Abstract

Kenerak (Goniothalamus umbrosus) is one species from genus of Goniothalamus and becomes sources ofimportant traditional medicines among local people in Southeast Asia.Goniothalamus plants areconsidered to have great sources of pharmaceuthecial substances. The goniothalamine has a function bothas an anti breast cancer agent and as an abortive agent for early pregnancy. Based on this the preliminarystudies was carried out on germination rapids of kenerak using seed explants showed that best result forgermination rapids on MS A4 (0,5 mg/l 2,4-D) medium after 3-8 weeks culture and totals germination onE6 (2,0 mg/l 2,4-D + 0,5 mg/l BAP) medium 80%. Compered convensional methods is very long timeabout 6-12 moons. In vitro technique can be used for overcoming dormancy seeds of kenerak.Key words: Kenerak, 2,4-D, BAP, Seed .

Abstract

A research on callus induction of kenerak (Goniothalamus umbrosus) from seed, leaf, stem and root explant wasconducted. Results showed that, seeds explant is the best on callus initiation using MS D10 (5,0 mg/l 2,4-D + 0,1 mg/lBAP) medium after 24 weeks cultured in light. However, mosf of all explants from leaves, stem and root formed callus onMS E8 ((3,0 mg/l 2,4-D + 0,5 mg/l BAP) and E10 ((5,0 mg/l 2,4-D + 0,5 mg/l BAP) medium after 2-6 weeks cultured inlight, respectively. Meanwhile for optimum callus proliferation, the suggessted medium was MS E10 ((5,0 mg/l 2,4-D +0,5 mg/l BAP).Therefore, in vitro technique can be used to produce callus of kenerak.

Abstract

Abstract: The aim of this research was to develop discovery learning-oriented student worksheets to improve students’ creative thinking skills in biotechnology topic on grade XII shs. The research held on December 2014 until March 2015. The research used Research and Development with ADDIE model as the method. Development was held in laboratory of Biology Education Riau University and limited trial was held in MAN 2 Model Pekanbaru.Validation sheet, respondent sheet and observation sheet of creative thinking skills were used as data collecting instruments. Validation sheet consist of 18 items and 4 aspects, there are didactic, construction, technique and creative thinking skills. The results of the validation of experts obtained the following data: didactic 3.43 (very valid), construction 3.62 (very valid), technique 3.75 (very valid) and creative thinking skills 3.69 (very valid). Discovery learning oriented worksheets that have been developed potentially to improve student’s creative thinking skills on biotechnology topic for grade XII shs. Worksheets need to be continued until implementation and evaluation steps to make sure the quality of worksheet product developed. Abstract

Abstract: The research was to determine utilization of organic waste with starter fluid cow rumen raw material for biogas production in March and May 2015. Results of the study are used to enrich the teaching materials in the form of  biology modules vocational school Agriculture on the concept of waste management. This research was carried out by two phases: experimentation and enrichment modules. Research conducted experiments using completely randomized design (CRD) non factorial, which consists of 4 treatments and 3 replicates in order to obtain 12 experimental design. If there is a real test there will be a further test Duncans Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at 5%. The parameters observed biogas volume, the color of the flame, calor and power. Enrichment module is performed on the stage of analysis and design. The results showed that the use of organic waste with starter fluid cow rumen could potentially produce methane gas as a source of biogas. Treatment A (25% substrate: 75% starter) are best produce biogas with a biogas volume of 11.57 L, color blue flames, calorific value 5670 J and power 132.98 watts for 28 days of fermentation. The results could be used as an module enrichment for biological  subjects Agriculture  vocational school on the concept of waste management. Keywords: Module, Organic Waste, Fluid Cow Rumen, Biogas.

Abstract

Abstract: There have been experimental studies to examine the use of oil palm fronds waste to raw material for charcoal briquettes and the results of this study can be used as an enrichment of teaching materials in the form of vocational biology modules on the subject of the utilization of waste. This study was conducted from March to June 2015. The method used in this study is an experiment using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments performed 5 times repeat the treatment given is as follows (1) Charcoal oil palm fronds non sieve (B0), (2) Charcoal midrib palm oil is refined by sieve size of 30 mesh (B1), (3) Charcoal palm fronds were mashed with a 50-mesh sieve (B2), (4) Charcoal palm fronds were smoothed with a sieve size of 70 mesh (B3). Parameter studies that measured the water content, ash content, levels of substance evaporates, the density and firmness press. Treatment with a 70 mesh sieve (B3) to be most successful for the manufacture of charcoal briquettes compared to the treatment of non sieve (B0), treatment with 30 mesh sieve (B1) and treated with a 50 mesh sieve (B2). Treatment with a 70 mesh sieve (B3) produces 8% moisture content, ash content of 8.4%, 14.8% levels of substance evaporates, the density of 0.94 g/cm3, and firmness press 61.80 g/cm3. The results could be used as an enrichment module for vocational subjects Biology Class XI. This study is expected to continue at the stage of implementation and evaluation of the ADDIE model of instructional development. Keywords: Enrichment Module, Waste Utilization, oil palm fronds, Charcoal Briquettes

