Abstract

This research investigates the results of studies related to the implementation of Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)-based learning at elementary schools in Indonesia. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) with meta-synthesis model, this research selects research articles related to STEM-based learning at elementary school in Indonesia from google scholar and google site as sources for primary data and secondary data, respectively. After reviewed through inclusion and exclusion criteria evaluated by quality assessments, 15 scientific articles published within 2015 to 2020 are analysed.  Findings show that many studies have great interest in developing STEM-based teaching and learning materials, while others focus on identifying the impact of STEM-based learning on various learning achievements such as creative thinking skills, critical thinking skills, basic questioning skills, and scientific literacy, and learning achievement in general.

Abstract

Keterampilan Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) merupakan suatu keterampilan abad 21 yang dianggap penting. Keterampilan CPS dapat dikembangkan melalui pembelajaran berbasis proyek. Namun dalam implementasinya, guru dan siswa sering mengalami berbagai kesulitan. Salah satu strategi untuk menyiasati hal tersebut adalah dengan mengintegrasikan kegiatan rekayasa. Melalui metode analisis deskriptif, penelitian ini mengungkap bagaimana Proyek Desain Rekayasa, yaitu pembelajaran yang mengintegrasikan engineering design dan pembelajaran berbasis proyek, mampu mengembangkan keterampilan CPS dan meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa. Empat belas orang siswa kelas delapan terlibat sebagai subjek penelitian, dimana siswa melakukan sebuah proyek untuk memecahkan suatu masalah secara berkolaborasi melalui aktivitas perekayasaan. Keterampilan kolaborasi siswa diukur melalui observasi selama pembelajaran berlangsung. Sedangkan, kemampuan siswa dalam pemecahanan masalah serta pemahaman konseptual siswa diukur dengan menggunakan pre-test dan post-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Proyek Desain Rekayasa mampu memfasilitasi siswa untuk mengembangkan keterampilan collaborative problem-solving serta meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa mengenai sistem peredaran darah pada manusia.

Abstract

Covid-19 (Corona Virus Disease-19) Pandemic firstly discovered in December 2019 in Wuhan City. All sectors are expected to comply with established protocols to limit physical distancing and avoid crowds.  With all efforts made by the community and the government, the spread of Covid-19 will not end until 2021. The government introduced the term New Normal which means people must live adapting to this virus, carrying out all the usual activities by complying with health protocols, such as: using hand sanitizer, washing hands, paying attention to capacity in one room, checking the temperature, and wearing mask. In Purwakarta, some schools have conducted offline learning, this can be one of the causes of the spread of the Covid-19 virus, so there needs to be education related to the importance of maintaining health in this New Normal. From this problem, the researchers presented the program entitled seminar on the urgency of maintaining health in the new normal in the community of SDN 02 Cipaisan. The implementation of this service is carried out online and offline. Presenters provide material online while participants follow offline while adhering to applicable health protocols. From the data collection through questionnaires taken before and after the seminar, it was obtained that teachers and parents are increasingly aware and aware of the importance of maintaining health during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

The low student learning outcomes in mathematics may be caused by the selection of an inappropriate learning model. To be able to help students understand learning mathematics, it is necessary to take action that can improve learning outcomes. As an effort to improve student learning outcomes, this study used the STAD-type Cooperative Learning model with the type of Classroom Action Research (CAR). The purpose of this study is to determine the increase in student learning outcomes in mathematics before and after being given action in the form of applying the STAD-type Cooperative Learning model. Based on the findings that have been analyzed, there is an increase in learning outcomes in cycle I, namely during initial observations the average student learning outcomes in mathematics only amounted to 53.3. After the implementation of the first cycle of learning, student learning outcomes began to increase with an average value of 69.3. However, this increase tends to be still below the targeted completeness criteria. So earning was carried out again in cycle II. During the implementation of cycle II, it experienced an increase, namely an average value of 81.1 was obtained so that it could be declared "Completed" because it had achieved the targeted completeness criteria. Thus it can be concluded that the STAD Cooperative Learning Model can improve student learning outcomes in mathematics.

