Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mendeskripsikan koleksi umum yang tersedia di Perpustakaan Universitas Negeri Padang; (2) mendeskripsikan tingkat keterpakaian koleksi umum di Perpustakaan Universitas Negeri Padang dan; (3) memetakan kekuatan dan kelemahan koleksi umum yang dimiliki Perpustakaan Universitas Negeri Padang. Target capaian dalam penelitian ini perpustakaan dapat mengetahui kesesuaian koleksi dengan kebutuhan pemustaka. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan hal-hal sebagai berikut. (1) Koleksi umum yang tersedia di Perpustakaan UNP terdiri dari 46.101 judul dengan 224.694 eksemplar. (2) Tingkat keterpakaian koleksi umum di Perpustakaan UNP rata-rata perbulan adalah 4.998 eksemplar. Pemakain koleksi yang paling tinggi berdasarkan fakultas yaitu Fakultas Ilmu Sosial (FIS) sedangkan keterpakaian koleksi berdasarkan subjek koleksi yang paling banyak di manfaatkan adalah Ilmu sosial dengan jumlah 14.610 eksemplar. Dari data tersebut dapat di ketahui bahwa peminjaman koleksi umum masih rendah jika dibandingkan dengan jumlah koleksi yang tersedia dan jumlah mahasiswa UNP. (3) Kekuatan koleksi umum di Perpustakaan UNP berada pada subjek ilmu sosial dengan 15.160 judul dengan 81.501 eksemplar merupkan subjek inti koleksi Perpustakaan UNP. Kelemahan koleksi yang dimiliki perpustakaan UNP berdasarkan subjek yang sedikit dimiliki perpustakaan Â yaitu subjek karya umum yang terdiri dari 1.503 judul dengan 6.524 eksemplar, kemudian diikuti oleh koleksi dengan subjek filsafat dan psikologi yang terdiri dari 1.859 judul dengan 8423 eksemplar dan subjek kesenian dan olah raga yang terdiri dari 1.770 judul dengan 9.573 eksemplar.

AbstractÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â Â This research specifically aims to determine the role of leadership in encouraging organizations in implementing the principles of TQM in the Universitas Negeri PadangLibrary. Descriptive research method with qualitative approach. Data collection through observation, interview and document analysis. Subjects in this study are leaders, sub-heads, events, facts, documents and various forms of efforts, programs or library activities. The object of this research is leadership in TQM which is implemented inÂ Universitas Negeri PadangÂ Library. The results of research related to the role of leadership in the library of universities can be seen from (1) the leader develops the vision and sets the direction and strategy of the college library to produce the changes needed to achieve the vision; (2) the leader communicates the goals to be achieved through statements and deeds to anyone who may be required to give effect to the formation of a team that understands the vision and strategy of a college library; (3) leaders provide motivation for library librarians and librarians; and (4) the leader must be able to create the desired change of the user and is very useful for the progress of the college library through the provision of new services desired by the user and the new approach in working relationships that help the college libraries compete.Â Keywords:Â Total Quality Management,Â Leadership,Â LeadershipÂ RoleÂ AbstrakPenelitian ini secara khusus bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran kepemimpinan dalam mendorong organisasi dalam mengimplementasikan prinsip-prinsip TQM di Perpustakaan Universitas Negeri Padang. Metode penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara dan analisis dokumen. Subyek dalam penelitian ini adalah pimpinan, kepala sub bagian, kejadian, fakta, dokumen serta berbagai bentuk upaya, program atau kegiatan perpustakaan. Obyek dalam penelitian ini adalah kepemimpinan dalamÂ TQM yang dilaksanakan di Perpustakaan Negeri Padang. Hasil penelitian berkaitan dengan peran kepemimpinan di perpustakan perguruan tinggi dapat dilihat dari (1) pemimpin mengembangkan visi serta menetapkan arah dan strategi perpustakaan perguruan tinggi untuk menghasilkan perubahan-perubahan yang dibutuhkan agar mencapai visi; (2) pemimpin mengkomunikasikan tujuan yang ingin dicapai melalui pernyataan dan perbuatan kepada siapa saja yang mungkin diperlukan untuk memberikan pengaruhnya bagi pembentukan tim yang memahami visi dan strategi perpustakaan perguruan tinggi; (3) pemimpin memberikan motivasi bagi pustakawan dan staf perpustakaan; dan (4) pemimpin harus mampu menciptakan perubahan yang diinginkan pemustaka dan sangat berguna bagi kemajuan perpustakaan perguruan tinggi melalui penyediaan jasa layanan baru yang diinginkan pemustaka dan pendekatan baru dalam hubungan kerja yang membantu perpustakaan perguruan tinggi mampu bersaing.Â Kata Kunci:Â Total Quality Management,Â kepemimpinan, peran kepemimpinan

