Abstract

Processing Sanitation Hygiene And Laboratory Analysis E.coli  in Nutrient Installation Of General Hospital H.Adam Malik. Food processing sanitation hygiene is intended to make better health life and to avoid disease. The application of the principle of food processing sanitation hygiene was carried out before food production, during manufacturing process, storage, transportation up to serving the food. The objective of this research was to know the description of sanitation hygiene and the contents of Escherichia coli in cooked food and the appliances of stainless steel plates in nutrient installation of general hospital H. Adam Malik. The method used was descriptive by observing the description of sanitation hygiene and laboratory analysis to the content of E.coli in cooked food product and stainless steel plate. The data was obtained with interview and observation. The result of research showed that nutrient installation of general hospital H. Adam Malik in sanitation hygiene fulfilled health requirements in accordance with Decision of Health Ministry RI No.1098/Menkes/SK/VII/2003 with total score 783,5 (>700) even though some points did not fulfill health requirements as in manufacturing food, cooked food storage and laboratory analysis, which  from 6 samples of cooked food checked in the laboratory and 2 samples did not fulfill health requirements since it contained E.coli. Stainless steel eating plate appliances were still in safe limit accordance with Decision of Health Ministry RI No.1098/Menkes/SK/VII/2003. Based on the result of research, it is necessary to supersive and give counseling regarding nutrient installation in hospital H. Adam Malik about the importance of food sanitation hygiene and appliances tools in food processing to fulfill health requirements. Key words : Sanitation, Escherichia coli, Food, Appliances

Abstract

Analysis of lead (Pb) in beef liver from cattle farm in Deliserdang regency in 2012. Beef liver is a nutritious food contains a lot of protein needed for body growth, development and health. A high protein beef liver could be potentially contaminated both microbiological and chemical substance. Contamination of lead (Pb) could be occurred at the husbandry.This study aimed to determine the lead (Pb) in beef liver from cattle farm in Deli Serdang and describe the location of the cattle farm, fodder and drinking water for cow. This study was conducted by descriptive method as an attempt to describe the location of the cattle farm, fodder and drinking water for cow and the analysis of the lead (Pb) in beef liver. The analyze showed the lead (Pb) in beef liver did not exceed the specified threshold value, according to Standar Nasional Indonesia 7378 tahun 2009. The laboratory tests result of the lead (Pb) from ten beef livers showed that the lowest was 0,023 ppm and the highest was 1,230 ppm. Based on the result of study, it was found that the content of lead (Pb) in beef liver was under the specified threshold value. This could be as the result of the good feeding of cattle farm in Deli Serdang regency but there are also many cattle farms located on the side of the highway and close to waste dumps. However, there should be controlling, regulation, and advisory by related instance (Health Department). Key words :  Lead (Pb), beef liver

Abstract

Relation between house environment sanitation and people’s behavior with the incidence of Filariasis in Kampung Rakyat subdistrict Labuhan Batu Selatan regency 2012.Filariasis is a chronic infectious disease which is caused by the infection of nematode parasite, lymphatic filaria transmitted by Mansonia, Anopheles and Culex mosquitos. Filariasis is also known as elephantiasis. The purpose of this research is to study the relation between house environment sanitation including waste drainage system, mosquitos breeding sites, mosquitos resting sites, ventilation with insect-proof gauze, room lighting, wall density, room moisture level, with the people’s behavior including knowledge, attitude and practice in Kampung Rakyat subdistrict Labuhan Batu Selatan regency 2012. This is an analytical survey with case control design. Population for this research is the people suffering from Filariasis which are 20 persons and the control is the people who don’t suffer from Filariasis which are 20 persons. Results from this research show that knowledge and practice have significant relation with the incidence of Filariasis. House environment sanitasion including waste drainage system (p=0,057), mosquitos breeding sites (p=0,157), ventilation with insect-proof gauze (p=0,177), wall density (p=0,122),room lighting (p=0,500), moisture level (p=0122,) all has no significant relation with the incidence of Filariasis analysed with chi-square test, the only one that has a significant relation is mosquitos resting site (p=0,026). The people are suggested to wear long-sleveed clothing and trousers as self-protection when going out at night time, use mosquito-net for sleeping, promote sanitation for house environment and do a community self-help. Abstract

