Abstract

This study aims to describe parents’ acceptance of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in Pontianak City. The research method used is descriptive with a cross-sectional approach. The research instruments used were the Parental Acceptance-Rejection Questionnaire (PARQ) and the Demographic Data Questionnaire. The respondents who participated in this study were 40 parents, consisting of 16 fathers and 24 mothers. A total of 18 (45 percent) parents accepted, and 22 (55 percent) refused. Most of the respondents were in the category of early middle age (65 percent), married (92 percent), high school graduates (50 percent), housewives/not working (35 percent), and high and very high income (35 percent). The characteristics of parents who accept their child’s condition are early middle age adults, married, high school graduates, housewives/not working, and have moderate-income levels, while the characteristics of parents who refuse are the same as those who accept but have high-income levels. The process of accepting parents who have children with ASD is not easy. Fathers and mothers have different acceptance of children with ASD. Therefore, it is important to know parents’ acceptance of children with ASD starting from the child’s initial diagnosis so that it can help parents make decisions regarding the treatment of children with ASD.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the description of mindset and self-regulated learning and the correlation between the two. This study used an associative quantitative research method with quota sampling, and 590 college students in Malang City were involved. The instruments used in this study were: (1) a mindset scale (validity score of 0.343–0.704; reliability score of 0.859); and (2) a self-regulated learning scale (validity score of 0.373–0.752; reliability score of 0.865). The results of the descriptive analysis showed that out of 590 college students, 57.79 percent had a strong growth mindset, and 67.62 percent had self-regulated learning in the high category. The hypothesis test obtained a correlation coefficient of 0.593 with a significance value of 0.000, meaning a significant positive correlation exists between mindset and self-regulated learning in college students. Based on these results, it is suggested that college students can improve self-regulated learning by increasing their growth mindset. Future studies can use different research methods, such as experiments or qualitative, to learn more about mindset and self-regulated learning.

Abstract

The world is changing, and the changes are affecting organizations to adapt to the changing as well. However, not all the change initiative programs will succeed due to employees’ lack of commitment to change. The study aims to identify the role of psychological empowerment and change self-efficacy as mediators between change leadership and affective commitment to change. This study surveyed four NGOs with 113 respondents. Data was collected using four types of questionnaires: affective commitment to change, change leadership, change self-efficacy, organizational change, and psychological empowerment. Results showed that change leadership had affected affective commitment to change directly through self-efficacy as a mediator. In the meantime, psychological empowerment could not mediate change leadership and affective commitment to change, as psychological empowerment did not significantly influence affective commitment to change, which can be said that change self-efficacy is more significant than psychological empowerment in terms of affective commitment to change. Results were beneficial for organizations and management to prepare the change initiative effectively in times of organizational change. In this regard, preparing a leader to become an effective change leader is needed to develop an affective commitment to the change of the employees.

Abstract

The use of media affects how college students interact with lecturers, including the tendency of students to be more active in the learning process. The purpose of this research is to find out whether there is a relationship between the type of media and the online disinhibition effect in the online lecture process. Data were obtained from 616 respondents who filled out online questionnaires and used Kendall’s tau analysis to test the research questions. The results of the analysis showed that there was no significant relationship between the type of media and the level of online disinhibition effect (rτ equals .02, p equals .56). This is because the closeness of the interaction in the online class that occurs is able to match the interaction in the offline class and everyone in the class already knows each other, so that whatever media used is not related to the level of online disinhibition effect.

Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, parents of students who carried out online learning were prone to experiencing low psychological well-being. Resilience is considered essential in mediating the relationship between religiosity and social support with psychological well-being. However, this role has yet to be tested empirically. This study examines the role of resilience as a mediator of the relationship between religiosity and social support with the psychological well-being of parents of students who carry out online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research respondents totalled 281 parents living in the ex-Karesidenan Surakarta using the accidental sampling technique. Data analysis in this study used a simple mediation analysis with PROCESS macro analysis assisted by the SPSS v22.0 data analysis program. The study’s results prove that resilience mediates religiosity, social support, and psychological well-being. The mediation role of resilience is partial. The results of this study can be the basis for creating programs to improve the psychological well-being of parents through increased resilience, religiosity and social support.