The existence of a school library is a must. Based on the National Education Standards, eachschool is required to have a library. In its management, the library must be managed byappropriate management personnel and competent in their fields. In line with thedevelopment of science and technology that continues to develop school libraries need to bemanaged and utilized for the benefit of education through an appropriate forum, namely theschool library. Descriptive research method with a qualitative approach. Collecting datathrough observation, interviews and document analysis. Subjects in this study were schoolprincipals, library heads, library staff, visitors, events, facts, documents and various forms ofefforts, school library programs or activities. The object in this study is the development of aschool library based on information technology carried out in SMAN 2 and SMA 3 KotaPadang. The results showed that the factors influencing the development of informationÂ technology-based school libraries in State High School 2 and State 3 High School in PadangCity could be identified into four, namely human resources, information resources, funding,and infrastructure in the school library.Â

Background of the study: TQM or commonly referred to as Total Quality Management organizational culture is focused on the achievement of quality and enhance sustainable manner through every activity of the organization.Purpose: This study specifically aims to: (1) determine the understanding of leadership and staff to the concepts of TQM in the Library of Padang State University (UNP); (2) obtain a picture of how the managerial based TQM activities undertaken to realize the quality of library services in the UNP.Method: This study used descriptive qualitative method. The data collection was done by interview, observation, and analyzing data.Findings: The subjects were leaders, heads of sub-section, the library staff, user, events, facts, documents and other forms of efforts, programs or activities of the library.Conclusion: The object of this research is carried out TQM system in the library of the UNP.

This study aims to describe: (1) writersâ€™ quotation in Jurnal â€œSuluahâ€ published by Balai Pelestarian Sejarah dan Nilai Tradisional Padang, (2) characteristics of literatures quoted by writers, and (3) authorship pattern. Quotation analysis method is used to study the relation between quoting documents and the documents quoted. The object of this study is the publications in Jurnal Suluah in 2001-2-12.The research finds that: (1) writersâ€™ quotation pattern based on article contribution and the number of quotations in articles is 155 articles and 1607 quotations. In average, one article quotes ten documents from various forms of sources. (2) Characteristics of literatures quoted by writers based on genre, year, and age of literatures are as follows: (a) the most contributing document in article writing is book, achieving 1316 quotations; (b) the year span of documents quoted is from 1827 to 2010; and (c) the age of the most cited documents is those published in the last ten years (2001-2010) as much as 35%; (c) the pattern of authorship is that the most cited writer is Koentjaraningrat with 37 citations. The rate of collaborations of the author is very low, because 97% of articles are written by a single author and only 3% are multiple authors.Keywords: scientific articles quotation, Minangkabau study, Jurnal Suluah

Abstract This research is about the writing of a package book containing information of local-bared content herbal medicines. The purpose of this research is to explain kinds of Minangkabau herbal local plants and their benefits. Further, it will describe the processes of writing the book. This research is conducted by using descriptive method and the data are collacted through observation and interview toward local community who own herbal plants in RT 02/RW 11 Dadok Tunggul Hitam and Lubuk Minturun Agro-tourism located in Koto Tangah sub-discrict in Padang. After the data are analyzed, it can be conducted that there are some stages and designs in writing the book. The stage are: (a) identifying the reader needs; (b) set topic of information; (c) collecting informations; (d) evaluating the information validity; (e) analyzing, selecting, and eztracting the information; (f) repackaging information; and (g) defining the readers. The designs are: (1) composing the framework of writing; (2) making cover; (3) making introduction; (4) making table of contents; (5) the content of the book; (6) closing; and (7) back cover.Keywords: information, package of information, and herbal medicine

