Abstract

Abstract Childhood memories have characteristics, have a link to a phenomenon called infantile amnesia, and can affect someone afterwards, particularly in adulthood. This study aims to describe Pari’s childhood memories depicted in And the Mountains Echoed novel and to reveal those childhood memories’ impact on Pari. As the tools for data analysis, firstly concept of memory will be delivered as a base to underlie childhood memories. The theory of childhood memories by Mark L. Howe and Patrick Estrade will be used to analyse the data. The data of the study is taken from author’s description and characters dialogue in And the Mountains Echoed novel which represent the childhood memories of Pari. The data is collected using library method and close reading technique. The analysis is presented using descriptive qualitative method. The result of analysis shows that Pari experiences infantile amnesia and her childhood memories are tend to be retained for a short period of time and rapidly decayed, are easily to be interfered, and can be categorized as autobiographical memories of child. At the beginning, childhood memories give negative impact on Pari. They brings her to a great confusion, it is because she is unable to recollect her own childhood memories. Finally, the childhood memories give positive impact on her, since she has seeked and found her big brother and her own roots by recollecting her childhood memories from another character. Keywords: childhood memories, infantile amnesia, early memory development.

Abstract

The objective of this work was to study the virulence of 15 Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo) isolates collected in three provinces in Indonesia (North Sumatra, South Sumatra, and South Sulawesi) based on five Indonesian differential rice genotypes and 10 near isogenic lines (NILs) that have been known to differ in their resistance to bacterial leaf blight (BLB), in a greenhouse assessment. In addition, this study also aims to monitor the responses of 31 rice genotypes (21 NILs, five differentials, five improved cultivars) to BLB disease in a field experiment. The 15 isolates showed different virulence patterns on the NILs’genotypes with a single resistance gene indicating the pathogen diversity. Eight different pathotypes were present, as demonstrated by a particular virulence pattern of each isolate on the genotypes. Determination of Xoo pathotype revealed that Xoo pathotypes responded differently based on their reaction to NILs and Indonesian differential genotypes. The field assessment demonstrated the incidence and severity of BLB disease on rice genotypes ranging from 25% to 100% and 5.5% to 72.91%, respectively, while the mean disease index ranged from 1.15% to 72.9%. The disease response varied among rice genotypes. IRBB50 (Xa4+xa5), IRBB51 (Xa4+xa13), IRBB52 (Xa4+Xa21), IRBB53 (Xa4+Xa21), IRBB56 (Xa4+xa5+xa13), IRBB57 (Xa4+xa5+Xa21), IRBB59 (Xa4+xa13+Xa21), IRBB64 (Xa4+xa5+Xa7+Xa21), IRBB66 (Xa4+xa5+Xa7+xa13+Xa21), IRBB7(Xa7), Angke (Xa4+xa5) and Code (Xa4+Xa7) were revealed to be highly resistant to the BLB pathogen. These genotypes have potential as genetic material for the pyramiding of several resistance genes for the development of rice resistance to BLB disease in Indonesia.

Abstract

This Final Project research with the title "the effect of Foreign Object Damage at Air Side on aviation safety and security' the purpose of this study is, to determine and test that, the accumulation of garbage in Air Side has an effect on aviation safety and security, as well as to improve safety, and aviation security. The author uses descriptive quantitative research methods , with data collection techniques in the form of observation, literature study, distributing questionnaires to Apron Movement Control and Ground Handling personnel and conducting interviews with Apron Movement Control personnel. The author chooses a quantitative descriptive research method because the results obtained are in the form of numbers and are clear so that the author can use the Likert Scale research instrument to get the results of the research that has been done, by calculating each one of the statements, then ranked using the Spearman Rank formula, and conclude the results of the interview answers that the author has done. The results of the discussion "the effect of garbage accumulation at Air Side on aviation safety and security' the authors get the results that the accumulation of garbage at Ground Support Equipment affects the safety and security of flights. Temporary garbage storage places that are not in accordance with the regulations, and the use of the Ground Support Equipment (Baggage cart) facility as a place to transport garbage results that it affects aviation safety and security. The conclusion of this study is that garbage in the Air Side disturbs aviation safety and security so that supporting facilities for cleanliness are needed, so that flight services at Kalimarau Berau Airport can run smoothly.

Abstract

There are many things should be prepared for the Human Resource (HR), to guarantee the promise future and career. The 5.0 era hopes that technology and human are going to live harmoniously in order to improve the quality of human life on an ongoing basis and facilitate the human interest. Meanwhile, in 4.0 era, the social ecosystem accesses a database in cyberspace from the internet and searches, retrieves and analyzes information or data. The society 5.0 is very dependent on cyberspace (visual room) and physical space. In this era, the English ability is very important to achieve. Moreover, there should be any efforts to improve it. The purpose of this study is to describe the efforts of maritime educational institutions in facing the 5.0 era using applications affecting the cadet’s competence of English at PIP Semarang. This type of research is quantitative method with ‘one group pre-test post-test pre-experimental (non-design)’. To complete the data, it could be done by using observation, documentation and library research. Meanwhile the analysis of research data used validity and reliability. The results of the study showed that an application has affected to improve the cadet’ English ability. The conclusion is the application is one of the efforts of maritime education to face 5.0 era in education technology as consequently green planet sustainability.

Abstract

The study aims to find out and increase knowledge about the reproduction broodstock of vaname shrimp in PT. Esaputlii Prakarsa Utama. The data analysis methods used are descriptive and quantitative analysis. Vaname shrimp broodstock management techniques activities start from water procurement, tub/pond preparation, broodstock procurement, acclimatization, eye abalation, maturation and maintenance including feed management and water quality, spawning, hatching eggs to harvesting. The results showed that the amount of feeding ranged from 500 grams/tub for squid feed, 1 kg/tub for sea worm feed. Broodstock who are able to spawn have an average of 41-42 /day from an average number of 333 shrimp. The percentage of female vanames that spawn ranges from 84%/day. The number of eggs produced by vaname shrimp reached 100,250–261,923 eggs in one month, the average egg that was fertilized was 9,668,333 and produced naupli as many as 8,955,000. The water quality parameters obtained during the research were still in a good range for vannamei shrimp.
