subjects were junior high school level students. The interview method is used as a tool to collect data. The results of the study show that the Wattpad application is a language learning medium that can improve learning outcomes. The rest admitted that they were very interested in learning reading and writing skills through Wattpad. In addition, the Wattpad application also provides a fun learning experience for students.
