Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh pembelajaran dengan pendekatan CPA terhadap pencapaian kemampuan spatial sense siswa Sekolah Dasar (SD) jika ditinjau secara keseluruhan dan Kemampuan Awal Matematis (KAM). Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuasi eksperimen dengan desain kontrol pretes dan postes pada mata pelajaran Matematika dengan pokok bahasan bangun ruang terhadap 74 siswa sekolah dasar di Kecamatan Cikampek Kabupaten Karawang Jawa Barat. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan dua kelompok belajar; kelompok yang menggunakan pendekatan CPA sebagai kelompok eksperimen, dan kelompok yang menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional sebagai kelompok kontrol. Analisis data baik secara deskriptif maupun inferensial menunjukkan bahwa pencapaian kemampuan spatial sense siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan pendekatan CPA lebih baik dari siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran konvensional; baik ditinjau secara keseluruhan dan tiap kelompok KAM.Dengan demikian, pembelajaran CPA dapat mengembangkan kemampuan spatial sense siswa sekolah dasar.Â

Pendekatan inkuiri merupakan salah satu pendekatan yang dapat diterapkan pada pembelajaran matematika di sekolah dasar. Inkuiri merupakan pendekatan penemuan namun berbeda dengan penemuan pada pendekatan discovery. Inkuiri lebih menekankan pada pencarian. Inkuiri menuntut siswa untuk menjadi seorang peneliti atau ilmuwan, namun dalam konteks pembelajaran, siswa masih dibimbing oleh guru, maka dari itu inkuiri dikatakan sebagai pendekatan penemuan terbimbing. Inkuiri dapat dilakukan melalui beberapa langkah sistematis, yaitu: 1) Merumuskan masalah; 2) Mengajukan hipotesis; 3) Mengumpulkan data; 4) Menguji hipotesis berdasarkan data yang dikumpulkan; dan 5) Membuat kesimpulan. Penerapkan pendekatan inkuiri dalam pembelajaran matematika dapat membantu siswa belajar menemukan asal-usul sebuah rumus, konsep, ataupun teori matematika.

Penerapan pendekatan CPA dalam pembelajaran matematika memberian peluang untuk meningkatkan kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa SD. Kegiatan pembelajaran yang diawali dengan kegiatan memanipulasi benda konkret memberikan kesempatan kepada siswa SD belajar mengaitkan materi matematika yang dipelajari dengan kehidupan sehari hari. Kegiatan pembelajaran pada tahapan pictorial dimana siswa diberikan kesempatan menggambar sesuatu yang menyerupai benda konkret dan kemudian membuat gambar secara simbolis dari benda konkret merupakan sebuah jembatan yang membantu siswa sampai pada sebuah pemikiran matematika yang abstrak. Jembatan berpikir yang dibangun pada tahapan ini akan membantu siswa memahami keterkaitan antara topik matematika yang dipelajari dengan topik matematika lainnya, serta membantu siswa memahami adanya keterkaitan antara matematika dengan bidang ilmu lainnya. Hal ini sejalan dengan indikator yang ingin dicapai dalam kemampuan koneksi matematis.

Abstract:. The study aims to examine the influence of CPA learning approach towards the enhancement of mathematical connection ability of elementary school students. The present research is a quasi experiment using pretest and posttest design controls in Mathematics applied to 39 elementary school students in Purwakarta, West Java, Indonesia. The results of the study show that mathematical connection ability of elementary school students who were taught using CPA learning approach is enhanced than the elementary school students who were taught using conventional learning as a whole group of high and low achiever students according to their mathematical prior ability. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh pendekatan pembelajaran CPA terhadap peningkatan kemampuan koneksi matematika siswa sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan menggunakan kontrol desain pretest dan posttest dalam Matematika diterapkan kepada 39 siswa sekolah dasar di Purwakarta, Jawa Barat, Indonesia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan koneksi matematika siswa sekolah dasar yang diajarkan menggunakan pendekatan pembelajaran CPA lebih meningkat daripada siswa sekolah dasar yang diajar menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional secara keseluruhan dalam kelompok siswa berprestasi tinggi dan rendah sesuai dengan kemampuan matematika mereka sebelumnya.

This research is motivated by the importance of mathematical reasoning abilities for primary school students. This research aims at looking at the effect of the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract (CPA) approach on the enhancement of mathematical reasoning abilities of primary school students. This research method is a quasi-experiment with pre-test and post-test control group design in Mathematics subjects with the theme of data presentation. The research sample consisted of 121 fifth grade students in two primary schools in Bekasi Regency. The test and non-test instruments were involved in this research. The results revealed that there wasthe influence between the CPA approach and students' mathematical reasoning abilities, and the achievement and enhancement of mathematical reasoning abilities of students who got learning with the CPA approach werebetter than students who got conventional learning based on all student review and a category of Prior Mathematical Ability (PMA) high, moderate and low. In conclusion, the mathematical reasoning ability of primary school students can be improved by applying the CPA approach.

