Abstract

This research aimed to evaluate the nutrient digestibility and the growth performance of broilers fed a different type of diet (TD) and feed additives (FA). A total of 264 day-old chicks (male, Lohmann) were randomly distributed into 24 pens (11 birds/pen). The experiment was designed by using a 2 x 4 factorial completely randomized design with the main factors TD and FA. The result shows that TD x FA interaction was significant (p<0.05-0.001) for feed intake (FI) and body weigt gain (BWG) of starter broilers. The TD, FA, and TD x FA affected (p<0.01-0.001) growth performance (GP) of growing broilers. TD and TD x FA interaction affected liver weight and the length of proventriculus and gizzard (p<0.05 to 0.001). Except for starch, the TD did not affect (p>0.05) nutrient digestibility (ND) and energy values (EV). Except for crude protein, FA did not affect (p>0.05) on ND and EV. The TD x FA interaction did not affect ND and EV. TD affected (p<0.05–0.001) on FI and BWG)of starter broilers. Except for day 7, FA influenced (p<0.01–0.001) FI and BWG of starter broilers. In conclusion, 1) The addition of Synbiotics and Allzyme SSF-E on Rice bran-sago diet (RSD) improved the GP of birds; and 2) The complex and multi enzymes work well in the rice bran-sago diet  3) RSD produced better growth performance of broiler starter.

Abstract

Rusa timor merupakan hewan yang didomestikasi di Indonesia maupun di negara lain sehingga perlu  dikembangkan  dan  dibudidayakan  pada  konservasi  sehingga  jumlah  rusa  yang  ada  di pulau   timor   dapat   ditingkatkan.    Tujuan   penelitian   ini   adalah   untuk   mengetahui   dan mengidentifikasi   bakteri  yang  ada  pada  darah  rusa  timor  (Cervus  timorensis).  Sejumlah  4 sampel darah rusa timor (Cervus timorensis) yang diperoleh dari tempat penangkaran rusa timor di Oil Sonbai, Kota Kupang. Darah dikultur pada media Plat Agar Darah (PAD) secara aerobdan anaerob diinkubasi pada suhu 37oC selama 24-48 jam. Dilanjutkan penggelompokan koloniberdasarkan  pengecatan  Gram.  Gram  positif  bentuk  basil  dilanjutkan  pengecatan  spora,  uji katalase,  uji  oksidase,  uji  motilitas,  uji  indol,  dan  uji  Voges  Proskauer  (VP).  Gram  positif bentuk kokus dilanjutkan uji katalase dan oksidase.  Hasil penelitian  menunjukkan  identifikasi Streptococcus spp., dan Clostridium spp.Kata kunci: streptocuccus spp., clostridium spp., rusa timor.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the total number of leukocytes and differential leukocytes of native chicken blood exposed to Ascaridia galli naturally. Sampling of free-range chicken blood was carried out in Amarasi Subdistrict of Kupang Regency while blood tests were carried out at the Veterinary UPT Laboratory of the Animal Husbandry Department of NTT Province. The variables observed were blood figures, especially the total number of leukocytes, lymphocytes, monocytes, neutrophils, basophils, and eucinophils. The blood picture data obtained will be adjusted to the normal blood picture then all data obtained will be processed descriptively. From examination of stool samples found Ascaridia galli worm eggs for all stool samples and blood tests showed that the total number of leukocytes was 112.5 X 10 ^ 3 / µL, lymphocytes 86 X 10 ^ 3 / µL, monocytes 4.2 X 10 ^ 3 / µL, neutrophils 5.2 X 10 ^ 3 / µL, basophils 0, and eusinofil 4.6 X 10 ^ 3 / µL. Keywords: Ascaridia galli, Ayam Kampung, Total Blood leukocytes, Differential leukocytes

Abstract

The aim of this research is detecting Brucella abortus reactor in Rumah Potong Hewan (RPH) Oeba, Kupang City  has been carried out using RBT serological test with RBT kits produced by Pusvetma. 105 serum samples were collected randomly from cattle in RPH Oeba in 2018, with details of 7samples from bulls and 98 samples from female cattle, and have been used for this study. All samples were collected with additional data of gender. The results showed that 60 samples were positive and 45 gave negative results.  Serum samples that are positive for RBT mostly come from female cattles which are 56 and only 4 bulls gave positive results. The average prevalence is 57%, the majority of the RBT test results from positive samples on the RBT test is +1 scoring (the lowest score in the RBT test).

