Abstract

This study aimed to examine the implementation of the School Literacy Movement (SLM) by observing its impacts toward the scientific literacy, characters, and HOTS of Grade VII Junior High School (JHS) students in Pekanbaru within the context of K-13. The survey was conducted with 45 natural science teachers on the basis that they have integrated K-13 into their teaching and learning. The data of SLM implementation was obtained from the teacher by means of questionnaires and observation which was conducted in science classes in three JHS in pollution and global warming topics. The results showed that 49.13% of activities were successfully implemented by SLM. The results showed that students’ scientific literacy in the three schools were 69.5%, 76.3%, and 75.2%. Meanwhile, the character values have reached 80.6%, 76.4%, 72.9%, and students’ HOTS values were 73.0%, 72.5%, and 73.3%. Based on the survey, it can be concluded that although the school has pioneered SLM, the strengthening of scientific literacy, characters, and HOTS has not been executed by all teachers who implement K-13 due to various obstacles need new policies to assess the execution of the SLM program by the local education department.

Abstract

This aims to explorestudents’ motivation and scientific attitudes using the learning model of STCthrough the natural environment exploration approach inSenior High School 1, Kampar. It is an action research which was conducted from April to June 2018. Participants of this research were 34 students of the tenth grade,Mathematics and Natural Science students, odd semester, comprising 8 males and 26 females. The parameters of this research were motivation and attitudes. The result of this study demonstrates that the motivation and attitudes towards science have significant improvements. It shows that the student’s learning motivation has improved from 6,41% in the first cycle to 10,56% in the second cycle. At the average, in the first cycle, the score of scientific attitudes was 3,58 (category A- (B). In the second cycle, it had increased to 3,90 which was categorized into A. Based on the result of this study, it can be concluded that the application of the learning model of STCusing the natural environment exploration strategy is effective to improve the motivation and positive attitudes towards science of the tenth grade students ofMathematics and Natural Science, State Senior High School 1, Kampar.

Abstract

Abstract : Hypertriglyceride is a condition characterized by a triglyceride level above the normal threshold. High triglyceride levels cause disruption to the circulatory system. This study aims to determine the effect of Dayak bulb extract (Eleutherine americana Merr.) On the decrease of blood triglyceride in white male rats Wistar strain. This research is included in the correct experiment with the Post Only Control Group Design design. The results showed that the negative control group (K1) had the highest triglyceride levels with the other group (119.75 ± 21.36 mg / dL); the positive control group (K0) with triglyceride levels (104.33 ± 5.68 mg / dL) was higher than the dayak dose group 100 mg / KgBB (P1) and day dose of 200 mg / KgBB P2 . The P2 group had a triglyceride level of (58.5 ± 13.32 mg / dL) lower than the P1 group (64 ± 27.14 mg / dL). The results of statistical tests with Anova one way showed that there were significant differences between treatment groups (p = 0,002). It was concluded that administration of Dayak bulb extract had an effect on the decrease of blood triglyceride in Wistar white male rats.Key Words: Hypercholesterolemia; Onion Dayak (Eleutherine americana Merr.); Triglycerids;and Wistar rats

Abstract

Abstract : The purpose of this research is to produce student worksheets (LKPD) based scientific approach and thinking critical ability on the KD 3.14 subject body defense system grade XI High School. This development research was conducted at the Laboratory of Biological Education Department of PMIPA Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Universitas Riau and SMAN 14 Pekanbaru. This research was conducted from March to June 2018. The type of research used in this development research refers to the Research and Development (R & D) research approach using the ADDIE model consisting of five stages, namely analyze, design, development, implement and evaluate. This research is only done until development stage. The instrument used is validation sheet and questionnaire of respondent. Furthermore, limited trials were conducted to 13 students of Biology education and 25 students of class XI SMAN 14 Pekanbaru. Research data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. The results of LKPD validation are based on a scientific approach and critical thinking skills for the material of the body's defense system seen from 3 aspects: design aspects, pedagogic aspects, and content aspects. The value of LKPD validity is based on a scientific approach and critical thinking skills in the design aspect, with a score of 3.89 valid categories, the validity value of pedagogic aspects, with a score of 3.91 valid categories, while the validity value in the feasibility aspect is filled with a score of 3.95 valid categories. Student responses on all aspects are categorized both with score 4.19 and the response of learners on all aspects are categorized very well with score 4.32. The results of the answer analysis on trial II show the average value of 89 with very good category. LKPD based on a scientific approach to the material of the body's defense system can increase understanding and knowledge about the body's defense system and can improve students' critical thinking skills.Keywords: Development, LKPD, Scientific Approach, Critical Thinking, Body’s Defense System

