Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian teh kombucha kadar 50% terhadap kondisi glukosa darah dengan variasi waktu fermentasi. Teh kombucha termasuk pangan fungsional karena memiliki karakteristik sensori seperti penampakan, warna, tekstur, atau konsistensi dan citarasa yang dapat diterima oleh konsumen. Hewan uji yang dipakai adalah  tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus)jantan sebanyak 16 ekor  umur 2 bulan, dengan perlakuan teh kombucha yang difermentasi selama 6, 9 dan 12 hari pada suhu 25oC per oral. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan 4 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan yaitu P0: sebagai kontrol, air minum tanpa tambahan teh kombucha; P1: air minum + 1,8 ml teh kombucha pagi dan sore fermentasi 6 hari; P2: air minum + 1,8 ml teh kombucha pagi dan sore fermentasi 9 hari; P3: air minum + 1,8 ml teh kombucha pagi dan sore fermentasi 12 hari. Parameter yang diukur adalah kadar glukosa, kenaikan bobot tubuh dan konsumsi pakan. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan ANOVA yang dilanjutkan Uji Duncan pada taraf kepercayaan 95% dengan menggunakan perangkat lunak SPSS 10,0. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian teh kombucha kadar 50 % menurunkan kadar glukosa secara signifikan akan tetapi masih pada batas normal. Kata kunci: tikus putih, teh kombucha, glukosa

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk optimalisasi kualitas telur puyuh yang kaya β-karoten. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimental dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Hewan yang digunakan untuk produksi telur adalah 60 puyuh jepang (Coturnix japonica) betina dikelompokkan dalam 4 kelompok percobaan, yaitu P0: Kontrol (puyuh diberi pakan komersial), P1: Puyuh diberi perlakuan dengan pakan organik standar, P2: Puyuh yang diberi perlakuan pakan organik yang mengandung ikan kembung, daun singkong + serbuk kunyit P3: Puyuh yang diberi perlakuan pakan organic yang mengandung   rumput laut, daun singkong + serbuk kunyit. Masing-masing perlakuan terdiri dari 15 kali ulangan percobaan. Data dianalisis dengan Anova, dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan  (α=0.05.)  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian perlakuan pakan organik pada puyuh menyebabkan bobot telur puyuh menjadi lebih kecil dibandingkan yang tidak diberi perlakuan akan organik. Tidak terdapat perbedaan nyata terhadap konsumsi pakan dan bobot kuning telur, namun terdapat peningkatan rasio bobot kuning telur : bobot telur, peningkatan kadar β-karoten pada telur puyuh organik, baik pada P1, P2, dan P3.Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian pakan organik dapat meningkatkan kandungan β-karoten dalam telur puyuh.Kata kunci :β-karoten, pakan organik, puyuh jepang, telur puyuh.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease that occurs due to impaired insulin secretion caused by progressive damage to beta cells. Pineapple skin vinegar contained acetic acid and antioxidants which have the potential to help repaired the structure of the nephron ren and other organs affected by diabetes. The purpose of this study was to examined the effectiveness of pineapple skin vinegar on improved the histological structure of diabetic rats ( Rattus norvegicus L.). This study based on changed in the structure of the nephron in samples of normal and alloxan-induced mice pre-treatmented and post-treatmented. Twenty-four rats were divided into 6 groups, named normal control, positive control (diabetes + 0.4 mL apple vinegar), negative control (diabetes + water), dose test groups 1, 2, and 3 (pineapple vinegar 0.2 mL; 0.4 mL; 0.8 mL). Statistical analysis test used ANOVA was followed by Duncan test. The conclusion of this research, the pineapple skin vinegar showed the ability to repair the histopathological structure of white rats damaged by diabetes. The optimum dose needed was 0.8 mL to improved the histological structure of the nephron, as indicated by the glomerular diameter and the distance of the Bowman's capsule space to near normal.

