Abstract

The two most important parameters in driving are comfort and stability. To get the best value from that parameter, then the role of the vehicle suspension system is very important to reduce the vibration due to road waves and keep the wheels sticking above the road. This study studied the effect of suspension type on comfort level and vehicle stability. The type of suspension is related to the value of spring stiffness and its damping value. While the vehicle is modeled in one degree of freedom. The test is carried out with vehicle loading including mass of vehicle and passenger for each type of suspension, ie soft, medium and hard. Vibration analysis is done using Matlab Simulink to get the acceleration response and its deflection response. The vibration response graph shows the comparison of comfort level and vehicle stability on the road profiles modeled in step, impulse, and sinusiodal functions. From the simulation results obtained that Soft and Medium Suspension can handle the vibration very well especially from the level of response speed for a relatively flat road. Meanwhile, Suspension type Hard very good damp vibration for high wavy road.

Abstract

The comfort of the vehicle passenger of the vehicle and its stability are the important variables that are always needed by everyone who uses transportation. In order to achieve this goal, the suspension of the vehicle will play an important role because its function is to isolate passengers from the effects of excitation from outside the vehicle and also to control the wheels attached to the road surface. Therefore in this study, the influence of various types of suspensions on vehicle vibrations is observed in terms of comfort and stability. The type of suspension in this study is related to the level of suspensión stiffness namely the spring and the damper. Vehicle modeling to be applied in a one-wheeled vehicle with two degrees of freedom. The experimental study is conducted by loading of vehicle body weight and passengers to three type of suspension, soft, medium and hard. Vibration responses to be analyzed on the vehicle equation using Matlab to obtain the acceleration response of the displacement and the defelction. This research obtains a vibration response graph for each type of suspension for some kind of road profile.

The test is carried out by loading the vehicle including the mass of the vehicle and passengers for each type of suspension, namely soft, medium and hard. The vibration response graph shows the comparison of the level of comfort and stability of the vehicle on the road profile modeled in step, impulse and sinusoidal functions. From the simulation results, it is found that the Soft and Medium Suspension can handle vibration very well, especially from the level of response speed for relatively flat roads. Meanwhile, the Hard type of suspension is very good at dampening vibrations for high bumpy roads.

Abstract

The research objective was to determine the effect of heating base temperature on tensile strength and hardness of AA 1100 welds in Friction Stir Welding (FSW). The research methodology includes preparing work pieces of size 150 mm x 100 mm x 3.6 mm from aluminium alloy AA1100 series, making work piece clamps that are suitable for the milling machine used, preparing heating plates 500 Watt for FSW, preparing tools from AISI-H13 material with a shoulder diameter of 20 mm and pin size of M5 x 3.4 mm for FSW, the implementation of FSW with a rotating speed of 1750 rpm and translation speed of 10 mm/minute, preparing hardness test specimens, preparing tensile test specimens refers to ASTM E8-13a, and data analysis of hardness test and tensile test results. The FSW results show that the hardness value increases with the increase in the width of the heating plate linearly for a temperature of 200oC from 10 mm to 30 mm which indicates better conditions, meanwhile decreases at a temperature of 175oC for heating plate width from 10 mm to 20 mm, but increases to 30 mm which is different for the temperature of 250oC and temperature of 300oC which have increased from 10 mm to 20 mm, but decreases towards 30 mm, and than the correlation between AA 1100 tensile strength and surface hardness of 3 heating plate widths is shown with the function of tensile strength, s (MPa) = -0.9699 x surface hardness (HV) + 102.01.

Abstract

The problems faced are aluminium (Al) waste from industries that damage the environment and scarcity of Al raw materials that need to be recycled from used Al. The research objective was to determine the effect of adding magnesium (Mg) to used Al casting on the tensile strength and microstructure and to determine the comparison of the tensile strength of the Al material used by the piston to the brake lining and drum of motorcycles. The research method includes casting Al used pistons, brake lining and drum, testing the tensile strength and microstructure due to the addition of 0.1; 0.2; 0.5 and 1.0% by weight Mg to the tensile strength and microstructure. The results showed that the addition of Mg 0.5% by weight could increase the tensile strength of 92.96% from 71 MPa to 137 MPa for brake lining as the optimum value which further decreased the tensile strength by 19.7% at the addition of 1% Mg to 110 MPa. Drum material also experienced an increase in tensile strength of 33.71% from 89 MPa to 119 MPa as the optimum value where the tensile strength decreased by 5.88% for the addition of 1% Mg to 112 MPa. The two values of the tensile strength of the brake lining and drum components are lower than those of the piston component valued at 147 MPa, and with the addition of Mg, Mg2Si is formed which can reduce the porosity of the microstructure, thereby increasing its strength.

