Abstract

This study aims at evaluating: (1) the difference of students’ mathematics learning achievement viewed from two different learning methods, (2) the difference of students’ mathematics learning achievement viewed from different learning styles, (3) the effect of interaction between teaching methods and learning styles on students’ mathematics learning achievement. This study is a quantitative research with quasiexperimental research design. The population of this study is 210 students of 10thgrade of SMA MTA Surakarta. Two classes were chosen for the sample of this study by cluster random sampling. The first class was treated using Conceptual Understanding Procedures (CUPs) method and the second class was treated using Mind Mapping method. The data collection was conducted using test, questionnaire, and documentation. Morever, the data was analized using different number of cell analysis of variance with 5% significance level. The conclusion are: (1) there is difference on student’s mathematics learning achievement viewed from two different learning methods, Conceptual Understanding Procedures (CUPs) a give better achievement than Mind Mapping, (2) there is no difference on students’ learning achievement viewed from different learning styles, (3) there is no effect of interaction between teaching methods and learning styles on students’ mathematics learning achievement.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji: (1) signifikansi kontribusi kemampuan kalkulus differensial dan kalkulus integral terhadap hasil belajar mahasiswa pada mata kuliah persamaan differensial, (2) signifikansi kontribusi kemampuan kalkulus differensial terhadap hasil belajar mahasiswa pada mata kuliah persamaan differensial, dan (3) signifikansi kontribusi kemampuan kalkulus integral daterhadap hasil belajar mahasiswa pada mata kuliah persamaan differensial. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif assosiatif dengan populasi seluruh mahasiswa semester V Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika, Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta, Tahun Akademik 2015/2016. Dengan teknik sampling kuota, diperoleh 25 mahasiswa sebagai sampel di dalam penelitian ini. Data penelitian diperoleh dengan metode tes dan dokumentasi. Data tersebut dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji regresi linier ganda dengan tingkat signifikansi 5% menggunakan software SPSS. Sebagai uji prasyarat analisis dilakukan uji normalitas, uji linieritas, uji multikolinieritas, uji autokorelasi, dan uji heteroskedastisitas. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa: (1) terdapat kontribusi yang signifikan dari kemampuan kalkulus differensial dan kalkulus integral terhadap hasil belajar mahasiswa pada mata kuliah persamaan differensial, (2) terdapat kontribusi yang signifikan dari kemampuan kalkulus differensial terhadap hasil belajar mahasiswa pada mata kuliah persamaan differensial, dan (3) terdapat kontribusi yang signifikan dari kemampuan integral terhadap hasil belajar mahasiswa pada mata kuliah persamaan differensial.

Abstract

Many studies have revealed that fraction is a complicated mathematics topic for students. Students struggle to solve problems including comparison and addition of fractions correctly. However, some students often make some common mistakes in solving the mathematics problems. There are three types of errors in solving mathematics problems, which are factual error, procedural error, and computational error. This study was aimed at investigating various mistakes by students in problems related to fractions. A set of validated problems about comparing and adding fractions was assigned to third grade students of SD N Laboratorium Unesa Surabaya. The results indicated that some students were not aware on how to compare and add fractions. Most of these students employed incorrect strategies categorized as procedural and conceptual errors.

kill about using LEGO in mathematics teaching and learning to mathematics teachers. This conducted into three stages of training and two stages of real teaching. The stages of the training were introducing the use of LEGO in mathematics teaching and learning, designing sets of teaching and learning activities using LEGO as the media, and peer teaching. The real teaching conducted in two stages of three meetings for each stages. Twelve mathematics teachers from five schools of Muhammadiyah in Surakarta were participated in this training. The teachers have technically trained with new experiences using LEGO as media in mathematics learning and have developed five sets of lesson plans for the topics of fractions, sets, proportion, linear equation with one variable, and statistics. The real teaching for the topic of fractions was conducted in two of those five schools. The results indicate the learning activities designed support students understanding and attitude in mathematics.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a learning model based on the theory of realistic mathematics education and child-friendly learning for teaching mathematics in junior high school. This research is conducted using Plomp’s educational design research that consists of four development phases: 1) preliminary investigation, 2) designing, 3) realization, and 4) revision, evaluation. In addition, this study also tests the mathematics instructional model prototype being developed and validated by an expert. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that: 1) the teacher’s learning management in the implementation of realistic and child-friendly learning model can be classified “very good”, 2) the prototype model is categorized “very good” in improving students’ activities , and 3) the students’ responses toward the developed mathematics instructional model are "positive”. Moreover, the syntaxes of realistic and child-friendly learning model for teaching mathematics in junior high school have been formulated, namely: 1) explaining learning objectives and motivating students, 2) providing contextual problems students familiar with, or horizontal mathematization, 3) processing abstraction or vertical mathematization, 4) devising strategies, 5) communicating solution in a discussion, and 6) giving inferences of mathematics subject-matter.

