Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the application of Focus, Explore, Reflect, and Apply (FERA) learning model in improving science process skills for a pre-service science teacher in primary school. The stages of learning using the FERA learning model consist of four stages, namely focus, explore, reflect, and apply. The sample of this study was the students in the Primary School Teacher Education Study Program at STKIP Sebelas April Sumedang. This research was conducted using Quasy-Experimental method with Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The effectiveness of the treatment was obtained by giving the pretest and posttest to each class one time. The research data was processed by analyzing N-gain, normality test, and average difference using the Wilcoxon and Man Withney U tests. The results showed that the experimental class and the control class had significant mean differences between the science process skills data on pretest and posttest. This shows that learning using the FERA model is more effective in improving science process skills for pre-service primary school science teachers.

Abstract

Physics learning using scientific approach-integrated the real laboratory is a process to train student’s science process skills in the classroom. However, it is little known that using scientific approach-integrated virtual simulation has huge potential in training student’s science process skills. This study carried out was to acquire the description of enhancing student’s science process skills in physics learning that its learning activities refer to the syntax of scientific learning activities. The activities of learning were conducted with integrating virtual simulations during two times face to face in the classroom activities. There were 31 students as participants in one public senior high school in Bima, Indonesia. The pre-experiment method with one group pretest-posttest design is shown to illustrate the intervention of training of science process skills involved in the classroom. The data sources for this study were the result of the student’s score about science process skills measured by essay test combined rubrics.Furthermore, the science process skills measured from students encompassed skills of observing, communicating, clarifying, measuring, predicting, and interpreting. The results of the study depicted that there was significant increase of student’s science process skills (<g>=0.34; intermediate level) and significant difference between pretest score and posttest score (z=-4.861; p=0.0001).

Abstract

Gender issues in Indonesia are pivotal issues in science/physics textbooks and any aspects of life. As learning resources commonly utilized in the science classroom, physics textbooks should present gender neutrality to urge women's contribution to science. They are frequently considered less performance than those men in science. However, in the Indonesian context, few studies of gender representation in the physics textbook are conducted. Therefore, this present study investigates gender stereotypes in Indonesian physics textbooks based on social actor criteria. A Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) is a qualitative research method employed to analyze gender neutrality discourse. The use of visual artifacts that refer to the representation of both men and women in the textbooks were utilized to emerge the roles of men and women in three frameworks: laboratory activities, physics application in daily life, and roles of men and women in the family. This present study's findings revealed that representation both men and women were almost to have the same representations based on three of these frameworks. Finally, this present study's implication is to underpin the woman representation to contribute to science activities.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis miskonsepsi konsep gaya pada calon guru fisika. Sebanyak 24 calon guru fisika diberikan tes standar mengenai konsep gaya yaitu force concept inventory (FCI). Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini merupakan metode penelitian deskriptif. Hasil data yang diperoleh kemudian di analisis menggunakan Certainty of Respond Index (CRI), dimana analisis terhadap data dibedakan kedalam tiga kategori yaitu tahu konsep, tidak tahu konsep, dan miskonsepsi. Hasil analisis data diperoleh bahwa rataan miskonsepsi 53%, tidak tahu konsep 24%, dan tahu konsep 23%. Analisis lebih lanjut terhadap beberapa butir soal diperoleh beberapa miskonspesi dengan tingkat miskonsepsi lebih dari 40%, yaitu: 1). kecepatan yang besar menimbulkan percepatan yang besar pula, 2). penjumlahan kecepatan dijumlahkan sama seperti penjumlahan biasa tanpa melibatkan arah, 3). kelajuan benda meningkat secara kontinu setelah menerima gaya sesaat, 4). kelajuan benda meningkat kemudian setelahnya menurun pada sistem yang dikenai gaya tetap, 5). gaya gravitasi berkurang dan meningkat pada sistem gerak yang dilempar dan jatuh kembali, 6).  Resultan dua gaya yang membentuk sudut satu sama lain akan mempunyai resultan dengan arah berada tepat ditengah kedua gaya asal.

