Abstract

Abstract

One of the scientific approach activities is asking questions but not every student is actively asking questions which can trigger curiosity about learning. This study aims to measure the making questions ability of fifth-grade elementary school students in the city of Bandar Lampung on the subject matter of respiratory organs and functions in animals and humans. This descriptive survey research used a multistage cluster sampling area combined with the stratification. The design of this research is cross-sectional. The type of data in this study is quantitative data obtained by measuring the ability of students in making questions and the results will be interpreted in the form of a percentage which is then categorized based on the category of students' ability in making questions. The making questions ability of students in this study can be measured according to the indicators of assessing the quality of the questions. The results of the calculation of the data that have been obtained show that the ability of grade V elementary school students in making questions is in high category with a final percentage of 70.97%. The results of quality of student questions based on 4 indicators obtained the percentage from the highest to the lowest, which is 24.6% on the focus indicator, 17.1% on the grammar indicator, 15.6% on the relevance indicator, and 13.6% on the cognitive level indicator. The cognitive level is influenced by age and level of education, grammar is influenced by the limited vocabulary factor that is owned. It can be concluded that the difficult to arrange questions with good and correct vocabulary relevance with influenced of students' inability to think more critically and deeply so it is difficult for them to make questions that are relevant to everyday life or other fields of science and the focus is influenced by interesting learning media and interactive learning methods

Abstract

The quality of the question can describe the development of a person's thinking level. The questioning activity is also an indication that a student is actively involved in the learning process. The purpose of this study was to describe the quality profile of the students' questions from a natural science family in terms of their learning experience. This study uses a descriptive method because it aims to describe the profile of research subjects. The research instrument was a learning experience questionnaire and a question matrix. Learning experience questionnaires are used to reveal a picture of student learning experiences during lectures. Meanwhile, the question matrix is used to measure the level of thinking on each question made by students. The population of this study were all students in the Mathematics and Natural Sciences Education Department who had attended Basic Biology courses. Data analysis using simple regression shows that student learning experience does not significantly influence the quality of student questions. Each study program has a t score of 0.120 (chemistry education); 1,341 (Physics education); and 0.578 (Biology education). The entire t score is less than the t table. This condition is strongly suspected because the core activity phase of the lecture process did not go well. Based on the data analysis, it was found that the core activity phase had the lowest score of 67.33 which was significant.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced the education process to be conducted online to avoid face-to-face education patterns. During the pandemic, however, many schools are still failing and experiencing the ineffectiveness of online learning systems. The urgency is that if this condition is not addressed and continues, students may experience a loss of learning, resulting in a lack of enthusiasm to learn at school and, as a result, a decline in cognitive testing results. During the pandemic, learning at the SD Karya Penggawa area, Pesisir Barat Lampung, was less effective, resulting in low student cognitive assessment outcomes. The goal of this study was to assess the need for LKPD development using HOTS-based LKPD Jumping Tasks (High Order Thinking Skills). The method used was a qualitative descriptive research method by conducting a needs analysis. Research data were obtained from interviews and questionnaires. Needs analysis questionnaires were given to teachers and grade 5 students in the Elementary Schools of the Karya Penggawa area. The results of the study revealed that the development of HOTS-based LKPDs needed to be carried out in SD Karya Penggawa areas because students wanted more attractive LKPDs to prevent loss of learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. Besides, it was also revealed that teachers wanted training on the implementation of LKPD jumping tasks to improve the quality of learning.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop and describe interactive video media based on discovery learning models in the food digestive system of class XI to improve student learning outcomes that were valid, practical, and effective. The type of research used in this study is the ADDIE development model, namely (1) Analysis, (2) Design, (3) Development, (4) Implementation, (5) Evaluation. The limited trial phase was carried out in class XII MIPA 4 and the field trial phase was carried out in class XI MIPA 1 SMA Negeri 5 Bandar Lampung. The results showed that the product of developing interactive video media based on the discovery learning model in the food digestive system of class XI got an average score of 90% (very valid), media experts 91% (very valid). For the practicality questionnaire, the average score for the limited test students' responses got an average score of 93.25% (very practical) and the field test student response questionnaires got an average score of 92.40% (very practical). At the field trial stage, the learning outcomes got an average score of 0.71% (very effective). It can be concluded that the development of interactive video media based on the discovery learning model on the food digestive system for class XI to improve student learning outcomes is feasible to use in learning.

Abstract

This study aims to create a student worksheet based on the Problem-based Learning (PBL) model in science learning, test its feasibility, and identify student and teacher responses to the implementation of the student worksheet. The instruments were validation sheets and student and teacher response questionnaires. The research data were descriptively and qualitatively analyzed based on the criteria score. Material expert validation obtained an average of 0.8409 with "high" criteria. An average of 0.8036 with "high" criteria was obtained for language expert validation. Media expert validation obtained an average of 0.7522 with "moderately high" criteria. According to the findings of the field trial, the average response of teachers was 86% with the criteria "excellent," and the average response of students was 85% with the criteria "excellent and highly suitable." Furthermore, the n-gain value obtained was 0.7 in the "moderate" category. As a result, the developed student worksheet can be used to improve students' critical thinking skills. Thus, teachers are advised to create student worksheets based on other materials.