Abstract

Dalam kegiatan Pengabdian Pada Masyarakat (PPM) ini dilakukan pelatihan pengelasan bagi warga RT 05 RW 10, Desa Kedungrejo, Kecamatan Pakis, Kabupaten Malang. Pelatihan dilakukan dengan dua metode, yaitu pelatihan secara teoritis dan pelatihan secara praktik. Pelatihan secara teoritis bertujuan untuk mengenalkan pengelasan bagi peserta pelatihan mencakup definisi las, kalsifikasi las, dan metode pengelasan. Sementara itu pelatihan secara praktik bertujuan untuk memberikan ketrampilan teknis bagi peserta pelatihan dalam hal melakukan proses pengelasan. Jenis las yang akan digunakan dalam pelatihan ini adalah las busur listrik. Dalam pelatihan pengelasan ini, warga diarahkan untuk membuat portal jalan sebagai produk akhir dari pengelasan. Portal ini diharapkan dapat menjadi infrastruktur untuk mencegah terjadinya tindak kriminal, khususnya ancaman kejahatan terhadap hak/milik. Hasil perhitungan statistic Uji-T menunjukkan terdapat perubahan kemampuan teori dan praktik las dari peserta setelah mengikuti pelatihan. Kemampua teori las meningkat secara rata-rata dari 41 menjadi 85, sedangkan kemampuan praktik kerja las meningkat secara rata-rata dari 56 menjadi 93. Pada akhir kegiatan PPM ini dihasilkan empat buah portal yang dipasang di dua jalan pada masing-masing ujung jalannya. PPM ini terbukti memberi manfaat dengan berhasil meningkatkan kemampuan praktik las dari peserta sekaligus menghasilkan sarana infrastruktur yang menunjang kemanan lingkungan dengan tersedianya portal.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan melakukan studi kelayakan berupa perencanaan, simulasi dan analisis teknis maupun ekonomis pemasangan solar rooftop sistem on-grid di gedung Teknik Mesin Politeknik Negeri Malang (Polinema). Metode perencanaan dan simulasi menggunakan software PvSyst 6.88. Kajian kelayakan instalasi solar rooftop ini berdasarkan : Net Present Value (NPV), Profitability Index (PI) dan Pay Back Period (PBP).Kebutuhan listrik di bengkel mesin adalah 505,8 kWh/hari. Daya Rencana solar rooftop sebesar 332 kWh (65,6%) dan sisanya dari PLN. Hasil simulasi diperoleh panel surya tipe monocrystalline 440 Wp sebanyak 169 unit dan 6 unit inverter jaringan 12 kVa.Energi listrik yang diproduksi dapat mencapai 101,6 MWh/tahun. Performa sistem sebesar 83,63%. Modal awal adalah Rp. 1.281.440.000,00, NPV adalah Rp. 919.842.956,00, dan PI bernilai 1,72. Sehingga estimasi PBP adalah 11,18 tahun. Sehingga berdasarkan aspek teknis dan aspek ekonomis, proyek Solar Rooftop On-Grid ini dinilai layak dilaksanakan.Kata kunci: studi kelayakan, tenaga surya, solar rooftop, on-grid, PvSyst ABSTRACTThe purpose of this research is to conduct a feasibility study on installing a solar rooftop on-grid system at the State Polytechnic of Malang's Mechanical Engineering building, which will include design, simulation, and technical and economic analysis.PvSyst 6.88 software is used in the planning and simulation methods.Analysis of investment feasibility consists of Net Present Value (NPV), Profitability Index (PI), and Pay Back Period (PBP). The electricity demand in the machine workshop reaches 505.8 kWh/day. The solar rooftop solar plan power is 332 kWh (65.6%) and the rest is from PLN. The simulation results obtained 169 units of 440 Wp monocrystalline solar panels and 6 units of 12 kVa grid inverters. The electrical energy produced can reach 101.6 MWh/year. The performance ratio is 83.63%.The total investment is IDR 1,281,440,000with an NPV of IDR 919,842,956, and PI is 1.72. So the estimated PBP is 11.18 years. Abstract

Wortel merupakan tanaman buah yang juga mengandung vitamin A yang salah satunya bermanfaat bagi mata. Dengan adanya ragam kebutuhan olahan dasar wortel sehingga menjadikan produk olahan wortel meningkat, salah satunya jajanan risol ataupun adonan bubur bayi. Produsen olahan dasar wortel pada industri menengah kebawah masih banyak yang menggunakan cara manual dengan pisau tangan dan membutuhkan waktu yang cukup lama untuk proses perajangan wortel. Tujuan perancangan mesin perajang wortel ini untuk meningkatkan kinerja pada proses perajangan dan mempersingkat waktu produksi dalam usaha olahan bahan dasar wortel.Metode desain dan pembuatan mesin perajang wortel ini meliputi: menentukan mekanisme mesin perajang wortel, perhitungan daya motor yang diperlukan, perhitungan susunan transmisi, perhitungan diameter poros, perhitungan rasio gearbox, pemilihan material, serta pembuatan gambar kerja mesin perajang wortel.Hasil dari desain berupa gambar kerja dan gambar susunan dengan dimensi 940 x 600 x 725 mm, serta material yang dipilih yaitu baja karbon St 37 untuk mendapatkan harga yang ekonomis agar dapat dijangkau oleh industri menengah kebawah dan SS 304 untuk menjaga kualitas produk agar teteap higienis. Total estimasi harga jual mesin perajang wortel kapasitas 75 kg/jam adalah Rp 4.477.000,00.

Abstract

Makanan ringan dari bahan pisang, umbi, kentang dan tepung senantiasa digemari oleh Masyarakat Indonesia. UMKM Fany merupakan usaha kecil di Kabupaten Malang yang memproduksi keripik. Proses produksi keripik yang dilakukannya memiliki beberapa masalah, salah satunya adalah tingkat minyak yang tinggi pada keripik pisang. Kadar minyak yang tinggi menyebabkan keripik menjadi lembek, berminyak, tidak crunchy, dan kurang tahan lama. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah untuk mengatasi kesulitan yang dihadapi mitra selama proses produksi keripik dengan memanfaatkan teknologi tepat guna, seperti mesin peniris minyak. Metode yang digunakan berupa survey dan wawancara kepada pemilik UMKM Fany yang memproduksi produk keripik, lalu pembuatan alat dan terakhir pelatihan serta serah terima alat. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah usaha bapak Sodiq telah meningkat kualitas dan kuantitas produk olahan keripik pisangnya. Mitra mampu mengoperasikan mesin peniris minyak serta memahami cara perawatan mesin dengan benar.
