Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari i) apakah ada peningkatan pada keterampilan pemahaman membaca siswa setalah diajarkan menggunakan teknik pre-questioning dan ii) persepsi siswa pada teknik ini. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Sasaran penelitian sebanyak 25 siswa pada kelas delapan di MTs Negeri 3 Lampung Selatan. Reading comprehension dan kuesioner digunakan untuk pengambilan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan kemampuan membaca siswa dengan tingkat signifikansi 0.05. Para siswa menunjukkan berbagai persepsi terhadap teknik ini, kebanyakan dari mereka menunjukkan persepsi yang positif. Hal ini menandakan bahwa teknik pre-questioning memberikan kesempatan kepada siswa dalam mengembangkan keterampilan pemahaman membaca dalam bahasa Inggris dengan.The aims of this study were to find out i) whether there was statistically significant improvement of the students reading comprehension achievement after the students were taught through pre-questioning technique and ii) the students perception of the technique. This research was quantitative and qualitative research. The subjects of this research were 25 students of the eighth grade in MTs Negeri 3 Lampung Selatan. Reading comprehension tests and questionnaires were used to collect the data. The result showed that there was statistically significant improvement of the students reading comprehension achievement with the significant level of 0.05. In addition, most of them perceived that pre-questioning technique is a good technique. This suggests that pre-questioning technique facilitates the students to develop English reading comprehension.Keywords: reading comprehension, pre-questioning, perception

Abstract

This research was aimed at finding out types of grammatical errors and investigating types of errors that were most and least frequently made by students based on Communicative Effect Taxonomy that were found in students’ recount text translation as well as figuring out the causes of those errors. The subjects of this research were the first-grade students of SMAN 1 Pringsewu in the academic year 2020/2021. This research adopted a descriptive qualitative method by using a translation task and questionnaire as the instruments. The results revealed that the students committed all error types in terms of Communicative Effect Taxonomy: global error and local error. Local errors were more dominating than global errors. The possible causes of those errors were problems in the target language, mother-tongue interference, lack of eagerness to learn the target language, lack of confidence, and the absence of error feedback from the teacher. This suggests that the student’s knowledge of English grammar was still low. Abstract

This research was aimed at investigating the significant difference of students’ speaking performance after being taught by using Jigsaw. This research was conducted at SMAN 3 Bandar Lampung in which the participants were 33 students of First Grade. The data were collected by using speaking test using. The data collected were analyzed through Paired Sample T-Test in SPSS version 20. The result showed that there is a significant difference of students’ speaking performance after the implementation of jigsaw, with a significance level at .001 (p .05).  This technique makes students get used to the target language being learnt and provides more language exposure that can help students to lessen their hesitance and reluctance in saying or uttering words or sentences in performing speaking in English. It is suggested for further researchers to investigate the effectiveness of jigsaw in teaching other language skills or aspects in different level of education.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian yaitu untuk mencari jenis kesalahan yang terjadi berdasarkan surface strategy taxonomy dan developmental category yang terdapat pada teks recount siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan writing task sebagai instrumen. Subyek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas dua SMP Muhammadiyah Bandar Lampung. Hasil penelitian menunjukan terdapat lima jenis kesalahan berdasarkan surface strategy taxonomy: 1) addition, 2) misordering, 3) omission, 4) misformation dan 5) blend error. Selanjutnya, terdapat tiga jenis tingkatan kesalahan yaitu 1) pre-systematic stage, 2) systematic stage dan 3) post-sytematic stage. Blend error adalah jenis kesalahan yang acapkali dibuat siswa. Tingkatan kesalahan yang acapkali terjadi yaitu, systematic stage, lalu post-systematic stage dan pre systematic stage. Disarankan untuk para guru Bahasa Inggris untuk memberi perhatian lebih terhadap kesalahan siswa, dengan memberikan siswa banyak latihan.The aim of this research was to find out types of errors which are made by the students based on surface strategy taxonomy and developmental category that are found in the students recount texts. Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui apakah ada peningkatan yang signifikan dari kemampuan berbicara siswa introvert dan ekstrovert dalam memberikan pendapat setelah penerapan teknik Think-Pair-Share dan untuk melihat sikap siswa introvert dan ekstrovert terhadap implementasi teknik Think-Pair-Share. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMA Swadhipa Natar dan menggunakan satu kelas eksperimen, yaitu XI IS 3 yang terdiri dari 17 siswa. Data diperoleh melalui pre-test dan post-test yang kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan Paired Sample T-test. Setelah penerapan teknik, hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berbicara siswa introvert dan ekstrovert dalam memberikan pendapat meningkat secara signifikan karena nilai signifikansi lebih rendah dari 0,05. Selain itu, tanggapan siswa dalam penerapan teknik TPS juga positif. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa teknik Think-Pair-Share membantu siswa introvert dan ekstrovert dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara mereka. This research was carried out to find out whether there was a significant improvement of introverted and extroverted students’ speaking ability in giving an opinion after the implementation of Think-Pair-Share technique and to investigate the attitude of introverted and extroverted students towards the implementation of the technique. This research was conducted in SMA Swadhipa Natar and employed one experimental class, which was XI IS 3 consisting of 17 students. The data were obtained through a pre-test and a post-test in which the results were analyzed by using Paired Sample T-test. After the implementation of the technique, the result indicated that both introverted and extroverted students’ speaking ability in giving opinion significantly improved because the significance value was lower than 0.05. In addition, students' attitudes to the implementation of TPS technique were also positive. In brief, it can be concluded that Think-Pair-Share technique helps the introverted and extroverted students to improve their speaking ability. Keywords: Think-Pair-Share, personality, speaking ability, giving an opinion.

