Abstract

Abstract: In mathematics learning, communication and problem solving are very important goals. To obtain information about that, a good assessment method is needed in the form of rubrics in each test. According to Danielson (1997), it is more appropriate to use analytical rubrics because the information obtained about students' strengths and weaknesses is clearer. This study aims to describe the development process and obtain a valid, practical and effective analytical rubric. This development relies on the Plomp (2010) model while compiling the Danielson (1997) rubric theory. The trial subjects were 2 mathematics teachers and 33 VIII grade students. From the validation and testing, an analytical rubric was obtained consisting of 6 aspects and 2 sub-aspects. Weight 1 for the first and fifth aspects and weight 2 for the other aspects. Sub aspects of the rubric are accuracy and completeness. Every aspect and sub aspect has 4 levels. The results of this study are valid, practical and effective analytical rubrics. Validity is shown by the average score of all validators is 3.1. Practicality is shown by (1) the correlation coefficient between classes is 0.980, 0.990, and 0.991 and (2) the average score of all teachers is 3.44. The effectiveness is shown by (1) the average percentage of total development scores is 7.7% and (2) 75.8% of students get positive KMT. Further research is needed for the description of the performance of the completeness of the aspects of the analytic rubric. Keywords: Pengembangan, Rubrik Analitik

Abstract

Abstract: The purposes of this research were: (1) Analyzing the implementation of analytical geometry learning at the Mathematics Education Department of STKIP PGRI Nganjuk; (2) Finding out lecturers’ needs of teaching materials that helped students improve students’ learning achievements; (3) Finding out students’ needs of teaching materials that helped students improve their creativity and learning achievement. This was a qualitative and descriptive research. The subjects in this research were chosen by using purposive sampling. The chosen subjects of this research were the sixth-semester students at the Mathematics Education Department of STKIP PGRI Nganjuk. Collecting data was performed by the researchers themselves by using observation sheets and questionnaires as the main and supporting instruments. Processing and analyzing data were performed in four steps: (1) coding data; (2) data tabulation; (3) qualitative data analysis; (4) interpretation of the results of the analysis. The researchers found that: (1) The implementation of analytical geometry learning in the mathematics education department still used the lecture and discussion methods meanwhile the used teaching materials were books which only emphasize on the material and solving the routine problems; (2) The lecturers needed modules as teaching materials that could help students improve learning outcomes and creativity in problem-solving; (3) 76% of students found difficulties in analytical geometry courses and 86% of students stated that the existing teaching materials did not make them completely understand and got motivated in learning so the students agreed with and supported the creation and development of multi-representation based of analytical geometry learning modules. Keywords: Analytical Geometry, Analysis of Needs, Module, Multi-Representation.

Abstract

Abstract: Constructivism is one of the views in learning theories that affect much of the learning of mathematics. According to experts, the view of mathematics learning as discovery and construction by students is better than the abstract set of science informed by the teacher. Junior high school students are students who begin to be introduced and understand abstract way of thinking, so students should not be taught by way of rote memorization without meaning, especially on learning mathematics filled with abstract symbols. This article aims to describe the learning of Junior high school mathematics in constructivism perspective: planning, process, assessment of learning, role of student and teacher role. This article is using library research method. The data collected and analyzed are secondary data in the form of research results including books, journal articles and conference proccedings relevant to the topic. The results show that constructivism is a new way of thinking that knowledge is not only through the transfer process, but the knowledge grows and develops from activities, such as the activity of constructing the concept of variables and constants using the help of contextual problems. Assessment used in learning mathematics in the perspective of constructivism is formative and summative assessment. The role of students in junior mathematics learning with constructivism approach focuses on student activity in constructing their own knowledge and its consequences. Meanwhile, the role of teachers in junior high school mathematics with constructivism approach is divided into two namely the teacher as a facilitator and moderator. Keywords: Teacher, Constructivism, Mathematics Learning, Student

Abstract

Abstract: Self-efficacy is related to a person's judgment of student ability to solve something. This ability to be one that supports the successful completion of the task well, it can be said that self-efficacy support students' mathematical abilities. This ability becomes a powerful predictor of problem solving. This article aims to examine students' mathematical self-efficacy abilities in mathematical problem solving. The method used is to collect the data library without empirical test. Self-efficacy is important role in everything, especially for students who are solto solve mathematics problem. Given the high self-efficacy capability in the student is expected to succeed in solving mathematics problem. Students with high mathematical self-efficacy are better able to solve mathematical problems well and student failures in solving mathematical problems are assumed for lack of effort or learning. Conversely, students with low mathematical self-efficacy tend to be vulnerable and easily give up in solving mathematical problems and student failures in solving mathematical problems are assumed for their lack of mathematical ability. Keywords: Problem Solving, Self-Efficacy.
