Abstract

Background. Anemia is a global nutrition problem, especially in developing countries. Several studied found that around 30 percent of the adolescent was anemia, especially in girls. Compliance with iron-folic acid (IFA) tablet consumption is the most influential factor in the successful improvement of iron status and combat anemia. Objective. This study aimed to know the relationship between compliance of IFA tablet consumption and anemi-related nutrient intake with the anemia among girl-students in Vocational High School in Bekasi City, Indonesia. Method. This study was a cross-sectional study conducted in five vocational high schools, with 345 samples. Samples were collected with a purposive sampling technique. Inclusive criteria for the sample are age between 12 and 18, healthy and able to be a subject, and excluded girls that were fasting and or menstruation. Hemoglobin (Hb) measured with the cyanmethemoglobin method, Hb under 12 g/dl was categorized as anemia. The compliance was assessed with a validated questionnaire and a validated food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) to measure and determine the nutrients intake. Data analyzed by univariate and bivariate. Results. The study found that 30.7 percent of girls were anemia and 48.1 percent as mild anemia (Hb 11–11.9 g/dl). From 74 percent who have not a compliant consumed IFA tablet, 34.3 percent was anemia. Most students have enough intake of protein and other macronutrients. In contrast, the study found more than 60 percent of students have less iron, vitamin C, and vitamin B12. There was no significant relationship among compliance IFA, energy intake, protein intake, fat intake, carbohydrates intake, iron intake, vitamin A intake, vitamin B12 intake, and vitamin C intake with the anemia (p>0.05). Conclusion. There was no relationship between compliance and nutrient intake with anemia. Nevertheless, nutrient intake can be related to anemia as well as compliance with iron tablet consumption. Research suggested that nutrition programs at school should be established, well monitoring, and evaluated.

In general, the problem of waste is related to how to manage waste properly in the community and how to reduce waste generation and utilize all the potential generated. One of the right ways to manage waste from waste generation sources is the waste bank program. This study aims to examine the management system of the Dream Waste Bank and the characteristics of the Dream Waste Bank which is managed in the BCL 5 Housing in Jambi City. Research method with qualitative descriptive. The units analyzed were all residents' houses that became customers, namely 29 households and 8 informants. The results of the study found that the management of the Dream Waste Bank based on PERMEN LH No. 13 of 2012 has taken place as it should based on the standardization of the waste bank, the working mechanism of the waste bank, the advantages of the waste bank system, the implementation of the waste bank system, the stage of utilizing inorganic waste and the development of a waste bank. Meanwhile, the characteristics of the waste bank obtained in the study are the volume of inorganic waste, the composition of inorganic waste that enters the waste bank and the generation/amount of waste collected each month and the reduction in waste generation. Abstract

Abstract

Objective:Thie research aimed to analyze the correlation of animal and vegetable protein’s intake and the irevalence of stunting in the stunting locus village, Bungo Regency, Jambi Province. Method: This study used cross sectional design on 88 respondents. The sampling technique used proportional simple random sampling. The instruments in this study were microtoise and food recall form. Data analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis (chi-square test). Results: The results of this study showed that there was no significant relationship between animal and vegetable protein intake and the incidence of stunting, because it was based on the results of the Chi Square Test animal protein (p-value 1.000) and vegetable protein (p-value 0.631). This means that intake of animal and vegetable protein is not affect the incidence of stunting. Conclusion: there is no significant relationship between intake of animal and vegetable protein and the incidence of stunting because it’s influenced by several factors, such as internal factors (age, physical condition and disease infection) and external factors (income, education, employment, culture, food intake).

Abstract

background:The Indonesian Nutrition Status Study (SSGI) in 2021 showed that Bungo Regency data has a stunted toddler prevalence of 22.9%. Several research results have shown that the problem of stunting in toddlers is related to low protein intake in daily food consumption. On the other hand, Jambi Province has local food sources of protein, especially freshwater fish as an alternative to daily side dishes. This study aims to examine the pattern of protein food consumption in Sungai Mengkuang and Sungai Puri Village as Bungo Regency's stunting locus village. Method: Quantitative methods are used to measure the toddler's pattern of protein food consumption with a food frequency questionnaire and food recall. Result: The results showed that food protein consumption was already contained in children's complementary feeding, but with the number of servings that did not meet the balanced nutrition guidelines (< 100% daily recommendations). Discussion: As many as 63.5% of respondents have received complementary feeding ≥ three times a day. Conclusion: It is necessary to optimize the production, distribution, and consumption of local protein foods as a solution to accelerate reduction of stunting.
