Abstract: This research aims to explain the processions and mantras contained in the jalur tradition. Pacu jalur not only involve physical elements, but also mystical things. The handler is the person who is trusted in the procession of jalur tradition. The role of the handler is clearly seen from the search for wood to the point when the track is finished. Therefore, it is necessary to study the ethnographic approach and function of the mantra found in the jalur tradition. This study uses qualitative methods. This method is considered appropriate because the data required are all words or explanations. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation. Information relating to this study was obtained from key informants, namely: jalur handler. The results of the study found a procession of pathway traditions that used crunches and spells. The persistence of things that are mystical in the jalur tradition adition because people believe that it has the power to be able to protect and influence in winning the race. Abstract: This study titled the form and meaning of the word in syair Abdul Muluk by Raja Ali Haji. The reason why researchers chose the form and meaning of the word as a research study because many words are difficult to understand for researchers as lay people. Apart from that, not everyone can understand the form and meaning of the word or language presented in the poem. Moreover, today the rapid development of technology and communication is such that old literary works are abandoned and can be considered almost extinct. This research is a descriptive qualitative research that describes and describes the results of research that have found various forms of words, namely, primitives, connected forms, repeating forms, lexem alloys, and compound forms. The words identified by the author number 1514 words. The results of the identification of 1514 words are the basic forms with 767 words. Word form, which also appears a lot, is the form of the number of 663 words, then the repetition form is 65 words, lexem alloys are 15 words and the compound form is 4 words. The meanings examined in this study are lexical meanings, grammatical meanings, text meanings, and idiomic meanings.Key Words: form, meaning, word, poem

Abstrak: This study discussed the endofora reference in short stories collections of Karpet Merah Wakil Presiden of Abdul Kadifr Ibrahim work. In general, the problem studied in this study is about the type of endofora reference based on the direction and type of object in short stories collections of Karpet Merah Wakil Presiden of Abdul Kadir Ibrahim work. The method used in this study was descriptive method with qualitative approach, which is the data in the form of a series of text that get realization of endofora reference. The techniques used in this study were documentation and record techniques. The data source of this study was obtained directly from the book short stories collections of Karpet Merah Wakil Presiden of Abdul Kadir Ibrahim works. The result of this study indicate there are 417 endofora references data. The overall data consists of 284 personal reference data of anaphora category, 67 personal reference data of kataphora category, 5 demonstrative reference data of anaphora category, 7 demonstrative reference data of the kataphora category, 4 comparative reference data of anaphora category, and 4 comparative reference data of kataphora category.Keyword : endofora reference, type of endofora reference, short stories collections

Abstract: The background of this study was taken by Nafiah Al-Ma'Rab's Five Meter Earth Story poetry on a collection of poems and short stories on History of Smoke by Hening Wicara, Ahmad Ijazi, Bambang Kariyawan Ys, Nafiah Al-Ma’Rab et al. The problem taken is what is the moral message contained in Nafiah Al-Ma’Rab's Five Meter Earth Story poem? This study aims to describe the moral message found in Nafiah Al-Ma’Rab's Five Meter Earth Story poem. The benefits of this study are divided into three types, namely; theoretical, practical and didactic. The method in this study used is qualitative research that describes descriptive data. The data collection technique used is the technique of studying in a book collection of poems and short stories on History of Smoke, and taken from one of the poems entitled Nafiah Al-Ma’Rab's Bumi Lima Meter Story. The data source in this study was taken from a book collection of poems and short stories on History of Smoke. The overall data that the authors found in this study were 23 data, the data were classified into three categories namely; (1) the author's moral message to himself, (2) the author's moral message to other humans, and (3) the author's moral message to his God. The data is; (1) the author's moral message to himself as much as 6 data, (2) the author's moral message to other humans as much as 12 data, and (3) the author's moral message to God as much as 5 data.Key words: Moral message, collection of poems and short stories on Smoke History.

Abstract: This study examines the ability to write a letter of service to students of class VIII SMP Telekomunikasi Pekanbaru. The purpose of this study is to describe how high the ability to write a letter of service to students of class VIII Junior High School Telecommunications Pekanbaru, and describe the difference of ability to write a letter of service to students of class VIII Junior High School Telecommunications Pekanbaru in each parallel class between the sample groups. This study was conducted on 66 populations with a sample of 57. The results after the test using the Wilxocon test, the ability to write an official letter equal to the value of comparison. The comparative score determined in this study is 65. The ability to write a student letter is equal to the value of comparison, this means that the ability to write a letter of service class VIII students Junior High School Telecommunications Pekanbaru classified low, in other words the hypothesis accepted. Then, tested by using Kruskall Wallis test, to know the difference in the ability to write a letter of service class VIII Junior High School Telecommunications Pekanbaru between sample groups. There were no significant differences in the ability to write letters among the sample groups.Keywords: Ability, Writing, Letter of Service, Student