Abstract

This study aims at analyzing students' mathematics communication ability in solving word-context problems in the topic of Linear Equation System with Two Variable and describing students' profiles in each level of mathematics communication ability in solving word-context problems in the topic of Linear Equation System with Two Variable using Polya steps. This study is a descriptive qualitative study involving 20 students of grade 8th. The data collection was conducted by using observation, test, interview, and documentation. The data analysis was conducted in three stages, namely data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that: (1) Students at the low level of mathematics communication ability were only able to complete some Polya steps. The step of understanding the problem, compiling, and carrying out the plan was done poorly. Whereas the action of checking the answers was not completed. (2) Students at the level of mathematics communication ability can write down steps to understand the problem quite well. However, the stages of devising a plan, carrying out the plan, and re-checking answers cannot be done well. (3) Students at a high level of mathematics communication ability can perform the four steps of Polya even though there are still shortages in doing the calculations to get answers.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic is an extraordinary event that is currently hitting various parts of the world. Many of the consequences caused by this outbreak of this virus. Limitation of social interaction (social distancing) in an effort to break the chain of the spread of Covid-19 was taken and followed government health protocols. Online learning as an alternative to learning in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. Learning that is carried out indirectly and is in a network, of course, makes students must have strong learning motivation to achieve maximum learning outcomes. There are two objectives in this study, namely 1) to analyze and test the differences in learning outcomes of class X students of SMK Muhammadiyah Kartasura in offline learning before the Covid-19 pandemic era and in online learning in the Covid-19 pandemic era, 2) Analyze and test the influence of motivation on outcomes. class X student of SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Kartasura in online learning in the Covid-19 pandemic era. This research uses a quantitative approach with the type of comparative causal research. The results of this study indicate that there are significant differences in the average learning outcomes of Class X Vocational School students in offline learning before the Covid-19 pandemic era and in online learning in the Covid-19 pandemic era. Student learning outcomes in offline learning are higher than in online learning. Meanwhile, the one-way Anova test results show that there is an influence of motivation on learning outcomes of class X Vocational High School students in online learning in the era of the Covid-19 pandemic. Students have high motivation to learn in the high and low groups.

Abstract

Untuk memperoleh penguasaan konsep yang baik, diperlukan penalaran dalam proses belajar siswa. Sebagai contoh, dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita, selain memperoleh jawaban dari apa yang ditanyakan, siswa perlu memahami langkah-langkah untuk mendapatkan jawaban tersebut. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa kelas VIII dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita sistem persamaan linear dua variabel. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan yaitu deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek pada penelitian ini terdiri dari dua siswa kelas VIII pada sebuah SMP Negeri di Jawa Tengah tahun ajaran 2020/2021 yang telah dipilih berdasarkan kategori kemampuan matematika tinggi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu dokumentasi, tes, dan wawancara. Teknis analisis data terdiri dari reduksi data, penyajian data, dan verifikasi atau penarikan kesimpulan. Keabsahan data dalam penelitian ini yaitu triangulasi sumber dan triangulasi metode. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa berkemampuan tinggi termasuk pada kriteria baik. Namun belum semuanya memenuhi keempat indikator kemampuan penalaran matematis dengan baik, dan jawaban setiap siswa kategori tinggi berbeda. Hanya saja siswa dapat melakukan manipulasi matematika, menyusun bukti dan memberikan alasan terhadap kebenaran solusi dengan benar.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tingkat keterampilan berpikir siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal matematika pada materi garis dan sudut berdasarkan taksonomi Bloom revisi Anderson dan Krathwohl tahun 2010. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII D SMP Negeri 2 Baki Sukoharjo yang berjumlah 34 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan dan keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi metode yaitu observasi, tes, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Dengan menggunakan dimensi kognitif taksonomi Bloom revisi, hasil penelitian diperoleh persentase pada kategori keterampilan berpikir tingkat rendah (lower order thinking skills) yang mencakup mengingat (C1), memahami (C2), dan menerapkan (C3) mencapai 29,412%. Sedangkan persentase pada kategori keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi (higher order thinking skills) yang mencakup menganalisis (C4), mengevaluasi (C5), dan mencipta (C6) hanya mencapai 2,941%. Persentase pada setiap tingkatan keterampilan berpikir siswa sebagai berikut; keterampilan berpikir tingkat mengingat 26,471%, memahami 45,588%, menerapkan 16,176%, menganalisis 8,824%, mengevaluasi 0%, dan mencipta mencapai 0%. Siswa telah mampu mencapai tingkat berpikir hingga menganalisis (C4). Sedangkan pada tingkat mengevaluasi (C5) dan mencipta (C6) seluruh siswa tidak dapat mencapainya.
