Abstract

The religious moderation campaign for millennials faces many challenges. The facts on the ground show that the phenomenon of radicalism is deeply rooted. The moderation program offered by the government has lost its reputation with the radicalism movement which is packaged attractively and in accordance with current trends. Through a qualitative approach and a radical paradigm of humanism, this study then tries to explore the root cause of the strengthening of radicalism and how complexities are faced by the discourse of religious moderation. This study then found several conclusions including, First, the moderation movement has been less fast and less attractive to millennials compared to the opposite movement. Second, the geneological roots of moderation and radicalism are not finished and are related to the relationship between religion and the post-independence state. Third, the influence of transnational radicalism. Fourth, socio-political-economic factors, including poverty, state violence, legal injustice, political instability, racial issues, militarism and so on. The only opportunity that the discourse of religious moderation has is the pre-independence cultural roots, through strengthening cultural values, Islamic treasures (intellectual Islam) and the welfare economic movement. If such opportunities are not utilized, the movement and discourse of religious moderation will run aground in the middle of the road.

Abstract

AbstractThis paper discusses on the women’s role in madrasah education in Aceh, as to when Acehnese women had their opportunity to study in madrasah, and why the parents sent them to madrasah education. This study will show that female Acehnese have been involved in madrasah education since the early 20th century, i.e. since the outset of this type of education in the region. The Acehnese women’s role in madrasah education shows that women have had access to education since long ago. Their participation in the premise of Islamic education is insperable from the Islamic values deeply rooted in the people of Aceh. Additionally, this study also found that the Acehnese women were allowed to continue their studies not only within but also outside the Aceh region. Even during the hard times of conflicts, many women have their chance to continue their education outside the region, such as Medan, Padang, Jakarta, Yogyakarta and other major cities. This shows that the Acehnese practice of migration belongs not only to men but also common to women. AbstrakTulisan ini membahas tentang bagaimana partisipasi perempuan Aceh dalam pendidikan madrasah, sejak kapan perempuan Aceh memperoleh kesempatan untuk belajar dalam pendidikan madrasah, dan mengapa orang tua di Aceh menyekolahkan anak perempuannya dalam pendidikan madrasah. Kajian ini menunjukkan bahwa perempuan Aceh telah terlibat dalam dunia pendidikan madrasah sejak awal abad ke-20, yaitu sejak pendidikan madrasah ini muolai didirikan di Aceh. Keterlibatan perempuan Aceh dalam dunia pendidikan madrasah menunjukkan bahwa perempuan telah memperoleh kesempatan untuk mendapatkan pendidikan sejak dulu. Partisipasi perempuan Aceh dalam dunia pendidikan Islam tidak dapat dilepaskan dari nilai-nilai keislaman yang mengakar kuat dalam masyarakat Aceh. Selain itu kajian ini juga menemukan bahwa perempuan Aceh tidak hanya diperbolehkan untuk melanjutkan pendidikannya di sekitar daerah Aceh tetapi juga sampai di luar daerah. Bahkan ketika konflik melanda Aceh, banyak perempuan yang melanjutkan pendidikannya ke luar daerah Aceh, seperti Medan, Padamg, Jakarta, Yogyakarta dan kota-kota besar lainnya. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa tradisi merantau dalam masyarakat Aceh tidak hanya milik kaum laki-laki tetapi tradisi ini juga lazim dilakukan oleh kaum perempuan.

Abstract

This article discusses about how madrasahs respond the social changes occurred in Aceh society. Why do, nowadays, Acehnese parents are more interested to send their children to madrassahs? This research therefore aims to reveal any endeavors made by madrasah as responses toward changes in Aceh society and to find out any driving factors that may influence Aceh society to send their children to madrasahs. This study indicates that any changes occurred during the early emergence of madrasahs are mainly caused by sociopolitical and religious circumstances. Furthermore, the dynamic of post-independence madrasahs is mainly affected by government’s policy. Changes occurred in madrasahs during next periods began to indicate an increasing quality of its education service as the result of regional autonomy and the implementation of Islamic sharia. As the implication,  the autonomy of education is now conducting quality-oriented education, relevant with current global situation and corresponds with local needs. To attain this goals, government implement school/madrasahs-based management concept (MBS). This MBS concept gave opportunity for each madrasahs to improve and initiate featured programs that corresponds with local needs. This is one of many factors that increase society’s interest toward madrasahs, aside from Islamic education available in madrasahs.   Keywords: madrasah, social changes, Aceh