Abstract

Science process skills are skillssthattmust be mastereddby students in the scienceelearning process. Theelow skills offstudents' science processes are the main basissfor this research. This study aims to determine the effect and increase the application3of STEM approaches to the science2process skills of elementary school students. The type of research used in this study was quasi-experimental with a non-equivalent control group design. The sample consisted of two classes of fifth grade elementary school students, which were then divided into experimental classes that received treatment with the application of learning using a STEM approach and control classes that received learning using a scientific approach. The results of data analysis showed that learning with the STEM approach resulted in an increase of 0.81 and was in the high category, while the scientific approach resulted in an increase of 0.38 and was in the medium category. These results show that students' science process skills improved better in classes that applied a STEM approach compared to classes that applied a scientific approach. In addition, there was an influence from the STEM approach on improving the science process skills of elementary school students by 16.9%. In this study, it was concluded that: 1) The improvement of science process skills of students whoareceived learning1using a STEM approach1was better than3students who received learning1with a scientificiapproach. 2) STEM approaches to science learning affect students'iscience1processiskills.

Abstract

This research is classroom action research by applying a generative learning model assisted by ClassPoint which is motivated by students' low critical thinking skills in science learning at SDN Karangmadu. This ability is included in the scientific process in the nature of science. However, in the learning process, there are students who have not been able to master critical thinking skills because the learning models used have not varied, and the lack of use of learning media. Based on observation activities that have been carried out in class V of SDN Karangmadu in science learning, it was found that there is a lack of involving indicators of critical thinking skills during the learning process. In addition, it is evidenced by the results of the initial test conducted where the average student score is less than the Minimum Completion Criterion, which is 72. This study aims to improve (1) students' critical thinking skills, (2) teacher and student activities. The research method used is classroom action research with Kemmis and Taggart designs. This research was carried out in 2 cycles. The instruments used are test assessment sheets, student and teacher observation sheets. The results of obtaining scores during the action showed an increase from each meeting in each cycle. The results showed that (1) the increase in classical completeness in students' critical thinking skills from pre-cycle by 56.52% (low), cycle I by 78.26% (medium) to 86.73% (high) in cycle II. (2) an increase in teacher and student activities from cycle I in the good category to very good in cycle II. Thus, researchers concluded that the ClassPoint-assisted generative model can be an alternative learning model to improve students' critical thinking skills in science learning in elementary school.

Abstract

This seminar activity aims to introduce the PhET application as a teaching medium that can be used in learning activities in elementary schools. PhET (Physics Education Technology) is a site that provides learning simulations physics which can be downloaded for free for the benefit of learning in class or for individual learning interests. By using PhET simulation, students are expected to be able to better understand the theory and practicum that has been carried out into the simulation. From the results of the questionnaire and the satisfaction that was filled in by the seminar participants, it can be seen that 86% of the messages from the subjects present did not know about this PhET application before and the other 24% knew but had never used it. As a result of this seminar activity, the subjects who attended the seminar activities understood and were able to apply PhET simulations to learning activities

Abstract

Assemblr Edu is an application that provides interactive 3D augmented reality-based learning media for students. research was conducted on the effectiveness of the application as a learning medium for teaching and learning activities of the Assemblr Edu application. In the application, various learning topics are presented that can be studied by students from elementary to high school levelsThis research uses a descriptive quantitative research method by utilizing google Forms in disturbing questionnaires in form of questionnaires. The result of the research is: The Assemblr Edu learning application can be a more interesting and modern learning solution to be applied in schools; The use of the Assemblr Edu application which is quite easy can provide opportunities for more effective learning with the features of learning topics that are already complete enough to be learned; the lack of knowledge of students about Augmented Reality technology has an impact on the Assemblr Edu application that is rarely used by schools or students independently; and support from hardware such as smartphones is very important with specifications that are large enough in terms of memory storage, to run applications better and efficiently and connection stability also affects the use of this learning application.
