Abstract

This study aims to find out what misconceptions are experienced by students in mathematics material for class VII SMP and to find out what factors cause students' misconceptions in mathematics material for class VII SMP. This type of research is qualitative research using a descriptive method. The research subjects in this study were 8 students of class VII B students of SMPN 46 Makassar with data collection techniques consisting of three tier-test diagnostic tests, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques in this study consisted of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicate that based on the results of the Three Tier-Test given to class VII B students, it was identified that students experienced misconceptions in algebraic material with the categories of misconceptions and misconceptions (false positive). The majority of misconceptions occur in all algebraic materials, namely: algebraic concepts, algebraic elements, addition operations, subtraction operations, multiplication operations, and division operations. In addition, it was also found that the factors causing the misconceptions of class VII B students of SMPN 54 Makassar, namely the lack of students' ability to understand algebraic concepts in-depth, lack of interest in learning specifically for algebra students, the method often used by teachers, namely the lecture’s method, these making students difficult to understand algebraic material and pre-algebraic concepts.

Abstract

Through the online learning system that has been implemented, many problems arise. The online teaching and learning process causes students to feel bored while learning and does not fully convey the material to students. The purpose of this study was to determine the process of developing E-LKPD which was made by the author of the book. This research is a research and development (R&D) research using the DDD-E model (Decide, Design, Develop, and Evaluate). Sources of data in this study were three teachers and students. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire distributed to teachers and students. E-LKPD was developed by fulfilling the valid, practical, and effective criteria. E-LKPD is declared valid with an average result of 88% with very feasible criteria. E-LKPD is declared practical with an average result of 88% with very good criteria. E-LKPD is declared effective with an average result of 94% with very good criteria. It is concluded that the E-LKPD is very suitable for use for elementary school students and is able to increase understanding and motivation to learn fractional arithmetic operations.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine how big the contribution of mathematical disposition and metacognition to students' mathematics learning outcomes is. The approach used is quantitative. The research type is ex-post-facto. The populations were all eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Sungguminasa, Gowa Regency with a total sample of 105 students who were taken using the cluster random sampling technique. Collecting data using a questionnaire instrument and a test of mathematics learning outcomes. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis and inferential analysis (linear regression analysis). The conclusion of this research is: (1) the contribution of mathematical disposition of 0.4% to learning outcomes while the other 99.6% were other variables not examined; (2) the contribution of 4.6% metacognition on learning outcomes while the other 95.4% are other variables that are not studied at; (3) the contribution of mathematical disposition and metacognition simultaneously was 5.1% on students' mathematics learning outcomes while the other 94.9% were other variables not examined; (4) mathematical disposition has a positive influence on the mathematics learning outcomes of class VIII students; (5) metacognition has a positive effect on students' mathematics learning outcomes which can be seen in the equation Y=0.071X1+0.216X2+0.97 which illustrates that an increase in one unit of Y will increase X1 by 0.071 and X2 by 0.216.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the description of students' perceptions regarding online learning via lentera, as well as the learning motivation of students majoring in mathematics education, and to find out whether there is an effect of student perceptions regarding online learning via lentera on students' learning motivation majoring in mathematics education. This type of research is ex-post facto. The population in this study were students of the Mathematics Education Department of UIN Alauddin Makassar class 2018, 2019, and 2020 with a total of 251 students and a sample of 154 students. The instruments used in this research are questionnaires and documentation. The analytical technique used is descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis with hypothesis testing using a simple linear regression formula. The results of the study indicate that there is an influence of student perceptions regarding online learning via lentera on the learning motivation of students majoring in mathematics education. Based on the results of data analysis using descriptive statistics for student perceptions related to online learning via lantern (X), the average score of 54.02 is in the medium category, while for the learning motivation of students majoring in mathematics education (Y) an average value of 48.47 is obtained are in the medium category.

Abstract

The measure of spread is one of the concepts in Statistics that students find complicated. We have to use a specific formula or concept for a specific situation or contextual problem. As a result, people or students sometimes made mistakes or errors in solving statistics problems. Therefore, research to investigate errors made in solving problems involving a measure of spread is necessary. This study aims to describe students' errors in solving problems related to the measure of dispersion. Researchers used a qualitative descriptive approach. We administered the test during the even semester from January to June in the year 2021. The participants were 80 undergraduate students who have completed or taken statistics courses. This test consists of 2 questions that are related to each other. Researchers used the three main steps to analyze the data which consist of data condensation, data display, and verifying and drawing the conclusion. We obtained the data related to students' errors from their test results. The results showed that more than 50% of students still make mistakes on every problem. The mistakes made by participants consisted of the use of formulas, miscalculations, the use of known data, the use of concepts, not giving conclusions, and inconsistencies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the transformation of algebraic thinking and calculus of preservice the mathematics students based on SOLO taxonomy in solving differential equations problems. The research subjects were 86 students in the mathematics education study program. Subject selection uses purposive sampling (students who take courses in differential equations). Data were collected using problem-solving tests and interviews which were then analyzed using the descriptive qualitative method with the following stages: (1) transcribing test and interview data, (2) coding segmentation, (3) analyzing student thinking transformations, and (4) concluding. The results showed that the transformation of algebraic and calculus thinking was used by students at each level of thinking to solve problems. The higher the level of thinking achieved, the better and the maximum transformation of algebraic and calculus thinking used by students. These results indicate that students need to be well supported and facilitated in problem-solving to achieve higher levels of thinking, such as the relational and extended abstract levels.

