Abstract

The depletion of petroleum reserves makes the emergence of a variety of alternative energy, one of which is Biodiesel. Biodiesel is a fatty acid ester derived from vegetable oil or animal by transesterification or esterification reaction. The purpose of this study was conducted to determine the effect of the use of fuel mixture of biodiesel jelantah with heating 950C to power, torque and Sfc. The test is done by loading the lamp load from 200 - 3200 watt on variation of biodiesel fuel volume by 30%, 40% and 50%. The research method used is descriptive analysis where the result of research is described and described based on research result. From the test results resulted in the addition of biodiesel jelantah fuel effect on power, torque and Sfc generated diesel motor.

Abstract

Collision test is needed in transportation area in order to anticipate injuries of passangers when the accident occurred. Therefore, this test must be done for achieving standar requirements which is known by crashworthiness. This paper discussed about development of crasworthiness test by using modelling impact transferability by numerical simulation. The goal is to know the error of maximum deformation when given axial dynamic loading between numerical simulation and real experiment. Furthermore, analitic was used to validate duration of stress wave propagation from result of numerical simulation. This simulation used explicit finite element method by using PAM-Crash. The component of this research was impactor and impact of transferability with 80 and 27 kg of mass. The square tube-thin walled structure with holes as crush initator 3 mm of diameter was used as specimen. The result shows maximum deformation and duration of stress propagation error which are 3.90 % and 14.89 %.

Abstract

Tingginya pertumbuhan jumlah kendaraan bermotor serta konsumsi bahan bakar minyak di Indonesia telah menimbulkan masalah terhadap lingkungan dan penyedian bahan bakar ini. Permasalahan ini makin rumit karena [A1]subsidi untuk pengadaannya sangat memberatkan Anggaran Pendapatan dan Belanja Negara. Oleh karena itu harus terus dilakukan upaya komprehensif untuk mencari solusi terbaiknya. Dalam makalah ini dibahas hasil penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mengurangi emisi dan menurunkan konsumsi bahan bakar sepeda motor, dengan mengkonversi penggunaan bahan bakar bensin dengan LPG yang biasa digunakan untuk memasak. Pengujian dilakukan di laboratorium menggunakan dinamometer chassis untuk membandingkan torsi, daya, tingkat konsumsi bahan bakar serta biaya operasi, pada sebuah mesin sepeda motor berkarburator menggunakan bahan bakar bensin dan LPG, baik tanpa pengubahan kondisi pengapian maupun dengan mengubah kondisi pengapian. Dari penelitian ini didapatkan bahwa bahan bakar LPG memiliki unjuk kerja yang baik dan dapat digunakan secara langsung tanpa mengubah kondisi pengapiannya. Akan tetapi kinerjanya akan lebih baik jika kondisi pengapiannya disesuaikan. Tingkat konsumsi terbaik LPG adalah 86 km/kg atau senilai Rp.58/km sedangkan bensin 66 km/l atau Rp.98/km.

Abstract

The traditional method of making salted eggs usually using the salting, which is done well, its needs time about 14 days. This condition indicated to have a method that can speed up the process of salting the eggs. The process of salting eggs normally uses the usual soaking method where the eggs are coated with bricks and rubbing ash then left to stand. The diffusion of salt penetration in traditional salting takes place slowly. For this reason, the speed of salt penetration can be done by increasing the salt level in the soaking solution so that the penetration of salt into the eggs can take place faster. This methodology in this research study using of air pressure to speed up the process of salting the eggs. The method used is to use air pressure with the use of compressor air pressure at a pressure of 4 - 6 Bar with a salting test time of about 4 to 7 hours

Abstract

The use of Split of Air Conditioning (AC) which is usually used for air conditioning for human convenience. In this study a split AC was used for drying rice. Rice drying using Split AC is a type of artificial drying that has an advantage compared to natural, which is shorter drying. In Split AC the hot air generated from the condenser released into the environment is useless will be flowed through the air duct to be used for drying rice. The use of condenser heat is carried out to find out how to grow rice by using variations in the condenser fan speed regulation. In Split AC, it is done to find out the flow of drying with a variation fan rotation speed of 450 rpm and 800 rpm. From the results of the data experiment for taking around 1.5 hours in the drying process obtained moisture content is 8% and 12% for the 450 rpm and 800 rpm condenser fan rotation each. Although the temperature of the air produced by the condenser heat is 53.6 oC and 50.6oC. The other data of relative humidity of the air (Relative Humidity) is 15%.

Abstract

The use of steam compression refrigeration systems is growing both domestically and commercially. The impact of electrical energy consumption in this sector is quite large compared to the need for electrical energy in other electronic equipment. Various efforts were made to be able to reduce the consumption of electrical energy for the cooling system. One of the efforts made by utilizing the natural potential of energy around is solar energy as a source of electrical energy in the mango freezing unit. This fruit is one of the main commodities in West Java, especially in Indramayu Regency. This study aims to determine the performance of the use of solar energy and the need for electrical energy for freezing mango fruit. In the process, freezing is carried out at temperatures below the freezing point of the ingredients/food. Good freezing usually ranges from -12 oC to -24oC. With this temperature, food can last up to 3 to 12 months. Although for freezing mango fruit, it is necessary to have additional treatment so as not to damage the physical structure and quality of the fruit. The method used is to use solar panels as a source of electrical energy in the mango freezing unit. From the tests carried out with variations in the tilt angle of the solar panels, 0°, 20°, and 40° which then from the calculation analysis it is known the comparative value of performance/efficiency and also the consumption of electrical energy generated from each angle of inclination

Abstract

Sepeda motor dengan kapasitas 150 cc sering digunakan untuk balapan di Indonesia. Tekanan tinggi dan berulang yang diterima piston selama kompresi menimbulkan beban fatigue pada connecting rod. Pada beberapa kasus, connecting rod dapat terjadi buckling (bengkok) atau fracture (patah) pada bagian kritisnya akibat tidak kuat menahan beban fatigue dari piston. Untuk mengantisipasi terjadinya buckling dan fracture maka diperlukan pemilihan material yang kuat untuk menahan beban fatigue pada connecting rod. Jenis material yang dapat digunakan untuk perancangan connecting rod adalah Baja AISI 1045. Baja AISI 1045 merupakan jenis baja yang dapat digunakan untuk pembuatan komponen mesin kendaraan seperti roda gigi, poros dan connecting rod. Untuk mengetahui besarnya deformasi dan tegangan maksimum pada connecting rod menggunakan baja AISI 1045 diperlukan simulasi melalui Finite Element Methode (FEM) dengan Solidworks. Hasil analisis simulasi menunjukan tegangan maksimum yang didapatkan sebesar 1,996x101 N/mm2 (MPa). Tegangan maksimum tersebut belum melampaui batas yield strength material Baja AISI 1045. Deformasi maksimum di dapatkan sebesar 1,489x10-2 mm sehingga perubahan bentuk yang terjadi masih sangat kecil. Besarnya Factor of Safety (FoS) didapatkan 26.5 ini menunjukan bahwa perancangan connecting rod menggunakan material Baja AISI 1045 aman untuk digunakan.
