Abstract

Rendahnya pemahaman siswa terhadap konsep perbandingan pecahan berpengaruhlangsung pada prestasi perbandingan pecahan. Pemahaman konsep harus diutamakansupaya siswa memiliki skill dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan perbandingan pecahanyang dihadapinya. Tujuan penelitian ini melalui kegiatan pembelajaran menggunakan mediaorigami dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa kelas III SD Negeri 1 Jangka dalammembandingkan pecahan. Jenis penelitian tindakan kelas dengan menggunakan modelKemmis dan Tagart. Subyek penelitian 20 siswa kelas III SDN 1 Jangka. Pengumpulandata dengan tes awal, tes akhir tindakan, observasi dan wawancara. Teknik analisis datadengan tahapan pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, verifikasi data danpenarikan kesimpulan. Keberhasilan hanya satu tindakan berupa pembelajaran sebagaiusaha mempermudah pemahaman dengan membuat kedua pecahan kedalam bentuk konkritdengan Hasil penelitian pembelajaran berlangsung dengan baik, pembelajaran denganmenggunakan kertas origami dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep perbandinganpecahan pada siswa kelas III SD Negeri 1 Jangka.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah metode Group Investigation dapatmeningkatkan kemampuan menulis mahasiswa program studi Pendidikan bahasa Inggris semester IIFakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Riau. Disamping itu, penelitian ini juga bertujuanuntuk menemukan faktor-faktor apa yang menyebabkan peningkatan tersebut.Jenis penelitian yangdigunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (Classroom Action Research). Sebagai sample penelitian iniadalah mahasiswa yang mengambil mata kuliah writingIyang berjumlah 34 orang. Hasil observasipada siklus I berkisar (46.08%) dan skor hasil test siswa berkisar (65.14). Hasil ini belum memenuhikriteria yang ditetapkan untuk ketuntasan siswa yaitu 70. Sehingga diadakan tindakan ke dua (II)dengan melanjutkan pengajaran dengan menerapkan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Group Investigation.Setelah diadakan tindakan pada siklus ke II berdasarkan observasi dan tes yang dilakukan ternyatakemampuan siswa meningkat menjadi (86.26%) dan skor hasil test menjadi 77.64.Hasil penelitian inimemperlihatkan bahwa hasil yang telah dicapai siswa melebihi kriteria yang ditentukan. Dengan demikianmetode pembelajaran Group Investigation dapat meningkatkan prestasi siswa dalam membuat kalimatyang terdapat pada mata kuliah writing.Kata kunci : Rendahnya kemampuan menulis, Group Investigation, CAR

Abstract

The plant of paddy field (Oryza sativa L.) is food plant which very important in Indonesia, because as staple food and availability must fulfilled in year-round. Several factors cause of low production and paddy field productivity including occurs over the land, paddy seed used to local varieties and the use of fertilizer not the recommended. This research aims to know about the best of spacing and fertilizer dose to growth and paddy field production (Oryza sativa L.) with SRI method. This research implemented in rice foundation of horticultural hall land, Kaharuddin Nasution street, Marpoyan desert, Pekanbaru. This research implemented during 4 months who started in january 2013 until april 2013 . The result show that spacing and fertilizer dose in each treatment able to increase a growth and paddy field production with SRI method. By observing the response of paddy after provision of treatment through parameter, it can be concluded that the best treatment is use of spacing 25 cm x 25 cm and Urea Fertilizer 400 kg/ha + Sp-36 200 kg/ha + KCl 200 kg/ha, because able to give a good response to harvest parameter and highest milled rice per plot. keywords : paddy , SRI , fertilizer dose .

Abstract

Abstract: This classroom action research was aimed to find out if the application of information gap activities technique could improve the speking skill of the second year students of SMA Tri Bhakti Pekanbaru.. The participants were 28 students. The procedures applied were: (a) giving explanation about the activity or the way of what students should do in the class, (b) reviewing vocabularies used based on the context, (c) giving the texts that consisted of information gap that had been prepared for the students, (d) asking the students to work in pair to complete the task and communicate with other students to get the complete information, (e) asking the students to describe the results of their discussion with their partners. The data was collected by using of observations, tests, and field notes. The research finding showed that the implementation of applying information gap as the teaching technique could improve students’ speaking ability both at the first cycle and second cycle. The finding also proved that in the pre-test students’ average score was only 45.05 and it improved to 73.31 in the post-test 1, and finally improved to 81.33 in the post-test 2. It was also proved that applying the procedures of information gap technique in teaching speaking could raise students’ interest and motivation to speak and share ideas with their partnersin pairs or groups since the core of information gap was a collaboration between groups or pairs. In addition, applying information gap as a teaching technique in English language teaching and learning could also improve students’ ability to speak English in terms of grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, fluency, and comprehension.Keywords: Information gap activities , Students’ speaking Ability, Spoof Text