This paper discussed of the School Library Directory about Padang Panjang the province of West Sumatra. The preparation of this directory aims to create a product that can help users easily find information relating to school libraries around the town of Padang Panjang. In this paper the discussed about creation directory the school library around the town of Padang Panjang the province of West Sumatra. Methods used in writing this paper is the method descriptive. Technique data collection who writers included is direct observation, interview, direct observation, and the literature study. Based on the discussion we can conclude that measures in the manufacture of directory of the school library around Padang Panjang the province of west sumatra following; first, collected data on the school library around Padang Panjang; second, sorts data obtained; third, make a directory of the school library around Padang Panjang; the fourth, make a design of the cover.Keyword: Directory, Padang Panjang, school library.

Abstract In this paper discussed about Student Perceptions of Musical Instruments in the Bung Hatta University Library in Reading Comfort. The purpose of this research is to describe students' perceptions of musical instruments in the Bung Hatta University Library in Padang in the comfort of reading. This research method uses a quantitative approach. Data collected by distributing questionnaires to visitors at the Bung Hatta University library. Samples taken as many as 100 respondents. The results of the questionnaire were compiled by recapitulating research results. The analysis is by describing the recapitulation results in one description to clarify the figures so that they are easy to understand. Based on the results of the study concluded as follows: 1) instrumental music playback was applied as noise to increase productivity in reading, most of the majority (78%) of respondents said they disagreed about the music in the library of Bung Hatta University, and most of the 39% of respondents stated less agree regarding Music playback can increase productivity in reading. 2) listening to music can improve concentration, most 43% of respondents said they disagree about music playback can increase concentration in reading., Most 39% of respondents said they disagree and 38% agreed that music can support reading activities. 3) listening to music can calm the mind, most 34% of respondents said that they disagree about playing music in the library making the mind calm in reading. 4) listening to music can reduce external sounds that can distract, most 41% of respondents said they disagree about playing music can reduce noise outside the library room, most of the majority of 38% of respondents said they disagree about feeling comfortable with the sound of music in the library, because listening to music can reduce external sound that distracts reading. 5) listening to music can affect the pulse and blood pressure in accordance with the frequency, tempo and volume, most 40% of respondents agree that playing music in a library with a volume that is too loud can affect heart rate and blood pressure. 6) music is an external factor that makes users feel comfortable when reading, most 41% of respondents agreed with the existence of music playback students feel comfortable in reading, most 34% of respondents said they disagree about the officers always playing music during visiting hours.Keywords: perception, musical instruments, comfort

The purpose of this paper is describing process and construction of thesis index (S2) annotated Indonesian Language Teaching study Program 2005-2013 in Undergraduate Program of Padang State University Library. Collecting the data was done by observation and directly participation by collecting data from authentic source. Data analysis is descriptive method. The process of construction this thesis index annotated was started by examining thesis information that will be indexed, and then selected, grouped, noted the data, created the annotation, determined the key words, created the thesis index, and typed the index. The purposes of this study were to the use of the library as a learning resource center for the community in the Kantor Arsip Perpustakaan dan Dokumentasi Kota Padang and what obstacles faced by people in the use of the library as a learning resource center. Data were collected through observation and interviews in the Kantor Arsip Perpustakaan dan Dokumentasi Kota Padang. The data were analyzed descriptively. Based on the results of the study be concluded the following: (1) the public use the library in the Kantor Arsip Perpustakaan dan Dokumentasi Kota Padang to add information in the learning activity, provide a reference or references to obtain learning materials, (2) the constraints in using the library, the lack of promotion of the library to the community, facilities and infrastructure that are less complete, less participating librarians, and collection is still not complete, (3) the business to be done by the use of the library in the library, the more optimal promotion, facilities and infrastructure that is equipped , as well as the training of librarians and collection more complete. Therefore it is advised, (1) the procurement of the library collection should pay attention to where the collection is much needed visitors as a source of learning, (2) the library should be to provide funds for the procurement of library collections and promotes both through mass media and electronic media so that the public know of the existence library; (3) librarians should be actively serving visitors to find the information needed.