Abstract

This research is examining the model of Kelompok Swadaya Masyarakat (Community Self Reliance Groups) in empowering and increasing the socio-economic situation of women, based on some case study in Acehnese community. Microfinance program has been frequently associated with women as usually the program targets women as their beneficiaries, particularly the microfinance group model. There have been some optimistic and pessimistic perspectives on how microfinance could improve the economic situation of women. Some argued that microfinance would increase the income generating of women, while others doubted as it is very little and micro, this would not help much in improving the economic situation of women. This research is not focusing on examining the economic impact of the program, but instead the non-economic impact of the program in empowering women’s personal and social capital by looking at group based microfinance program. The research tried to answer the questions of how the microfinance program could affect the non-economic situation of women, and what kind of personal and social capabilities affected by the program. Through several interviews, questionnaires and FGDs (focused group discussion) in some selected regions through purposive sampling, the study showed that this model has relatively affected the women’s personal and social capabilities. Most of the group members mentioned the increase of their self confidence and strong social networking that they benefited after joining the program. In some cases, the program has affected the ‘political’ skill in conveying their voice through their leadership experiences in the group. Moreover, putting the context of post conflict and tsunami disaster of Aceh, the program has been a ‘place’ for them to get relief from the psychological/traumatic and social impacts of the disasters, and also contribute to conflict resolution in a sophisticated way. Abstract

Artikel ini mengkaji bagaimana relasi gender civitas akademika dan mahasiswa UIN Ar-Raniry. Tujuan artikel ini adalah untuk mengetahui kesenjangan relasi gender yang ada di UIN Ar-Raniry.Studi ini menunjukkan bahwa ada perkembangan peningkatan kuantitas dosen dan karyawan perempuan UIN Ar-Raniry ketika dibandingkan antara tahun 2013 dengan 2015.Bahkan penerimaan jumlah dosen pada tahun 2015 menunjukkan hampir berimbang antara persentase perempuan dan laki-laki.Sementara itu untuk persentase jumlah mahasiswa UIN Ar-Raniry masih lebih banyak perempuan ketimbang laki-laki.

Abstract

Tulisan ini menyoroti tentang dampak pemberlakuan finger print bagi PNS perempuan baik karyawati maupun dosen di lingkungan UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh. Tulisan ini terinspirasi dari banyaknya perdebatan dan sekaligus keluhan akibat dari pemberlakuan sistem absensi digital ini. Bukan hanya para karyawan dan dosen laki-laki yang merasa sedikit keberatan dengan kebijakan ini, apalagi para karyawati dan dosen perempuan yang memiliki peran atau beban ganda (double burden) di ranah publik dan domestik. Perbedaan penafsiran pada Peraturan Menteri Agama Republik Indonesia Nomor 28 Tahun 2013 Tentang Disiplin Kehadiran Pegawai Negeri Sipil di Lingkungan Kementerian Agama pada pasal 3 ayat 1 dan 3, serta Peraturan Direktur Jenderal Pendidikan Islam Nomor 2 Tahun 2013 tentang Disiplin Kehadiran Dosen di Lingkungan Perguruan Tinggi Agama Islam pada pasal 3 ayat 1, 2 dan 3 merupakan awal dari permasalahan, karena pada dasarnya peraturan tersebut memberikan toleransi sampai pukul 09.00 dengan kewajiban memenuhi ketentuan jam kerja 7,5 jam perhari. Bahkan bagi dosen rincian jam kerja di sesuaikan dengan jabatan fungsional masing-masing dengan ketentuan yang berlaku. Hal ini memiliki makna bahwa dosen tidak harus berada di kampus sampai sore hari karena adanya kewajiban yang lain dalam bentuk penelitian dan pengabdian masyarakat. Adanya toleransi dalam kedua peraturan tersebut sangat membantu PNS perempuan yang bisa berangkat ke kantor lebih telat dibandingkan suami dan anak-anak yang pergi ke sekolah, tanpa harus mengabaikan peran sebagai seorang istri dan ibu rumah tangga. Akan tetapi sangat disayangkan, peraturan ini tidak diterapkan oleh UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh sebagai sebuah kebijakan yang mashlahah terutama bagi PNS perempuan.