Analyze the concentration of dust and health disorders in communities around the cement industry at Kuala Indah village, sub-discrit of Sei Suka, Regency of Batu Bara in 2012. Cement industry has impact on air pollution especially dust. It is predicted to cause diseases to the community around of the cement factory at Kuala Indah Village particularly respiratory airway disorder, irritations of skin and eyes. This study was analyze to concentration of dust and health disorders of the community around the cement factory at Kuala Indah Village Kecamatan Sei Suka Kabupaten Batu Bara. It was a descriptive study cross-sectional design consisting of 56 samples. The data collection was carried out by using questionnaire and the measurement instrument of dust concentration, a Haz-Dust of EPAM-5000 Model. Based on the result of measurement carried out on 20 September 2012, the average concentration of dust was of 86,5 μg/m3 and of 76,0 μg/m3 on 20 November 2012. It indicates that the concentration of dust was relatively less than the standard (150 μg/m3). Based on the analyzed data, it can be described that some (33,9%) respondents have health disorders especially skin irritation (73,7%). Based on the result of the study, it can be concluded that the concentration of dust around the cement factory of Kuala Indah Village is eligible, however, the re-exposure may result in health disorders. It is suggested to the cement factory to protect the environment by use the equipment to minimize the pollution. Keywords : Dust concentration, health disorder

Abstract

Analysis of river water quality due to Batu Bola landfill pollution and characteristics with health  of Batang Ayumi river users in Padangsidimpuan city. Batang Ayumi river which located in Batunadua village, district Batunadua, Padangsidimpuan city, has been polluted by Batu Bola landfills, according to government regulation No.82 of  2001 concerning about the Management of  Water Quality and Water Pollution Control. This study is a descriptive survey, which is to know about the physical pollution (TDS) and chemical pollution (BOD, COD and Phosphate) in Batang Ayumi river, taken from 10 points whitin 50 meters, and river users health problems were conducted in 2012. Object of this research is the river. Batu Bola landfills and mix between the outlet and river water are the comparison samples in the lab. The result of this research showed the contamination of TDS and BOD in all samples, but only a few samples indicated COD and Phosphate contamination from all the samples studied. The highest result is the landfill outlet, which is TDS 3140 mg/l, BOD 31,63 mg/l, COD 87,8 mg/l and Phosphate 0,5 mg/l. The result of interview show that  there is many people who suffer skin desease and eye desease. Local government is advised to give more attention to the Batu Bola landfills so that people are safer in using the river water for their daily needs, because many people are still dependent on Batang Ayumi river. Abstract

Relatian between personal hygiene and use of safety equipment with complains of skin disorder at shrimp cleaners workers in pecan labuhan subdistrict medan labuhan district 2012. Skin disease is a health problem in Indonesia. According to data RISKESDAS (2007), the prevalence of dermatitis in Indonesia amounted to 6.78%, in North Sumatra at 2.63%. Based on data from Pekan Labuhan Community Health Center skin disorder cases 2011 in the district of Medan Labuhan many as 89 cases.The purposeof this studywas todetermine the relationship ofpersonal hygieneanduse ofsafety equipmenttoworkerscomplaintsof skin disorders inworkersatthe Pekan Labuhan Subdistrict Medan Labuhan District.This research is an analytic survey with a cross-sectional design, in order to know the relation between personal hygiene and use of safety equipment with complaints of skin disorders in workers at the Pekan Labuhan Subdistrict Medan Labuhan District 2012 with the population, as many as 75 people taken using the total sampling. The results of the chi-square variable age (p = 0.000), variable length work (p = 0.000), educational variables (p = 0.001), variable skin hygiene at work (p = 0.040), use of variable work clothes (p = 0.000) , the variable use of work gloves (p = 0.000) and the use of variable work shoes (p = 0.000), there is a significant association with symptoms of skin disorders. Variables that are not significant with symptoms of skin disorder is variable daily skin hygiene and cleanliness of the nails. Based on this research, for workers to pay more attention to personal hygiene and use of safety equipment in order to prevent occupational diseases. Keywords: personal hygiene, safety equipment, skin

Abstract

The relation of personal hygiene and environmental health with skin disease in Denai District Medan Denai Subdistrict. Skin is a part of body that quite sensitive for kind of diseases. Bad environment intended some of skin diseases. Factors to influence high of prevalance skin diseases are warm climate and hubidity, bad personal hygiene such as cleanliness of skin, hair, skin of the head, nails, intensity of take a bath and decrease economic is also factor to influence.The Purpose of this analytical survey study with cross sectional design was to analyze the relationship between personal hygiene (cleanliness of skin, hands and nails, clothes, towels, bed and bed linen and environmental sanitation with remonstrance of skin diseases at Denai district Medan Denai Subdistrict Medan city in 2012.Kind of this research is analytical survey with cross sectional study design. Population of this study were all of people in this area with criteria as a female 10-14 years old. Total of that criteria were 743 people and sampel of this study were 88 people.The result of this study found that the most of cleanliness of skin, hands and nails and towel were bad category, whereas cleanliness of clothes, bed and bed linen were good category. Test result showed that there was a significant relationship between cleanliness of skin (p=0,009), hands and nails (p=0,001), clothes (p=0,011), towels (p=0,001), bed and bed linen (p=0,025), environmental sanitation (p=0,014) with skin diseases remonstrance.The management of cadres in community health center is suggested to provide further information about remonstrance skin diseases through extension and training in Denai district Medan Denai Subdistrict Medan City and community need for improving personal hygiene and protect environmental health hope that can out of skin diseases. Abstract

