Abstract

Research aims: The purpose of this study was to determine the credit distribution level used as working capital assistance for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) during the COVID-19 pandemic.Design/Methodology/Approach: This study used a sample of 8 cities/regencies in East Java. Meanwhile, the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) credit recipients were the population of the sample areas. This research's analysis model was panel data regression (generalized least square) by considering the emergence of heteroscedasticity in cross-section data between regional objects. The control variables outside the COVID-19 were the BI rate, third-party funds (TPF), and inflation.Research findings: This study’s results showed that the COVID-19 pandemic had a significant negative impact only on medium-sized business loans, while micro and small business loans are more resilient. Besides, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) credit was significantly positively influenced by TPF; inflation did not affect credit; the BI rate only negatively affected medium-sized business credit.Theoretical contribution/Originality: Studies on Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) credit-related to economic phenomena and monetary policy have been widely carried out. However, the catastrophic virus that causes long-term economic uncertainty and impacts banks and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) still requires in-depth study. Also, this study employed the GLS model that considers heteroscedasticity, which is still rarely used in previous studies.Practitioner/Policy implication: This research can be essential information for the Indonesian Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan or OJK) and Bank Indonesia (BI) in policymaking, both regulatory aspects and bank liquidity provision, in stimulating Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) credit, especially in the COVID-19 pandemic era.Research limitation/implication: The impact of COVID-19 on Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) loans is still classified based on micro, small and medium. It is still not grouped based on the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) business sector in various cities and regencies in East Java. The analysis has not been clustered based on the spatial concentration of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) recipient areas.

Abstract

A control of the inflation rate caused by the fluctuations in foreign exchange reserves, money supply, and exchange rate is required to create the stability of the country's economy. This study aims to analyze the dynamic impact of disturbance factors contained in the variables of foreign exchange reserves, the money supply, and the exchange rate. This research used monthly data from June 2009 to November 2016. It used a method used of Vector Autoregression. The result shows that a foreign exchange reserve has a negative relationship nut not significant effect on inflation, money supply has positive relationship and significant effect on inflation, and exchange rate of rupiah to US dollar has negative relationship and significant effect on inflation. The responce of inflation from shocking occurs to supply, foreign exchange reserves and exchange rate tend to be convergent and the biggest contribution that influences inflation the most is exchange rate beside inflation itself.

Abstract

The study aims to analyze the effect of profitability, size, and capital on the credit risk of Islamic banks in Asian countries through the mediating variable of financing by path regression analysis. Data were obtained quarterly from 2015Q1 – 2020Q3. Method of the study usedcausal research design, namely research that has the main objective of proving a a relationship affecting and being influenced by the variables studied. The findings conclude that size and profitability significantly affect credit risk through the financing mediation variable.  Capital does not significantly reduce credit risk because it only functions to mediate financing. Meanwhile, increased financing will also increase the credit risk of Islamic banks in the Asian Region. The study can explain why there is an inconsistency of the effect profitability, size, capital, on credit risk because there is a financing mediation role. The implication of policy that the Islamic bankers in Asian countries must more prudent to manage financing so that credit risk is controlled.

Abstract

The number of employment that has been filled and depicted from the number of people who work can be interpreted as the absorption of labor. The purpose of this study is to know and compare the influence of medium and large industry, minimum wage and economic growth on labor absorption of processing industry sector in Sidoarjo and Pasuruan regency. The tool used in this research is multiple linear regression with time series data. The results of this study indicate that the test together (F test), where Fcount> Ftabel that is equal to 679.4531> 3.59 for Pasuruan and 27.85815> 3.59 for Sidoarjo regency which means Pasuruan Regency significantly more significant than Sidoarjo regency. Individually in both districts, the result of Amount of Medium and Large Industries has positive and significant effect on Labor Absorption, Minimum Wage has negative and significant effect on Labor Absorption, and Economic Growth has positive and significant impact on Labor Absorption. Keywords: Employment Absorption, Amount of Unit Industry, Minimum Wage, and Economic Growth

Abstract

This study examines the stock returns of 14  food and beverage companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2017. The sampling technique used purposive sampling sample has certain criteria. The analysis tools multiple linear regression using panel data. In equation model, the stock return is the dependent variable, while the inflation rate and economic growth is the independent variable. The research results showed that simultaneously (Test F) all independent variables affect the dependent variable with a significant value of 0.0000. While partially (T-Test), independent variable X1 has a negative and significant influence on the dependent variable Y. While X2 has a negative and significant influence on the dependent variable Y. While X3 has, a negative and significant influence on the dependent variable Y. Determination Coefficient (R2) from the regression results of 0.212113 showed the ability of independent variables has explained the change of dependent variable of 21.21%,  while the rest of 78.79% has explained by other variables outside fro this research.

Abstract

Foreign exchange reserves are a transaction tool in international trade, a tool to maintain monetary stability (especially exchange rates), a tool to pay off government foreign debt, and also a savings owned by the state. The purpose of this study is to analyze in the short and long term the influence of the exchange rate, BI rate, gross domestic product, and economic crisis on foreign exchange reserves both partially and simultaneously. In conducting this research, researchers used error correction model which included stationary test, cointegration test, short-term regression test, classic assumption test, long-term regression test, and determination coefficient test. Partial test results both in the short and long term can be seen that the exchange rate has a significant and negative effect on foreign exchange reserves, in the short term the BI rate does not have a significant effect and has a negative relationship to foreign exchange reserves and in the long run the BI rate has no effect significant and positively related to foreign exchange reserves, gross domestic product has a significant and positive impact on foreign exchange reserves both in the short and long term, and the economic crisis has a significant and positive impact on foreign exchange reserves both in the short and long term. Keywords : economic crisis, exchange rates, foreign exchange reserves, interest rates, gross domestic product
