Abstract

African Leaf (Vernonia amygdalina Del.) belonging Asteraceae family. The African leaf contain flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, terpenoids, tannins, glycosides, indole alkaloids, anthraquinones and luteolin. This study aimed to measure the potencyl of flavonoid compounds of African leaf (Vernonia amygdalina Del.) origin Ternate using DPPH and FRAP. Extraction by maceration method using ethanol 96%. The compounds identification in African leaf extract contains flavonoids. The absorbance was measured at the maximum wavelength of 515 nm. DPPH scavenging showed that ethanol extract has weak antioxidant activity based on AAI 0.454 value. This potency is lower in comparasion with quersetin which has a value of AAI 6,315 and for FRAP methods, the absorbance was measured at the wavelength of 720 nm with the antioxidant capacity is 14,846 mgQE / gram.

Abstract

Seaweed (Eucheuma cottoni) is a marine biota that is often used as an additive to pharmaceutical products that function as thickener. But seaweed, which is rich in carrageenan, also contains vitamin C which has the potential as an antioxidant. The method used was to test the antioxidant activity of seaweed extract (Eucheuma cottoni) with the DPPH (1,1-Diphenyl-2-Picrylhdrazil) damping method. The test sample was in the form of seaweed ethyl acetate extract, where the standard standard of comparison of quarsetin and seaweed extract samples was made in 5 variations of concentration. The standard curve produced by quarsetin with concentrations of 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 ppm at the maximum wavelength DPPH 514,942 nm. The results obtained by the Kuarsetin standard with regression values y = 6.4765x + 7.567, the correlation value r = 0.99959 and IC50 = 6.48 (very strong antioxidant activity) while the ethyl acetate extract of seaweed with concentrations of 600, 800, 1000, 1200, 1400 ppm % inhibition was obtained with regression values y = 0.0104x + 16.708, the correlation value r = 0.9972 and IC50 = 3201.15 (very weak antioxidants). So it can be concluded that the seaweed ethyl acetate extract has the potential for antioxidant activity.

Abstract

A research have been conducted about standarisation of  diethyl ether ekstrack Oxalis corniculata L. herb from West Sulawesi of Mamuju with a purpose standarisation of  diethyl ether ekstrack Oxalis corniculata L. based on specific and non specific parameter. On the way KLT-Bioautography diethyl ether ekstrack with Rf 0.47 value to give activity to Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus mutans, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Salmonella thypi, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Vibrio sp, and Candida albicans. Based on standarisation to result diethyl ether ekstrack obtained that specific parameter to organoleptic fixing ekstrac is green chocolate, typically smelling, bitter  feel, jell konsistance, dissolve compound rate of ethanol 95% counted 31.37%, dissolve compound rate of water counted 24.00% and non specific parameter to stipulating on water rate counted 16.66%, dusty rate counted 4.16%, sour insoluble dusty rate counted 0.41%, total determination of bacterium 10x102 koloni/g and total kapang 37x101koloni/g. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the levels of arsenic (As) and lead (Pb) in frying oil usage over and over. This research was conducted at the Center for Health Laboratory Makassar. Samples obtained from merchants fried foods. To ensure the metal content of the samples prior didestruksi with HNO3P and heated for 16 hours to liberate arsenic and lead from the oil matrix, then measured using atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS) at a wavelength of 193.7 nm (Arsenic) and 283 nm (lead ). From the results obtained penilitian arsenic (As) in the three vendors that is <0.1 ppm (max 0.1 ISO ppm) and lead levels that merchants 1 (0.1503 mg / kg and 0.1940 mg / kg), traders 2 (0.3452 mg / kg and 0.4005 mg / kg), the merchant 3 (0.1111 mg / kg and 0.1788 mg / kg) respectively for the samples before and after frying (SNI max 0.1 mg / kg).
