Abstract

The development of teacher professional abilities through training is an effort to improve teacher performance by increasing their professional competence. The main objective of developing teacher professional abilities through training is to solve teacher performance weaknesses both at present and in the future towards a more desirable level of performance. Because the development of teacher professional abilities through training is so important and requires a lot of money, it is necessary to research to find a real effect on teacher competence and performance. The research problems formulated are: 1) dimensions of teacher professional ability development through training; 2) teacher professional competence; and 3) teacher performance. The research approach is quantitative with a sample of 335 from a population of 2,064 junior high school teachers in Bandung. Data were obtained from teachers using a questionnaire. The data is processed and interpreted using path analysis as an inferential statistical technique by first testing statistical assumptions, including transforming ordinal data into intervals and data normality testing. The study concluded that the development of teacher professional abilities can improve teacher competence and performance, which is expected to ultimately improve the quality of student learning. The implications include: 1) it is necessary to develop effective training; and 2) competence with performance is important to promote better teaching and learning. Based on these implications, there are several recommendations, namely: 1) increasing the development of teacher professional abilities through technical assistance and quality control group forums; (2) designing the development of teacher professional abilities that have a direct impact on the teaching and learning process; (3) develop a model with competency as the dependent variable; and (4) recommend the human side of the organization as a determinant factor that needs to be investigated.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to find out how difficult mathematics teachers in applying online learning during the covid-19 pandemic in SMPN 1 Karawang Timur. This type of research is skinative research. The research subject is a math teacher at SMPN1 Karawang Timur kleas VII. Data collection using interview guidelines and documentation. Based on the above explanation, it can be concluded that the difficulties experienced by math teachers in class VII in SMPN 1 Karawang Timur are : teachers find it difficult to motivate students, difficult to determine teaching materials, difficult to make learning aids due to lack of IT mastery, difficult to create an effective learning atmosphere because students who are not active then find it difficult to determine learning models and difficult to convey material, and it is difficult to know condition of students while studying. As for the way to overcome the difficulties of math teacher class VII in SMPN 1 Karawang Timur, namely: using whatsapp and contacting or calling the parents of students.Keywords: covid-19, Difficulty of math teachers, Online learning.

Abstract

Mathematics is an essential subject to study so that it must be pursued in its implementation and possible. The existence of the covid-19 pandemic requires all learning activities to be carried out online. But in practice, online learning experiences several obstacles, especially in learning mathematics. For this reason, the purpose of this study is to describe the constraints in the online-based mathematics learning process (e-learning). This study uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The subjects in this study were students of class VIII SMPN 1 Rawamerta. The research instrument was in the form of a student response questionnaire regarding online-based learning (e-learning), which consisted of seven closed questions and four open questions. Data collection was carried out by distributing the google link form to the student response questionnaire to the research subject. Data analysis was carried out descriptively by testing the validity of the data through triangulation techniques. The results showed that students' obstacles in online-based mathematics learning (e-learning) were technical and personal constraints. Technical constraints are in the form of an unstable internet network, internet quota, and teacher explanations that are not heard clearly. In contrast, unique constraints are the lack of students in understanding the learning material and feeling lazy to take online-based mathematics learning.

Abstract

Pembelajaran matematika selain mengembangkan pada aspek kognitif siswa juga mengembangkan pada aspek afektif siswa. Aspek afektif salah satunya adalah self efficacy atau efikasi diri yang artinya keyakinan diri terhadap kemampuan yang dimiliki. Self efficacy matematika mempengaruhi keberhasilan dalam pembelajaran matematika. Penelitian ini dilakukan yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui self efficacy matematika dalam pembelajaran di SMPN 2 Karawang Barat. Subjek penelitian ini adalah kelas VIII A berjumlah 37 siswa. Data diperoleh dengan menggunakan instrumen angket yang terdiri dari 18 pernyataan. Berdasarkan hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata skor keseluruhan adalah 11,40 berada dalam kategori sedang. Indikator self efficacy ada 5, yaitu indikator pertama memperoleh rata-rata 11,51 berada pada kategori sedang, indikator kedua 12,14 kategori sedang, indikator ketiga 11,62 kategori sedang, indikator keempat 13,24 kategori sedang, indikator kelima 8,50 kategori tinggi.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students interest in learning mathematics, especially in the material of three variable linear equation systems. The subjects of this study were X class high school students in one of the public high schools in Karawang. The research instrument used was students interest with 18 item statements containing positive statements and negative statements and containing 4 (four) indicators of interest in learning, including : 1) Feelings of pleasure/like, 2) Attention, 3) Interest, and 4) Student involvement as well as the results of observations during the mathematics learning process, especially in the SPLTV material. The results obtained in this study indicate that each indicator of students interest in learning falls into the sufficient category with a proportion of more than 50%.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students' metacognitive abilities in solving math problems in terms of gender. The type of research used in this research is qualitative with a descriptive exploratory approach. The subjects of this study were two students of grade 7 SMP Negeri 2 Sukatani. The instruments used were tests and interviews. With the data analysis technique using 4 flow, namely: 1) data collection, 2) data reduction, 3) presentation of data, and 4) drawing conclusions. The indikators used are three elements, namely planning, monitoring, and assessment (evaluation). The results of this study indicate that male students are not good enough to apply metacognition skills in solving math problems, because male students have not met the three indikators, only reaching 1 indikator, namely at the planning stage. Meanwhile, female students have implemented metacognition skills well, because they have fulfilled three indikators, namely planning, monitoring, and evaluation