Abstract

Abstract : This descriptive research was aimed to find out the ability of the first year students of SMAN 12 Pekanbaru in using Present Perfect Tense. The research data were collected in July 2016. The subject of this research was class X IPS 1 which consisted of 39 students. The data were collected by giving test to the students in the form of words arrangement and completion of blank spaces in passage. The results of the research showed that the first year students of SMAN 12 Pekanbaru in the use of have/has got the mean score of 67, the use of irregular verb got the mean score of 47.94 and the use of regular verb got the mean score of 53.5. Therefore, it can be concluded that the highest ability of the first year students of SMAN 12 Pekanbaru in using Present Perfect Tense was in the use of have/has.Keywords: Ability, Present Perfect Tense

Abstract

Abstract: This study was aimed at identifying the students’ response to the importance of studying listening comprehension, and finding out problems faced by second year students of English Study Program - FKIP UR in listening comprehension. This study was a descriptive research. The population of this research was the second year students of English study program of FKIP-UR. The sample of this research was selected by using total sampling technique. There were 90 students who participated in this research. The instrument of this research was a set of questionnaire. The questionnaire consisted of two sections. Section one contained questions about students’ self-rated English listening proficiency level (1 item), students’ perceptions related to their high school education (4 items), students’ response to the importance of listenig skill (5 items), and students’ ways of practicing listening skill (5 items). Section two consisted questions about listening comprehension problems grouped into seven categories: listening material (6 items), linguistics aspects (6 items), lack of concentration (5 items), psychological characteristics (5 items), listener (5 items), speaker (5 items), and physical setting (3 items). After all data were collected, the average percentage of each questionnaire item was calculated. The research findings showed that 90.22% of students responded that they realized the importance of English listening skill. It was also found that poor quality of equipments, lack of concentration, un-clear pronounciation, speed rate, unfamiliar word and topic, and psychological problem were the major problems of Listening Comprehension faced by second year students of English study program FKIP University of Riau.Key Words: Study, Listening, Comprehension, Problem

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims at finding the ability of the second year students of English Study Program FKIP Univeritas Riau in listening to conversations. The writer used Cluster Random Sampling technique to choose the sample. There are three classes for population of this research consists of 90 students there are class A, B and C, class B was chosen as the sample consisted of 30 students. The instrument of this research was in the form of multiple choices test which consisted of tryout and sample. The test was listening test. The test had four scripts and each script had five questions based on listening question comprehension components, so there were 20 questions for the script. The writer used SPSS 16.0 Program to analyze the data. Based on the results, there are two students in the excellent level (6,7%), and eleven of the students (36, 7%) were at good level, 33,3% were at mediocre level, and 23, 3% was at poor level. So, from the result of the calculation, the majority of student’s ability in listening comprehension on conversation was at good level. The data also indicated that the highest score obtained by students was 85 while the lowest score was 30, and for each classification of question, the mean score of the students’ ability for finding main idea was 65,33 finding detail was 42,00, identifying inference was 66,00 and identifying restatement was 52,00. It means that identifying detail was the students’ lowest score and finding main idea was the students’ highest score of the second year students especially students from class B of English study program FKIP-UR in listening comprehension on conversations.Key Words: Ability,Conversation, Listening Comprehension

Abstract

Abstract: This research is aimed to find out whether there is a significant effect of using cue cards on the speaking ability of the eighth grade students of SMPN 3 Tambang in descriptive text. This is a pre-experimental research conducted by using a pre-test – treatment – post-test design. This research used one group pretest-posttest design. The instrument used in this research was a speaking test in the form of a spoken descriptive text (monologue) for pretest and posttest. The population of this research was 229 of the Eighth Grade Students of SMPN 3 Tambang and the sample of this research is the students from class VIII.1 which is total number of students of class is 33 students. The data of this research were collected by giving a speaking test in the form of a spoken descriptive text (monologue) for pretest and posttest to the students in which the students chose one of the topics about descriptive text and make a description orally. The collected data were analyzed by using t-test formula in SPSS 16.0. The results of data analysis showed the mean score of pretest was 55.79, and the mean score of posttest was 67.95. Based on the data analysis, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the pre-test and the post-test because the t-test observed was higher than t-table. In other words, the alternative hypothesis of this research was accepted and null hypothesis was rejected. It also meant that teaching speaking by using cue cards as media was effective to improve students’ speaking ability in descriptive text for the eighth students of SMPN 3 Tambang especially students of class VIII.1.Key Words: Speaking Ability, Cue Cards, Descriptive Text
