Abstract

Avocado is high in fat, contained in the development of forms of mono-unsaturated fats (monounsaturated fatty acids), namely omega-9: 72.2% oleic acid. This fatty acid configuration can inhibit the absorption of cholesterol in intestines and not easily oxidized than linoleum and lino-lenic acid. Therefore, it improves blood serum cholesterol levels. This study aims to analyze the changes in HDL and LDL cholesterol in the serum of mice  hypercholesterolemic effect of omega-9 oleic acid on the avocado fruit mesocarp. The design of this study is the pre and post with control group (ran-domized control pre post test design). Animal experiment (Rattus norve-gicus strain Sprague Dawley) was given treatment: P0 group was given standard food + 0 mg avocado fruit mesocarp; P1 groups was given stan-dard food + avocado fruit mesocarp dose 1.35 g / day; the group P2 was given standard food + avocado fruit mesocarp 2.7 g / day; groups P3 of rats was given standard food + avocado fruit mesocarp dose 4.05 g / day. The result showed a decrease of  blood serum levels of LDL cholesterol, and elevated levels of blood serum HDL cholesterol, which is significant at 5% probability level. The conclusion is oleic acid omega-9 in the avocado fruit mesocarp  has the potential to lower LDL cholesterol blood serum of rats. Abstract

OPTIMIZATION OF TNF – α AND IL-3 USES TOMATOES (Lycopercicum esculentumMill var. grandifolium) AS EFFORTS IN INCREASING MACROPHAGE PHAGOCYTOSIS TO BACTERIAL INFECTION ABSTRACT TNF –α and IL-3 are sitokin stimulates macrophage phagocytosis to the activity in eliminating bacteria. Karotenoid is come from natural resources, one of them is tomatoes, as known carotene and likopen  have potential in increasing TNF –α and IL-3. Mencit balb/c in normal condition are 24 tails randomly uses thermal variations: (500C, 1000C dan 1500C)  role to sitokin TNF –α and IL-3 content.  The result shows tomatoes preparasi in 1500C is (p<0.05) effects sitokin content of TNF –α and IL-3 highest. Key words: TNF –α, IL-3, tomatoes   ABSTRAK TNF –α dan IL-3 merupakan  sitokin yang berperan untuk merangsang fagositosis makrofag dalam mengeliminasi bakteri. Karotenoid yang berasal dari sumber alami , salah satunya dalam buah tomat  . Diketahui karoten dan likopen yang berpotensi meningkatkan TNF –α dan IL-3. Mencit balb/c keadaan normal sebanyak 24 ekor dipilih secara random digunakan untuk menyelidiki pengaruh preparasi buah tomat (Lycopercicum esculentumMill var. grandifolium) yang matang dengan variasi suhu : (500C, 1000C dan 1500C) terhadap kadar sitokin TNF –α dan IL-3 dari kultur sel makrofag. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan preparasi buah tomat dengan suhu 1500C  secara bermakna (p<0.05) menyebabkan kadar sitokin TNF –α dan IL-3 yang paling tinggi . Key words: TNF –α, IL-3, buah tomat

Abstract

This reserach aimed to analyze the effect of mangosteen peel infusionin flammatory cells on mice pharynx. The design used RandomizedControl Design Post Test. It analyzed with Kruskal-Wallis nonparametric95%. The results showed inflammatory cells was 157.7 ±10.41 for control (P0), 337.5 ± 18.48 for treatments P1, 287.5 ± 11.90to 247.5 ± treatments P2 and P3 19.36 for treatment. The conclusionfor this research was infusion mangosteen peel significantly affectedon the number of inflammatory cells (p<0.05).Keywords: inflammatory cells, infusia mangosteen rind(Garcinia mangostana L), pharynx