Abstract

The study aims at discovering the description of problem-solving skills of students in Math based on spatial intelligence in grade VIII at SMPN 3 Pallangga. This type of study is qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The research subjects were 6 students who were divided into 3 groups, namely 2 subjects with high spatial skills, 2 subjects with moderate spatial skills, and 2 subjects with low spatial skills in grade VIIIC at SMPN 3 Pallangga. The research instruments were the researcher herself as the main instrument and a test of spatial intelligence, the test of problem-solving skills, a guided interview, and a validation sheet as the supporting instruments. The data collecting method employed a written test and interview. The data analysis was conducted by employing data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The data validity employed a source triangulation. Through the qualitative data analysis, the researcher discovered that the Math problem-solving skills of students with high spatial intelligence understood the problem by using spatial visualization skills, spatial perception, and mental rotation, as well as able to solve the problem by fulfilling Polya's four steps correctly. The Math problem-solving skills of students with moderate spatial intelligence understood the problems by using spatial visualization skills and spatial perception and were able to solve the problem by fulfilling Polya's two steps only, as well as being unable to plan the solution and rechecking. The Math problem-solving skills of students with low spatial intelligence still have difficulties using their spatial skills so they are unable to solve the problem given correctly.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas tentang pengembangan bahan ajar berupa modul berbantuan software matlab pada materi matriks kelas XI SMA. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar berbantuan software matlab pada materi matriks. (2) untuk menilai tingkat kevalidan, kepraktisan, dan keefektifan bahan ajar berbantuan software matlab materi matriks pada mata pelajaran matematika. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah Research and Development dengan mengacu pada model pengembangan ADDIE. Model ADDIE terdiri dari 5 tahapan pengembangan yaitu analisis, perancangan, pengembangan, penerapan dan evaluasi. Produk yang dikembangkan berupa modul matematika yang memuat materi matriks dilengkapi dengan sintaks matlab. Subjek uji coba dalam penelitian ini adalah kelas XI MIPA 2 SMA Negeri 6 Makassar. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah lembar validasi ahli, lembar observasi keterlaksanaan modul, angket respon siswa, lembar observasi aktivitas siswa, dan tes hasil belajar. Pada penelitian ini, proses pengembangan produk dimulai dari tahap analisis sampai dengan tahap evaluasi dengan kata lain semua tahapan pengembangan modul dengan menggunakan model ADDIE terlaksana seluruhnya. Berdasarkan hasil uji coba yang dilakukan, diperoleh bahwa (1) modul dikategorikan sangat valid karena berada pada interval . (2) modul dikatakan praktis karena seluruh aspek terlaksana sepenuhnya, (3) modul dikatakan efektif karena tingkat ketuntasannya mencapai 100%. Dengan demikian, penguasaan tes hasil belajar siswa sudah memenuhi standar ketuntasan. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa pada tahap uji coba yang telah dilakukan peneliti, pengembangan bahan ajar berbantuan software matlab pada materi matriks kelas XI SMA telah memenuhi kriteri kevalidan, kepraktisan, dan keefektifan.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of the cruickshank model on mathematics learning outcomes in grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Marioriawa, Soppeng Regency. This research is an experimental study that uses a quasi-experimental design research design. The study population was all grade VIII students of SMPN 1 Marioriawa, Soppeng Regency for the 2020–2021 school year, a total of 104 people divided into 5 classes. Samples were taken with a simple random sampling technique that was selected into an experimental class taught using the cruickshank model and a control class taught without using the cruickshank model. The research model used is a pretest-posttest control group design. Data collection techniques were carried out using multiple-choice test instruments in the form of 20 numbers. Data analysis techniques are performed with descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis. The analysis of inferential data for the instrument was conducted in the form of a test using the Mann-Whitney u-test using SPSS with a significant level of 5%, α = 0.05 previously set. The results of the study showed that there was a significant influence of the cruickshank model on mathematics learning outcomes in grade VIII students of SMPN 1 Marioriawa, Soppeng Regency, where learning outcomes in students taught with the cruickshank model were higher than in students who were taught without applying the cruickshank model.

Abstract

This study aims to show the content of students' argumentation in building their creative reasoning and the relationship between argumentation content and students' mathematical literacy skills. The type of research applied is descriptive qualitative research involving 27 junior high school students in Toli-Toli City, Central Sulawesi. The research instrument used was a like-mathematical literacy test and an assessment rubric. The collected data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis which was used to analyze text data. The results of the research show that 1) The content of students' arguments in building their creative reasoning is supported by using simple statements, complex statements, completed by syntax or no syntax in building mathematical arguments, and 2) the ability of students to show their argumentation in the problem solving is the level of their capacity to interpret and to represent their knowledge and learning experience related with the problem. The breadth and depth of content of students' mathematical literacy give them the flexibility to argue. Students' mathematical literacy ability by simply giving simple statements has a different breadth and depth than those who are able to give complex statements. Likewise with the shrewdness of using syntax in constructing problem-solving plans.