Abstract

This research aimed to study the effect of curcumin supplementation and red light exposure to the growth of magelang ducklings. The research design used complete randomized design that divided into four groups and each group consists of five ducklings, they were ducklings from ducks which was not given curcumin and exposed to white light (control), ducklings from ducks which was not given curcumin and exposed to red light (P1), ducklings from ducks was given curcumin 18 mg/head/day and white light (P2) and ducklings from ducks was given curcumin 18 mg/head/ day and red light (P3). The curcumin that given to the duck were mixed with feed as a supplement. The variables of this research were the body weight and morphometry that consisted of the chest perimeter, abdominal perimeter, and fur necklace (the white fur that surounded the neck) width . The collected data were analized with Kruskal Wallis non parametric test and would be further tested with Mann Whitney-U test and linear regression. The result of this research showed that curcumin supplementation and red light exposure to ducks affected the body weight, chest perimeter, abdominal perimeter, and fur necklace width of magelang ducklings. We concluded that 18 mg curcumin supplementation and red light exposure increased ducklings quality, we hope 18 mg curcumin supplementation and red light exposure can be applied to increase ducklings quality, futhermore the ducklings have better productivity.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the triglyceride profile of Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) after being given the parameters of turmeric (Curcuma longa) powder; feed intake, profiles of liver triglycerides, profiles of serum triglycerides and profiles of meat triglycerides. This study uses an experimental method with A Completely Randomized Design Pattern. Test animals used were 45 female Japanese quails were divided into 3 groups, namely; P0: quail were not given turmeric powder, P1: quail were given turmeric powder a dose of 54 mg/quail/day, P3: quail were given turmeric powder a dose of 108 mg/quail/day. Each group with 5 replications. Each repeat consists of 3 Japanese quails. Provision of treatment every day for 30 days starting from the age of 14 days. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by Duncan's test with 95% confidence interval (α = 0.05 level). Analysis of the data used is software Minitab software 16. Results showed that the levels of turmeric powder are given in Japanese quail significant (P˂0.05) on liver triglyceride levels, serum and Japanese quail meat but had no significant effect (P˃0.05) on consumption feed. The results showed that the optimal dose of turmeric powder to lower triglyceride levels of Japanese quail is 108 mg/quail/day as evidenced by the highest decrease in liver triglyceride profiles, profiles of serum triglycerides and triglyceride profiles of Japanese quail meat compared with other treatments.

Abstract

Neem leaves is one part of the neem tree which can be used as a traditional medicinal herb. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of neem leaf ethanol extract on hepatosomatic index (HSI) and hepatocyte diameter in female mice. The study used a Complete Randomized Design consist of 4 treatments and 5 replications including K (aquadest), P1, P2 and P3 (neem leaf ethanol extract with dose of 8.4,11.2 and 14 mg/ kg BW/day. The treatment was administered orally with a volume of 0.2 mL for 21 days. Body weight were measured every 7 days. The liver was isolated, weighed and histologically prepared with paraffin method, HE staining and 5 μm incision thickness. HSI value determined from body weight and liver weight. Hepatocyte diameter were measured on 7 hepatocytes per lobule. The data was analyzed using ANOVA at 95% confidence level. The results showed that neem leaf ethanol extract had no significant effect (p> 0,05) on body weight, liver weight, HSI value and hepatocyte diameter, but the liver microanatomy showed hepatocyte damage. It can be concluded that exposure of neem leaf ethanol extract for 21 days still safe to be used for reference of traditional medicine. Keywords: Neem leaf, HSI, hepatocyte diameter

Abstract

Neem leaves (Azadirachta indica A. Juss.) contain organic compounds such as alkaloids, steroids, flavonoids, triterpenoids, saponins and tannins which have any potency as traditional medicinal. This study aimed to examine the ethanolic extract of Neem leaves on kidney microanatomy in mice (Mus musculus L.). Completely Random Design consists of 4 treatments, 5 replications, namely K (aquadest), P1, P2 and P3 (Treated by dosages 8.4; 11.2 and 14 mg/kg BB/day). The treatments were given orally with volume 0.2 mL for 21 days. Kidney organ was isolated, weighed and made by histological processed with a 5 μm incision thickness using the paraffin method with Hematoxylin-Eosin staining. Observation of preparations were carried out to calculate glomerular diameter, Bowman’s capsule diameter and Bowman’s space diameter. The data were analyzed using ANOVA test at 95% confidence level and continued with DMRT test. The analysis results showed that there was significant affect (p<0.05) on exposure ethanolic extract of Neem leaves to the glomerular and Bowman's capsule diameter but didn’t show significantly affect (p>0.05) to the Bowman's space diameter, changes in kidney weight and drinking consumption of mice. It could be concluded that the exposure of ethanolic extract of Neem leaves in a period of 21 days is still safe to use as traditional alternative medicine. Abstract

