Abstract

This study aims to identify factors that influence nurse compliance and find the best solution to improve adherence to oral hygiene. The research method begins with searching scientific articles in 4 databases, namely PubMed, Wiley, science direct, and google scholar. The results of the study of 7 included articles, 42.85% (3 pieces) stated that nurses' knowledge and perceptions were the main factors that influenced nurse compliance, and 14.3% (1 article) indicated that service practices/facilities affected adherence. Other factors were found including; limited time, motivation, nurse workload, unavailability of oral hygiene procedures, and lack of interprofessional collaboration, so the best solution is to increase the knowledge and competence of nurses with training, workshops, and monitoring systems in the implementation of the VAP bundle. In conclusion, nurses' knowledge and perceptions are the main factors that affect nurse compliance in performing oral hygiene, so increasing knowledge and competence is the best solution as a joint effort to reduce the incidence of VAP. Abstract

Background :One of the microvascular complications of Diabetes Mellitus (DM) causes loss of sensation in the peripheral area, especially the legs. If the loss of sensation not detected earlier, it will be at risk for foot injury. The method that has been studied requires special tools, used by trained personnel and expensive cost. Therefore, the purpose of this literature review was to find simple test that can be used by the community, easy, effective and inexpensive for detecting the neuropathy. Methode : the Data was being searched since 2013 to 2018 used 3 data bases (Pubmed, ScienceDirect, Google scholar) which published internationally and in English. Result :There were 10 articles used in this literature review. There were four tests to detect diabetic neuropathy. SUDOSCAN is a test that does not require special preparation and can be used by people who are not trained, it takes 2 minutes. NEUROPAD can be done by non-professional staff, the patient feels comfortable during the test and it takes 10 minutes. NerveCheck takes 9 minutes to 13 minutes and is easy to use. The simplest test is Ipswich Touch Test (IpTT), non-professionals can do this easily, fast (1-2 seconds), and without requiring fees. Conclusions: Ipswich Touch Test (IpTT) is an easy test, effective, does not require tools and it can be used by the general public. IpTT can be used to detect neuropathy in hospitals and homes.

Abstract

Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DFU) is one of the complications that cause big problems in diabetics. One of the management of DFU management is by utilizing hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) which is an additional therapy that has been proven to be used in the treatment of DFU. However, the results of its benefits and use are still being debated, so the purpose of this review is to evaluate the effectiveness of HBOT on healing diabetic foot wounds. The method of this research is to use a literature review design. By using three international databases, namely PubMed, Science Direct, and Ebscohost, six articles were included. The results of the review explained that from six articles conducted by the literature review, it was reported that hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) can accelerate the healing process of diabetic foot wounds (DFU), by reducing wound size, lowering levels of C-reactive protein (CRP) and white blood cells (WBC)), induces angiogenesis of EGF, VEGF, PDGF, FGF-2 and CXCL10 and changes serum interleukin 6 (IL-6) and VEGF levels to be greater. Conclusion (HBOT) is an appropriate adjunct therapy, which can provide effectiveness in the treatment of DFU by accelerating the healing of DFU and preventing further infection in DFU, so as to reduce the risk of amputation.

Abstract

Introduction: Approximately 1.75 to 3.5 million patients in the hospital get nosocomial infection each year. Patients in ICU that mechanically installed ventilators is unable to meet the needs of self-care, bathing. Bathing with Disposable bed baths (DBB) method using disposable bath wash lap can reduce the time in bathing and eliminating the use of bath basin that proved as a reservoir for bacteria and can transmit infection in hospital. This study aims to compare the duration, cost and differences in the number of microorganisms between traditional bathing and using Disposable Bed Baths. Method: The literature search used four databases: Pubmed, ProQuest, Science Direct, and Google Scholar by including traditional bathing keywords, Disposable bed baths, with year-end published in 2011 to 2017. This study obtained 34 articles with exclusions 22 articles. Result: Articles that are relevant to the topic are 12 (2 systematic review, 1 descriptive study, 5 randomized controlled trials, 4 case study). Setting of patient research in ICU and having elderly patient. Some research finds that both bathing methods can reduce the number of microorganisms in the skin, traditional bathing can cause dry skin. In terms of cost and bathing duration, bathing methods with disposable bed baths better than traditional bathing methods. Conclusions: There is little research on the comparison of traditional bathing and disposable bed baths in relation to cost, duration and number of microorganisms, especially patients treated in the ICU. Key words : traditional bathing, disposable bed baths, ICU