Abstract

Kelompok tani Kuinbes berada di Desa Oeteta wilayah Kecamatan Sulamu dengan jarak lokasi dari pusat pemerintahan Kabupaten Kupang kurang yang memelihara ternak Sapi Bali dengan sistem semi intensif sehingga ternak tidak mendapat pakan sesuai dengan kebutuhan. Induk sapi Bali sangat membutuhkan pakan dengan jumlah dan mutu yang berkualitas. Jerami padi belum dimanfaatkan secara baik oleh peternak dan hanya dibakar setelah panen dan pemberian putak pada ternak sapi dalam bentuk potongan-potongan. Pengabdian ini dilaksanakan selama 8 bulan dengan metode yang digunakan adalah penyuluhan, demplot (kandang, Pengawetan pakan, Pemberian pakan putak) dan bantuan mesin pengiling putak. Peningkatan pengetahuan peternakan tentang pemeliharaan ternak sapi Bali betina dengan sistem pemelihraan semi intensif, pemanfaatan jerami padi sebagai pakan ternak dan pengawetan pakan dengan cara amoniasi dan haylase dan pemberian pakan tambahan berupa putak. Peningkatan pendapatan kelompok tani dengan produksi tepung putak.Kata Kunci: Sapi Bali Induk, Jerami padi, Amoniasi, Haylase, Putak.

Abstract

Pemanfaatan limbah ternak babi menjadi pupuk bokashi bagi masyarakat membuat mereka menjadi lebih terampil dan mampu memanfaatkan limbah yang ada disekitar mereka untuk menjadi sumber pendapatan. Penerapan teknologi dilakukan melalui pelatihan dan penyuluhan pembuatan pupuk bokashi. Penyuluhan dan pelatihan mengenai pemanfaatan limbah ternak menjadi pupuk organik bokashi dilakukan di lokasi. Mitra menyediakan lahan, tenaga serta bahan-bahan yang diperlukan yang ada disekitar mereka dalam pembuatan pupuk bokashi. Abstract

Staphylococcus is Gram-positive bacterium that could lead to an acute and chronic disease in poultry. This research was purposed to evaluate the antibiotics susceptibility of these Staphylococcus spp. against commonly used antibiotics in the field. This study uses isolates of Staphylococcus spp. of laying hens which showed a decrease in egg production. To test the sensitivity, antibiotics of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid, tetracycline, gentamycin, colistin sulfate, and enrofloxacin were applied. Results found the sensitivity of Staphylococcus spp. to combination of amoxicillin-clavulanic acid 100%, gentamycin and enrofloxacin 70%.

Abstract

Pasteurella multocida is an important species that are suspected to cause bronchopneumonia in pigs. Prevalence of pneumonia pasteurellosis in slaughter house between 30-80%. The purpose of this study were determined the microorganisms that caused respiratory disorders (cough) or pneumonia in pigs in Yogyakarta area with morphological and biochemical tests. A number of 6 pigs were obtained from some pig farming in Yogyakarta with clinical symptoms of pneumonia were necropted, isolated and identified the cause of pneumonia, followed by histopathological examination of the isolates.The results showed that P. multocida is one of the main causes of bronchopneumonia in pigs in Yogyakarta with clinical symptoms of anorexia, dipsnoea, cough with serous to mucopurulent exudation. Pulmo showed grayish hepatization on dorsocranial, multifocal hemorrhagic and congestion. Histopathological changes found fibrinous bronchopneumonia and catharrhal bronchopneumonia.

Abstract

Clostridium, a bacteria gram-positive and motile, has a rod-shaped that can produce spora. It is a bacteria pathogen if it is contained one or more type of toxins. Blood samples were taken from healthy breastfeeding Timoranses deer (Cervus timorenses) in Forestry Conversation Cage in Oil Sonbay, Kupang. The bloods were cultured in anaerob blood agar plate or Potato Agar Dextrose then incubated at 370 C temperature for 24-28 hours. The next tests were spora staining, catalase, oksidase, motil, Voges Proskauer (VP) and Indol test. The results of all tests showed that the bacteria in the blood samples were Clostridium spp.

Abstract

Timorensis deer, an endangered species, is one of the native wildlifes in Nusa Tenggara Timur Province. Therefore, it is important to protect the Timorensis deer population in this province. The purpose of this study is to determine haematology value of the Timor deer (Cervus timorensis). Blood samples were taken from four captive deers, owned by Kupang Forestry Research Institute, in Sonbai which are clinically health based on the general physical examination namely temperature and heart frequence. Hematological examination includes the number of blood cells, hemoglobin concentration, hematocrit value, erythrocyte indices, and the calculation of leukocytes. Results of this study showed that there were significant increasing the number of leukocytesis 8.42x103/μl and erythrocytes index is 8.24x106/μl.