Abstract

Abstarct: Has do reasearch to describe effect use Guided Inquiry Learning varied with Mind Mapping for sciencetific literacy and learning result of the 7th grade students of Junior High School 17 Pekanbaru. Form of research is a pre-experiment design research with pretest-posttest one group design. This research was conducted on August up to October 2018. The sample selected with purposive sampling technique, VII.1 class with 37 students. The results showed that category improvement of student’s sciencetific literacy and learning result in experiment class after use Guided Inquiry Learning varied with Mind Mapping are respectively (N-gain=0,61) and (N-gain=0,59) was medium category. According to study results, it could be concluded that: 1) use Guided Inquiry Learning varied with Mind Mapping are effected for students sciencetific literacy 2) use Guided Inquiry Learning varied with Mind Mapping are effected for learning result of the 7th grade students of Junior High School 17 Pekanbaru.Key Words: Guided Inquiry Learning, Mind Mapping, Sciencetific Literacy

Abstract

Abstract: The study was conducted in classes VII 4 SMP 03 Teluk Kuantan school year to determine the increase learning outcomes of students by implementing guided inquiry learning model. This research is a classroom action research conducted in two cycles of planning, execution and observation and reflection. The data collected in this study is the learning outcomes that emphasizes on three areas, namely knowledge, attitudes and skills. Data were collected using tests and observation sheet. The results showed learning outcomes in every sphere has increased. The cognitive value seen from the results of daily tests on the first cycle that 84,80 (B) is increased in the second cycle is 94,23 (A). Students who complete the first cycle of 19 students (73,07%) and increased in the second cycle is 26 (100%). On average of attitudes value in the first cycle, namely 70,34 (D) and increased in the second cycle 81,60 (C). Average of skills value in the first cycle, namely 70,16 (C) and increased in the second cycle is 86,40 (B). It can be concluded that the application of guided inquiry learning model can improve learning outcomes class VII 4 SMP 03 Teluk Kuantan in the academic year 2018/2019.Key Words: Model of Guided Inquiry, Learning Outcomes

Abstract

Abstract: Experimental research had been conducted to improve science learning motivation of class VII4 students of JHS 17 Pekanbaru by using model guided inquiry using mind mapping. This pre-experimental design study was conducted in September-October 2018 with a study population of all students in class VII4 of JHS 17 Pekanbaru and a sample of students of class VII4, amounting to 37 people. The parameters in this study are science learning motivation consists of 4 indicators namely, Attention, Relevance, Confidence and Satisfaction. The results of this study indicate that treatment in the experimental class has an effect on increasing science learning motivation of class VII4 students showed: 1)Attention, student motivation experienced an increase in initial and final motivation of 2.43(low) to 3.24(moderate) with N-gain 0.51(medium. 2)Relevance, students' motivation experienced an increase in initial and final motivation which was 2.50(low) to 3.50(moderate) with N-gain 0.66(moderate). 3)Confidence, student motivation experienced an increase in initial and final motivation of 2.10(low) to 3.10(moderate) with N-gain 0.50 (moderate). 4)Satisfaction, motivation of students experiencing an increase in initial and final motivation, namely 2.30(moderate) to 3.60(moderate) with N-gain of 0.76(high). Based on the analysis of the average value of all the initial motivational indicators of 2.35(low) there was an increase in the average value of all indicators at the final motivation of 3.36 with N-gain of 0.60(moderate).It can be concluded that the application of the model guided inquiry using mind mapping has the effect of increasing the learning motivation of science students of class VII4 of JHS 17 Pekanbaru.Key Words: Guided Inquiry, Mind Mapping, Motivation