The high-fat diet can increase free radicals, which can damage the intestinal histological structure. The ethanolic neem leaf extract contains antioxidants that have the potential to help improve the intestinal histological structure. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of ethanolic neem (A. indica A. Juss) leaf extract on the histopathological structure of the small intestine in rats (R. norvegicus L.) hyperlipidemia. This study used 24 rats divided into 6 groups: normal control, positive control, high-fat diet + simvastatin, the test groups dose I, II, and III (ethanolic neem leaf extract 75 mg/200 gBW, 100 mg/200 gBW, and 125 mg/200 gBW). The results of the analysis using ANOVA test on the height of villi, mucous thickness, and number of goblet cells in the small intestine part duodenum, jejunum, and ileum showed no significant difference (p>0.05). The results of the morphology of epithelial cells in treatments P0, P2, and P5 showed normal epithelial cells, whereas treatments P1, P3, and P4 showed erosion epithelial cells. Based on the result, the ethanolic neem (A. indica A. Juss) leaf extract can suppress the damage effects of epithelial cells and the histological structure of the small intestine in rats (R. norvegicus L.) hyperlipidemia

Abstract

Teh kombucha merupakan minuman hasil fermentasi teh dan gula oleh bakteri Acetobacter xylinum dan khamir Saccharomyces yang mengandung berbagai jenis asam organik dan vitamin, serta berperan sebagai probiotik. Peran teh kombucha sebagai growth promoter adalah dengan menyempurnakan proses metabolisme dalam pencernaan ayam pedaging, sehingga nutrisi dapat terserap dan tercukupi dengan baik untuk pertumbuhan dan perkembangan yang optimal. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis bobot lemak abdominal pada ayam pedaging (Gallus gallus) setelah pemberian teh kombucha dalam air minum. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan September sampai Oktober 2014 di Laboratorium Biologi Struktur dan Fungsi Hewan. Teh kombucha yang digunakan merupakan hasil fermentasi teh hijau selama 12 hari. Hewan uji 20 ekor ayam pedaging strain CP 707 dibagi acak dalam 4 perlakuan konsentrasi yaitu, 0%, 10%, 20%, dan 40% teh kombucha dalam air minum selama 32 hari. Analisa statistik menggunakan ANOVA pada taraf kepercayaan 95% dan uji lanjut Duncan menunjukkan hasil tidak berbeda nyata terhadap lemak abdominal dan konsumsi pakan, sedangkan bobot tubuh dan konsumsi minum menunjukkan hasil berbeda nyata. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah pemberian teh kombucha dalam air minum sampai konsentrasi 40% belum mampu menurunkan kandungan lemak abdominal pada ayam pedaging.   Kata kunci: teh kombucha; ayam pedaging; lemak abdominal

Abstract

Hepar berfungsi sebagai biotransformasi, penyimpanan nutrisi dan detoksifikasi racun yang datang melalui makanan dan minuman. Minuman fermentasi dapat mempengaruhi kondisi jaringan hepar dan bobot badan karena hasil dari metabolit sekunder adalah alkohol dan beberapa asam organik. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengkaji dan menganalisis pengaruh perlakuan teh kombucha fermentasi 6 (P1), 9 (P2) dan 12 (P3) hari fermentasi konsentrasi 100% terhadap jaringan hepar, diameter hepatosit, bobot badan, konsumsi pakan dan minum. Penelitian ini menggunakan 16 ekor tikus Wistar jantan terdiri atas 4 perlakuan dan 4 kali ulangan. Perlakuan penelitian ini terdiri dari P0 : perlakuan kontrol; P1, P2 dan P3 berturut-turut adalah perlakuan teh kombucha fermentasi 6, 9 dan 12 hari konsentrasi 100%. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Variabel yang diukur pada penelitian ini adalah diameter hepatosit, bobot badan, konsumsi pakan dan minum pada hewan uji. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) pada taraf kepercayaan 95% dan apabila terdapat perbedaan nyata, dilanjutkan uji Duncan. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa teh kombucha fermentasi 6, 9 dan 12 hari konsentrasi 100% tidak memiliki perbedaan nyata terhadap seluruh variabel. Histologi hepar terlihat normal dan tidak menunjukkan ciri-ciri kerusakan sel. Hal ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa teh kombucha dapat dikonsumsi aman oleh mammalia karena tidak menimbulkan kerusakan hepar pada hewan model penelitian. Kata kunci : histopatolgi, hepar, teh kombucha, bobot badan, tikus wistar (Rattus norvegicus)