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini dilakukan karena masih rendahnya hasil belajar siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat peningkatan Hasil Belajar (HB) siswa menggunakan pendekatan Concrete Pictorial Abstract (CPA) ditinjau secara keseluruhan maupun berdasarkan Kemampuan Awal Matematis (KAM). Metode penelitian yang dilakukan yaitu penelitian kuasi eksperimen dengan desain nonequivalent pretest postest control group pada mata pelajaran matematika pokok bahasan volume bangun ruang Kubus dan Balok terhadap 119 siswa Sekolah Dasar di Purwasukasih. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah tes dan non tes. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh dapat disimpulkan bahwa: Peningkatan HB siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan pendekatan CPA lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran konvensional ditinjau dari keseluruhan maupun KAM.Kata Kunci : Pendekatan Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract (CPA), Hasil Belajar (HB), Kemampuan Awal Matematis (KAM) dan Siswa Sekoah DasarIMPROVEMENT OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES THROUGH THE CONCRETE-PICTORIAL-ABSTRACT (CPA) APPROACH ABSTRACTThis research was conducted because of the low level of Learning Outcome of students uses Concrete Pictorial Abstract approach (CPA) if considered by whole and based on Prior Mathematical Ability (PMA). This research was motivated by limited self-regulated learning (SRL) in elementary school students. The aim of this research was to understand the increase in SRL of elementary school students apply the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract (CPA) approach which was reviewed as a whole and based on Early Mathematical Ability (EMA) during the COVID-19. This study was applied with a quasi-experimental method through a nonequivalent control group. Determination of the sample through purposive sampling on fifth-grade elementary school students in Central Jakarta. The sample coincide of 27 students each for the CPA and the conventional class. Measurement through a scale of SRL. This research informs the students' SRL on CPA learning that is significantly better than SRL with conventional approach reviewed as a whole and in the medium EMA group., however, based on the high and low EMA groups, SRL students who received CPA learning were not significantly better than those with conventional learning.

The spatial sense ability of elementary school students is still low. Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract (CPA) approach is considered able to improve students' spatial sense abilities. This research aims to find out the increase of spatial sense of elementary school students who learned with CPA approach and conventional learning in terms of overall students as well as categories of high, medium, and low Mathematical Prior Ability (MPA). This research uses a quasi-experimental method with pretest and posttest control design in Mathematics subject with the topic of 3D geometry for 131 fifth grade elementary school students in Kotabaru District, Karawang Regency and Cipeundeuy District, Subang Regency. This research was conducted by dividing the students into two groups, namely students who received learning using CPA approach as the experimental group and students who received conventional learning as the control group. Descriptive analysis and inferential analysis results showed that there was an increase of spatial sense in students who learned with CPA approach, which was better than students who received conventional learning. Thus, learning using the CPA approach can improve and develop spatial sense abilities of elementary school students.

This research is motivated by the need for effective mathematical learning models for students with learning difficulties in math at inclusion schools. The formulation of the problem is "How can the learning model that can be used to help the child the difficulty learning math in understanding the concept of numbers?". This research uses Reseach and development method. Research data obtained from the results of student tests and observation of student and teacher interaction. This research produced a model of mathematics learning design for students with learning difficulties. The conclusion is that (1) Mathematics learning model can improve students' understanding about addition and reduction of three numbers, because in general the learning achievement of students before and after learning differ significantly. (2) Learning that takes place more centered on the students (student center), because the student activity is greater than the teacher activity. (3) The use of students' mathematics teaching aids increases from one to two meetings. (4) The students' response to the Mathematics learning model is positive.

Covid-19 changes human habits, especially the learning process. Teaching and learning activities that are usually carried out offline now must be conducted online. The research was motivated by the students' assumptions about mathematics which were considered difficult. Students felt overwhelmed when studying mathematics. When they faced math problems, students often did not have the confidence to solve them. The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in the students’ self-confidence through online learning by using CPA approach during the Covid-19 pandemic, in terms of overall and Initial Mathematical Ability (IMA). This research was a quasi-experimental research with a non-equivalent control group design on Mathematics subjects on the topic of data collection and presentation at fifth-grade elementary schools. The sample consisted of 56 students at one of the elementary schools in Central Jakarta, Indonesia. The research instrument was a self-confidence attitude scale given before and after the treatment. The learning process was conducted online through WhatsApp Group, YouTube, and Google Form. The research findings showed that CPA approach increased students' self-confidence better than conventional learning, both as a whole and IMA. Thus, CPA approach could be used as an alternative to increase student self-confidence during the Covid-19 pandemic.