Laboratory Analysis of the types and rate artificial dyes lollipop candy branded and unbranded around in Medan city. Lolipop candy is a popular product of snack to eat with variously types, have a prominently colors, that many people like it. In order to attract the consumer mostly the dyes substance as used to the product known as restricted formula due to the product may cause a dangerous impact over the human health. The objective study is to determine the sort and grade of artificial dyes rate on the lollipop branded candy and lollipop non-branded candy on Medan City for 2012. To view whether the uses of the artificial dyes on lollipop candy fulfilling the requirement for health. The method used study in survey research with descriptive one. The sample taken from Petisah Market, Thamrin Plaza, Medan Fair Plaza, Palladium Plaza, and also from Supermarket operation on this city, bring it to laboratory for examination. The result showed that from 7 types of the market lollipop candy existed on market and in examination found that it contained an artificial dyes as not permitted that is Ponceau 3R and another 7 samples of lollipop non-branded candy in examination, 1 samples containing artificial dyes not permitted that is Ponceau 3R. The rate noted on 7 samples of lollipop branded candy found at least 3 samples not fulfilling the requirement that is 441 mg/kg, 450 mg/kg, 451 mg/kg and 1 sample of  lollipop non-branded candy not seemly fulfilling the requirement because used an artificial dyes not permitted. Abstract

Analysis of Borax (Na2B4O7 10 H2O) in Branded and Unbranded White Bread Which is Sold in Padang Bulan Subdistrict Medan 2012. White bread is one of perishable foods. Wheat flour as white bread ingredients containing high starch and it is a source of nutrients for microorganisms. Therefore, it is required the addition of presentatives into the white bread dough to extend the usage period. Harmful food additives should not be present in food. One of them is borax. The purpose of this research was was to determine whether there is borax in branded and unbranded white bread that is sold in Padang Bulan Subdistrict, Medan.The research was a descriptive survey to determine the presence of borax in branded and unbranded white bread.The results showed that laboratory test result with flame test methods and the reaction of curcumin, there was no branded and unbranded white bread containing borax.Presentative which used in some white bread is calcium propionate and acetic acid. Food additives such as emulsifiers, acidity regulator and bread improver including packaging and storage procedure can affect the quality and usage period of white bread.It can be concluded that white bread is safe to consume because it does not contain borax for the purpose of preservation. However, there should be supervision, counseling by the relevant agencies (Departement of Health) on food Additives which are safe for consumption to producers and consumers. Consumers are expected to be wise in choosing food products. To producers are expected to include the label expiration date, license from Health Departement/ BPOM, as well as a complete composition on white bread packaging as information to consumers who will buy white bread. Abstract

Analysis the Amount of Insecticide Residue Organophosphate Group on Cabbage (Brassica oleracea)After Washing and Boiling in Dolat Rakyat Village Karo Regency 2012.Insecticide was known to be potentially dangerous to consumers. Risk of insecticide use was insecticide residue may be persist on agricultural products, such as cabbage.The purpose of this research was to know farmer’s insecticide application, insecticide residue on cabbage in Dolat Rakyat Village Karo Regency,and the effectivenes of various chemical solution to reduce the residue.This research was a simple descriptive. The method used was applicable in the examination of laboratory on cabbage and interview using a questionnaire to 3farmers who plant cabbages.The Result showed that the type of insecicides used by farmers was organophosphate and diamida group. Dosage used was appropriate with the regulation with 15 times of spray and interval spray before haverst was less 1 week.On haverst,residue on cabbage was chlorpiryphos with 0,698 mg/kg. Washing with running water reduce the residue by 76,36%, soaking with DWC’s water by 22,64%, vinegar solution by 35,53%, salt solution by 65,90%, bicarbonat solution by 40,97%, lemon solution by 46,99%, washing followed by boilling by 76,93%.It can be concluded that residue on cabbage obtained from  Dolat Rakyat village was not exceeded it’s allowable MRL.Washing followed by boiling was found comparatively more effective than washing alone in dislodging the residue.It had been suggested tofarmers toapplyinsecticidesin accordancewith the regulation andconsumers torecognize the importance ofwashing processbefore consumption.