Abstract: This research is motivated with the aim to discuss the types of repetition, the use of repetition, and the meaning of repetition contained in the book collection of short stories Riau Pos Pipa Air Mata. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with data collection techniques in the form of documentation and recording techniques. Data analysis techniques in the form of identifying research data contained in a book collection of short stories Riau Pos Pipa Air Mata, grouping data that has been found according to the type of repetition This research is motivated with the aim to discuss the types of repetition, the use of repetition, and the meaning of repetition contained in the collection of short stories in the post Pipa Air Mata, classifying repetition data according to their use in the collection of Riau Post short stories Pipa Air Mata, grouping data repetition according to its meaning in a collection of short stories Riau Pos Pipa Air Mata. The results found that 115 data types of repetition, the first is epithetical repetition types there are 26 data, tautotes repetition there are 20 data, anaphoric repetitions have 29 data, epistrofa repetitions have 17 data, mesodiplosis repetitions have 16 data, and the last is repetition there are 20 data, anaphoric reps have 29 data, epistrofa repetition has 17 data, mesodiplosis repetition has 16 data, and the last is repetition epanalepsis there are 7 data. Next is the use of repetition of this study to describe the use in accordance with the use of the repetition itself. Furthermore, the meaning of repetition in this study is interpreted according to the meaning of the data that has been obtained. Key Words: Repetition, Types, Uses, Meaning Of Repetition

Abstract: This study is entitled Study of Literary Genres in the Process of the Toba Batak Customary Marriage Ceremony. In general the problem examined in this study is how the process of the Batak Toba traditional wedding ceremony and literary genre that emerged during the process. This study aims to describe the process and genre of literature that emerged in the Batak Toba traditional ceremony. This research is very useful both theoretically and practically. The operational definition in this study of the literary genre referred to in this study is the type or form of literature in the Batak Toba traditional wedding ceremony in the form of umpasa and umpama or rhymes spoken by certain people, proverbs during the marriage ceremony process from the introduction of young people to the ulaon sadari or wedding reception as well as legends and myths. In the Batak Toba tradition the most important things are umpasa and umpama when at any traditional talk event, especially when in gatherings talk about which leads to the good. This type of research is qualitative research. The data of this research are all literary processes and genres that appear in the ceremony of Batak Toba traditional wedding. The source of this research data was obtained directly from the field or the place of the activity. Data obtained using documentation and interview techniques. From the data obtained in the process of Batak Toba traditional marriage, it was found that the process of Batak Toba traditional marriage which amounted to eleven processes. While the literary genre there are four genres that appear namely umpasa or rhyme, for example or proverbs, legends and myths. Abstract: This study examines the ability to write the news text of the students of grade VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Pekanbaru. The purpose of this study is to describe how high the level of writing skills of news text of students of class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 1 and describe the differences in the ability to write explanatory text between groups or between classes. This study has a population of 198 and a sample of 133. The results when tested using the Wilcoxon Test is the ability to write persuasion text equal to the value of comparison. The comparative value applied in this study was 84. The students 'writing ability was the same as the comparison score, which means that the ability to write high school students' news text is high. In other words the hypothesis is accepted. Then tested by using Kruskall Wallis. The result is that there is no difference in the ability of writing explanatory text of class VIII students between classes. Based on the results of research writers can be seen that the ability to write students are high because students have complete facilities and teachers are very creative in teaching and learning process. Abstract: This article will describe the form and function of expressive speech acts found in the novel Sunset with Rosie by Tereliye. Speech acts belong to the branch of linguistics, namely pragmatics. Pragmatics is a branch of linguistics that examines and examines the structure of language, which is determined by the context and situation that form the basis of language usage and meaning study in each speaker. Voice Action is an action that uses the language that is used to convey the purpose of the speaker to the partner. Speech actions include speakers, listeners, readers, writers and discussed things. Speech acts are divided into locus, illocutionary and perlocution speech acts. Expressive speech acts are part of illocutionary speech acts. Expressive speech acts are speech acts that are spoken by speakers and intended as an evaluation of the things mentioned in the speech. The object selected in this study was the novel Sunset with Rosie by Tereliye. The novel was published in November 2011 with 426 pages. Abstract: This study has the title Pantun Physical Structure in the 1001 Pantun Book for Children. The background to this research is that the researchers wanted to see the quality of the physical structure of the pantun in book 1001 Pantun for Children? The aim of this study was to determine the quality of the physical structure of the pantun in book 1001 Pantun for Children. This research is a research into mixing methods using two research methods. Quantitative is used to analyze data and qualitatively used to draw conclusions. On the basis of the research, the rhyme gets an average score of 25, no sampiran gets the maximum score of 40. The content of the pantoen as a whole, totaling 286 pantun, gets a score of 25. The following is the rhymes. A total of 271 rhymes gets a score of 20, 12 rhymes get a score of 25, and only 3 rhymes get a maximum score of 30.Key Words: Structure, physical, rhyme