Abstract

Abstrack:The research was conducted to determine the effect of bio-activator EM-4 and Boisca in the manufacture of liquid organic fertilizer. This research was conducted from March to June 2015. The results are used for the development of LKM (StudentsWorksheet ) on the concept of environmental biotechnology. This study consisted of two phases: the manufacture of Liquid Organic Fertilizer and stage of development of LKM. Phase manufacture of Liquid Organic Fertilizer use research "True-Experimental Research" with completely randomized design (RAL), which consists of 4 treatments and 3 replications. While LKM refers to the development stage of research approaches Research and Development (R & D) by using ADDIE models developed from the research of liquid organic fertilizer. Parameters of this study is ratio C / N, Elements N, P and K, temperature and pH. The data obtained and analyzed statistically using analysis of variance. If significantly different continued with Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at significance level of 5%. LKM development while data obtained from the validation sheet is validated by 3 validator and analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the application of bio-activator EM-4 and Boisca affect the outcome of liquid organic fertilizer where the best treatment being owned by a treatment with a combination of EM-4 and Boisca. Results of the study was developed as LKM (StudentsWorksheet) is the composting material on the concept of environmental biotechnology. Abstract

Abstrak: This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of the addition of the cow rumen fluid content of organic waste in producing biogas as a handout biotechnology development in the field of animal husbandry in the high school class XII., The study was conducted in March-April 2015. This research was carried out by two phases: biogas production using experimental research and development stage handout. Experimental study was conducted using completely randomized design (CRD), which consists of 4 treatments and 3 replicates in order to obtain 12 experimental design. If there is a difference between treatments meal test Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at 5%. The parameters observed biogas volume, pH, temperature and flame. The addition of the cow rumen fluid content of 250 ml best produce biogas. Where produce biogas volume as much as 447.68 cm³, pH 6, the temperature of 35ºC and produce a blue flame. Results of the study was developed as a handout that the material application of biotechnology in the field of animal husbandry. Abstract: Tempeh is alimentary one be resulted through simple ferment tech by Rhizopus sp . All this time tempeh what do be at marketing just that gets soybean raw product. While many moke production the last years at Indonesian continually decreases and can't meet the need. Therefore, need developed tempeh's makings that utilize materials any other that appreciative its nutrient doesn't succumb good with tempeh of moke as adzuki bean, mung bean and peanut. To the effect of observational it is subject to be know good bean type deep tempeh's makings and this research result gets to be utilized for LKS SMA'S development Bioteknologi Conventional material. This research comprise of 2 phases, which is first phase, tempeh's makings whereas phase both of, LKS'S development of research result. tempeh's makings research this utilize experiment research with RAL that consisting of 4 conducts and 3 dry runs. Observational result to be gotten that conclusion is sighted from water rate content, ash rate, protein rate and fat rate and organoleptik, soybean and adzuki bean is good bean deep tempe's makings. Soybean has to titrate water 54,30%, ash rate 0,21%, protein rate 17,57% and fat rate 0,72%. Meanwhile adzuki bean has to titrate water 60,23%, ash rate 0,31%, protein rate 17,85% and fat rate 0,62%. Abstract

Abstract: The aims of this research to determine the effect of the hormone 2,4-D and BAP on callus growth Kasturi Orange (Citrus microcarpa) and designing relevant teaching materials on the concept of Modern Biotechnology tissue culture for high school students. This research consisted of two phases. The first phase of that research using experimental method completely randomized design factorial. Parameters observed is percentage of explants, while appearing callus, callus width and texture of the callus. Research results and a growing percentage of the width callus explants were analyzed by ANOVA and a further test DMRT at 5% level, when it appears callus and callus texture done by descriptively. Phase II this research is a handout development stages of learning that comes from the results on the first phase research using ADDIE development model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) simplified to the stage Analyze,Design, and Developmet and then will validation with 5 category. The result shows that a combination of hormones D4B1 and D4B2 produces a callus emerged fastest of 3.3 HSK. The highest percentage of callus formation that is 100% contained in the treatment of D2B0, D2B0.5 - D4B0. The mean width of callus was highest in treatment D4B2 with a width of 0.97cm. Embryogenic callus resulting by treatment of D2B1, D2B2 ,and D3B0. The results of reseach can be used as teaching material in the form of handouts of Biology subjects at the concept of Modern Biotechnology in high school with value of 4 categories validity valid.   Keywords: Hormones, Callus, Orange Kasturi, Handout,

Abstract

Abstract: Tempe is the food produced by simple fermentation technique by Rhizopus oligosporus. During tempeh on the market are made from only soybeans. While the last few years soybean production in Indonesia is decreasing and can not meet demand. Therefore, it is necessary to develop the manufacture of tempeh use other raw materials nutritional value is not lost either with tempeh from soy such as rubber seed (Havea bransiliensis) The purpose of this study was to determine the good treatment in the manufacture of tempeh and results of this study can be used for the development of LKS High School Biotechnology Conventional materials. This study consisted of two stages: the first stage, while the second phase of making tempe LKS development of research results. Research making tempe using the experimental method completely randomized design (CRD), which consists of 5 treatments and 3 ulangan.Hasil research it was concluded that in terms of content, protein content and levels of cyanide as well as organoleptic, treatment K4 is a good time in the making tempe. In the treatment K4memiliki protein content of 16.59%, cyanide levels at 0.0004% with perendama time of 24 hours and boiling for 120 minutes. The results of the research can be developed as a matter of Biotechnology Conventional LKS High School.Keywords: Keywords: tempe, rubber seed, conventional biotechnology, LKS