Penelitian ditujukan untuk mencari jenis kesalahan dan frekuensi terjadinya kesalahan berdasarkan Surface Strategy Taxonomy dan Communicative Effect Taxonomy yang terdapat pada recount teks siswa dan juga untuk mencari jenis kesalahan yang paling banyak dibuat oleh siswa. Subyek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas dua SMP Muhammadiyah Bandar Lampung. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan writing task sebagai instrumen. Abstract

ABSTRACTThe objectives of this research were to found out the improvement of the students' writing achievement before and after the implementation of scaffolding and also to found out what aspects of writing improved the most after the implementation of scaffolding at SMA N 1 Sendang Agung. The subject of this research was students of eleventh-grade (class XI IPA 1) in the academic year 2020/2021. This research was conducted virtually through Google Classroom. This research was a quantitative research and the method was one group pretest and post-test design. The analysis of SPSS 20 shows that there was an improvement of students' writing ability after the implementation of scaffolding. Abstract

Setiap orang memiliki tingkat kemampuan menulis yang berbeda-beda. Tipe kepribadian adalah salah satu penentu perbedaan tersebut. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji apakah jenis kepribadian introvert atau extrovert memiliki kemampuan dan strategi menulis lebih baik dan menguji hubungan kemampuan dan strategi menulis. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah tiga puluh dua siswa kelas sebelas SMA Negeri 1 Terbanggi Besar. Sebelum penelitian dimulai, subjek dikelompokkan menjadi dua kategori, introvert dan extrovert, menggunakan kuesioner Eysenck Personality Inventory. Data diambil menggunakan kuesioner Writing Strategies dan tes menulis. Independent group T-Test dan Pearson’s Product Moment for Correlation digunakan untuk menganalisa hasil tes dan kuisioner.  Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa siswa introvert lebih baik dalam hal kemampuan dan strategi menulis. Juga ditemukan ada korelasi positif antara kemampuan dan strategi menulis. Everyone has a different writing competence level. A personality type is one of the factors for those differences. The current research was aimed to find out the better group in writing competence and strategies between introvert and extrovert students and the correlation between writing strategies and competence. The subjects of the research were thirty-two students of SMA Negeri 1 Terbanggi Besar. Before the research was conducted, the subject was divided into two categories, introvert and extrovert, using Eysenck Personality Inventory. The data were collected by writing strategies questionnaires and a writing test. Independent class T-Test and Pearson’s Product Moment for Correlation were used to analyze the results of the writing test and writing strategies questionnaires. The result showed that the introvert students were better in both writing strategies and competences than the extrovert students. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada i) peningkatan pada kemampuan membaca siswa dalam Teks Report setelah diajar dengan menggunakan jigsaw technique, dan ii) aspek mana yang paling meningkat setelah diajar menggunakan jigsaw technique. One group pretest and posttest design adalah desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui pretest dan posttest. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa ada peningkatan yang signifikan pada kemampuan membaca siswa setelah diajar menggunakan jigsaw technique dengan tingkat signifikan 0.05. Sehingga, dapat disarankan bahwa jigsaw technique sebagai teknik yang membantu siswa untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pada teks report.This research was aimed to find out i) whether there was improvement in students’ reading comprehension in report text after being taught by using jigsaw technique, and ii) to find out which aspect of reading improves the most after the students were taught by using jigsaw technique. A one group pretest and posttest design was used in this research. The data were obtained from a pre-test, and a post-test. The result showed that there was a statistically significant improvement of students’ reading comprehension after after they were taught through jigsaw technique with the significance level of 0.05.