Abstract

Abstract: There have been studies to determine the application of the learning model of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) to the scientific attitude of students in learning biology class XI IPA SMAN 4 Pekanbaru in Academic Year 2013/2014. Research was conducted in May 2014 with a sample of students of class XI IPA 1 (control class) by the number of students 33 and XI IPA 4 (experiment class) by the number of students 32. The parameters used in the study of critical attitude, honest, open, conscientious and earnest. Collecting data using a scientific attitude observation sheet. Average scientific attitude in the experimental class was 84.39% in both categories, while the control class with 40.69% less category. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that there are differences between the scientific attitude of students using the experimental class learning model PBL in the learning process in comparison with the control class learning using lecture and discussion.Key words: scientific attitudes, high school senior, problem-based learning

Abstract

Abstract : Changes in environment and human activities now is one of the causes of water pollution in various waters such as rivers, lakes, reservoirs and at sea. This study aims to determine the quality of Rangau River waters based on the plankton community indicator. The study was conducted in October 2017 - January 2018 along the Rangau River and was identified in the FKIP Biology laboratory of the University of Riau. The results of the study were integrated to design the handouts. Determination of research station purpose random sampling by setting 8 stations and 3 random sampling. Biological parameters observed were species composition, abundance, fairness index, species richness index, dominance index, and diversity index. Physical-chemical parameters measured are temperature, pH, brightness, current strength, DO, CO, BOD and COD. Data were analyzed descriptively. Based on soil analysis obtained composition type fitoplankton consists of 19 species and composition of type zooplankton consist of 4 species. The result of the analysis of phytoplankton abundance value is quite high compared to zooplankton. Based on the phytoplankton diversity index, the waters quality of Rangau River is classified as mild-moderate. While the index of zooplankton diversity shows the quality waters of the Rangau River classified as medium-heavy. And the result of measurement of physical chemistry factor of water exceeds quality standard with water quality criterion based on BOD, Rangau River classified as mild. Result of research of Rangau River water quality is used as material of material handout design of environmental change precisely water pollution.Keywords: Plankton, river water quality, physic-chemical water factor, handout.

Abstract

Abstract: This research aimed to improve scientific literacy of student class XI MIA 2 SMAN 1 Pekanbaru by implementation guided inquiry model. It had been done in SMAN 1 Pekanbaru on March of May 2019. Parameters measure were student’s scientific literacy competencies, scientific literacy knowledge, student’s achievement, and scientific literacy attitudes. The type of this research was classroom action research by implementation guided inquiry model. It had been done in two cylce. There were planning step, acting step, observation step and reflection step for each cycle. The research instrument used was a learning device that consist of a lesson plan, syllabus, assesment authentic sheet, observation sheet and scientific literacy competencies skill sheet. The collected data was analysed descriptively. The result of this research showed that scientific literacy competencies on first cycle was 81,89 (C) and increased on second cycle up to 86,80 (B). The result of this research showed that scientific literacy knowledges on first cycle was 79,97 (C) and increased on second cycle up to 88,01 (B). Student’achievement on first cycle was 80,09 (B) and increased on second cycle up to 85,46 (B). Classical completeness percentage on first cycle was 88,89% and increased on second cycle up to 100%. Student’s scientific literacy attitudes on first cycle was 80,77 (C) and increased on second cycle up to 89,18 (B). It can be conclude that guided inquiry model can improve scientific literacy of student class XI MIA 2 SMAN 1 Pekanbaru.Key Words: Guided Inquiry, Scientific Literacy, Biology Lesson