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the interest in learning mathematics online of students who are members of the StudyGram community and the positive impact it has. So that learning innovations can be developed using StudyGram to increase interest in learning mathematics online. The research method is descriptive research. The population in the study were 13 students of grade VII SMP who are members of the StudyGram community in Indonesia, the sample was taken by purposive sampling, with the following inclusion criteria: 1) Having a StudyGram account; 2) Class VII high school students in Indonesia. Exclusion criteria; 1) Not actively posting learning materials; 2) Not part of the StudyGram community in the WhatsApp group. The data collection technique used a scale questionnaire of students' mathematics learning interest which contained 10 statements with 7 indicators. The data analysis technique uses the formula for the percentage of students' answers and is described by the criteria for interpreting the percentage of answers. The results of the analysis show that students in the study program community have an interest in learning mathematics, this can be seen from the majority of students having an interest in learning mathematics. With this, online learning innovations can be developed using StudyGram.

Abstract

Statistical literacy skills are an important aspect that students need to have in building life skills during the pandemic. An alternative that can be done in building statistical literacy skills is through learning mathematics, especially in statistical material. This article aims to describe the statistical literacy skills of students during online learning during the pandemic, as well as to describe the difficulties experienced by students in solving problems related to statistical concepts. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The subjects in this study were 25 students of class X at SMAN 1 Setu Bekasi. The data collection technique was carried out using a statistical literacy ability test instrument with the scope of the test material, namely Statistical material. This study resulted in the acquisition of the percentage of students' statistical literacy skills which were still low in each indicator. The ability of students to interpret the data indicators has the largest percentage, which is 68%. And on the indicator presenting the data, it gets the lowest percentage, which is 46%. Some students still cannot understand statistical concepts well so they are not able to present data and provide statistical conclusions correctly.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to describe student’s mathematical understanding concept abilities based on concentration of learning. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The subjects of this study were students of class VIII at one of junior high schools in Karawang and then choose 3 people based on considerations made by researchers through purposive sampling and through the levels concentration of learning, namely high, medium, and low. Data collection techniques in this study used a mathematical understanding concept abilities test, and concentration of learning questionnaires. The results of the study based on the analysis that has been done show that: students in the category of high learning concentration can fulfillall indicators of the ability understanding mathematical concepts, students in the category of middle learning concentration can fulfill 2 indicators of the ability understanding mathematical concepts, and students in the category of low learning concentration can fulfill 1 indicator of the ability understanding mathematical concepts.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out how big the level of student error when solving mathematical problems on exponential material based on the type of Newman error in class X MIPA 1 SMA At-Taubah Tirtamulya which consisted of several types of errors including (1) errors due to lack of accuracy or carelessness, (2) errors in process skills, (3) errors in understanding questions, (4) errors in notation, and (5) errors in concept. There were 20 students during the research and then 5 subjects were selected for analysis and interviews. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. This study uses data collection techniques in the form of description tests and interviews. This study uses data analysis techniques, namely reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The result of the study found that students errors when working on exponential material problems with the types of errors due to lack of accuracy or carelessness, errors in process skills, errors in understanding questions, and errors in using notation were classified as very low, while the types of errors in concept were classified as moderate. The type of student error that the researchers found the least in this study was notational error, while errors in concepts were the most common errors found in this study.