Abstract

This paper examines how social harmonization can be realized in Aceh since the independence of the Republic of Indonesia until now. The people of Aceh are a pluralistic society, although the majority are Muslim, the problem of conflict between religious communities is rare. Even after the province implemented Islamic Sharia, inter-religious harmony remained closely intertwined. Therefore, there is a need for a study that looks at the social harmonization aspects of religious tolerance, especially in daily behavior terms of Muslim and non-Muslim communities in Banda Aceh city. This paper shows that religious tolerance in Aceh is running as it has in other provinces even though the province has been designated as an area that implements Islamic Shari'a. This can be seen from the interactions that exist between Muslims and non-Muslims in various community activities. Based on the author's observations and experiences, it shows that the religious harmony of the Acehnese people is very deep. Some of the authors' findings in looking at the depth of tolerance include that non-Muslims can live side by side and gain freedom in carrying out their religious life. In addition, between them also established business interactions, cooperation, and involvement in socio-political life. In addition, the active role of non-Muslim communities through the association has strengthened this harmony. Non-Muslims in Aceh have developed mutual respect and compassion through social activities.

Abstract

This article is based on a research on women leadership's opportunity at IAIN Ar- Raniry, Banda Aceh and women's challenges to achieve leadership level at the Islamic educational institutions. Based on the observation, it is found that there are no formal regulations or policies that have prevented women to occupy structural and nonstructural positions. Despite that fact, no women have occupied strategic structural position or having leadership roles such as becoming the Rector or the Dean at the IAIN Ar-Raniry.DOI: 10.15408/sdi.v17i3.457

Abstract

Pandemi Covid-19 telah membawa perubahan perilaku kehidupan sosial. Penerapan protokol covid-19, persoalan kesehatan hingga kekacauan perekonomian melahirkan tatanan kehidupan baru bagi peradaban manusia. Di balik berbagai persoalan, pandemi Covid-19 juga menggugah empati, di masa sulit manusia saling membantu untuk bertahan hidup. Hal tersebut dikenal dengan istilah filantropi, yang dapat dimaknai sebagai voluntary action for the public good atau tindakan sukarela untuk kepentingan publik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif, Library Research (penelitian kepustakaan) dengan pendekatan analisis deskriptif. Adapun Rumusan Masalahnya adalah bagaimana konsep dan praktik filantropi Islam di masa Pandemi Covid-19 serta Bagaimana Filantropi dapat menjadi solusi ditengah pandemi Covid-19? Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, gerakan amal (a philanthropical movement) gencar digaungkan di tengah pandemi Covid-19. Hal tersebut sejalan dengan konsep filantropi Islam. Filantropi diwujudkan dalam bentuk memberi bantuan (harta, fasilitas) kepada pihak yang membutuhkan. Dalam Islam, Allah memerintahkan umatnya peduli dan berbagi. Perintah untuk peduli dan berbagi ini, direalisasikan dalam bentuk zakat, infak, sedekah, hibah, wasiat dan juga wakaf (ZISWAF). Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) mengeluarkan Fatwa No 23 Tahun 2020 terkait pendayagunaan Zakat Infaq dan Shadaqah di masa pandemi Covid-19. Selain itu para publik figure, organisasi kemasyarakatan, dan tokoh publik menggunakan pengaruhnya untuk meningkatkan jumlah dana yang terkumpul. Terutama di era digital, media sosial berperan penting dalam jumlah perolehan pendanaan yang lebih besar. Jika sebelum pandemi, filantropi Islam secara umum dilaksanakan untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Maka di masa pandemi manfaat filantropi Islam langsung terfokus pada tujuan khusus, yaitu membantu masyarakat yang terdampak Pandemi Covid-19, seperti keluarga ekonomi lemah yang kehilangan pencari nafkah utama akibat Covid-19, memastikan ketersediaan Alat Pelindung Diri (APD) bagi tenaga medis dan sebagainya yang terkait langsung dengan Pandemi. Filantropi dapat menjadi jalan keluar sekaligus modal sosial dalam menghadapi pandemi Covid-19.

Abstract

The development of a country is determined by the character of its citizen. Character education is very strategic if developed through education in schools. The history lesson is one of the right subjects to inculcate character values to students. This article aimed to describe the implementation of character values through history learning. The method of writing used was library research. The implementation of character values through history learning can be performed in the following ways; (1) designing a learning implementation plan (LIP) by including the character values to be developed by the core competence, competence standard, basic competence, content standard, and achievement indicators intended, (2) History teachers used the already compiled LIP as a guideline in delivering the lesson. The process of learning was carried out in an active, innovative, creative, effective, interesting, and fun manner centered on the students. The character values applied and developed in all activities involved in the learning process were evaluated in a systematic, measurable, and sustainable way, (3) The result from teachers’ observation and notes concerning students’ character during the learning process could be used as a basis of evaluation toward the attainment of character values implementation. Evaluation results can serve as a consideration and a conclusion describing the profile of students’ character as well as a foundation in determining follow-up actions.