Abstract

This research is aimed to know understanding graph of kinematic student with using Criteria Respon Index (CRI). The kind of research is descriptive research that described and interpretated object as the real condition. Understanding of student about graph of kinematic is showed in knowing concept, misconception, and unknowing concept that is measured by multiple choice objective test using  Test of Understanding Graph of Kinematics (Tugk). The  result of this research shows that understanding graph of kinematic student is low. It is known by looking test score that is gotten by student in every unit analysis test.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to provide skills for Natural Sciences teachers in Garut district to create augmented reality based learning media. Through the use of good and appropriate media, the delivery of material can be better absorbed by students. So that later students are expected to be easier to understand the concepts. The service activities consist of two stages, the first stage is socialization and the second stage is training. The socialization and training were attended by science MGMP teachers in Garut district. The training material is the use of augmented reality as an alternative learning media in science learning. The results showed that community service went well and smoothly. Based on the overall questionnaire results the teachers responded positively related to the implementation of this training. The teacher seemed very enthusiastic in listening to the explanation and practicing what the speaker said. In addition, the teachers stated that through the training, they obtained many benefits related to the addition of knowledge about alternative learning media that could be applied in science learning, even they felt an increase in creativity in making learning media. The obstacles that arise at this training stage are the problems of time that are felt lacking for training, therefore they suggest that ongoing training be held related to the making of learning media using augmented reality or other media.

Abstract

Community service is one of the tri dharmas of higher education that must be routinely carried out by a lecturer. One form of community service implementation is to provide services in the health sector through free medical examinations and direct drug consultations to the community. The health check activity this time is to check people's blood pressure. Blood pressure check was chosen because it is a degenerative disease that many suffer. High blood pressure (hypertension) if left untreated can lead to fatal complications such as stroke (51%) and coronary heart disease (45%). This community service aims to provide free health check services to assist the community in health control. This activity is a form of increasing public awareness of the importance of health. This service is descriptive which aims to describe the blood pressure profile of the community. The method used begins with the lecture method to give participants an understanding of what blood pressure is, then checks blood pressure and continues with a consultation. The research was conducted in Susussian Village, Salawu District, Tasikmalaya Regency with a sample size of 66 people. The results of blood pressure measurement showed normal blood pressure in 44 people (66.7%), hypotension 1 person (1.51%), hypertension 21 people (31.8%). Meanwhile, if viewed from gender, hypertension in men (36%) was higher than women (29.2%). From these results it can be seen that some people have a history of hypertension.

Abstract

Through good and proper learning, the delivery of material can be better absorbed by students. So that later students are expected to be easier to understand the concepts. The dedication activity consisted of two stages, the first stage of the socialization and the second phase of training. Socialization and training were followed by MA Physics teachers in Cibatu sub-district. The training material is training on STEM Education, the selection of STEM-based learning models, and assistance in making STEM-based media. The results showed that community service went well and smoothly. Based on the results of the questionnaire as a whole the teachers responded positively related to the implementation of this training. The teacher seemed very enthusiastic in listening to the explanation and practicing what the resource person said. In addition, the teachers stated that through the training, they gained a lot of benefits related to the addition of knowledge about learning alternatives that could be applied in Physics learning, even they felt an increase in creativity in making STEM-based learning and learning media. The obstacles that arise at this stage of the training are the problems of time that are felt to be lacking for training, therefore they give advice to hold ongoing training related to STEM learning

Abstract

Abstract— Pada saat ini kita juga sedang memasuki era informasi. Teknologi dan komunikasi (TIK) yang terus berkembang dan cenderung akan terus mempengaruhi segenap kehidupan manusia. Perkembangan TIK ini memungkinkan dihasilkannnya berbagai multimedia dalam pembelajaran yang dapat memudahkan dan membangkitkan motivasi belajar siswa dalam mempelajari konsep Fisika. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen (eksperimen semu). Desain eksperimen yang digunakan adalah The randomized Pretest-Posttest control group design. hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa penggunaan model pembelajaran berbasis multimedia interaktif dapat lebih meningkatkan Hasil belajar siswa dibandingkan pembelajaran dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Sedangkan data keterampilan berfikir kritis menunjukan rata-rata gain yang dinormalisasi untuk kelas eksperimen ialah 0,66 dan nilai rata-rata gain yang dinormalisasi untuk kelas kontrol ialah 0,44 dengan kategori sedang.  Perbandingan nilai ini secara langsung menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan model pembelajaran berbasis multimedia interaktif dapat lebih efektif meningkatkan keterampilan kritis siswa dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Keywords— Hasil Belajar, Keterampilan berfikir kritis, multimedia interaktif
