Abstract

This research was motivated by author's observation at SMP N 1 Ampek Angkek where some of the students was a game players. Although they were played game online, they still got good grades in their school.This study aims to determine the relationship of online games with students' mathematical critical thinking skills held at SMP N 1 Ampek Angkek. This research is a quantitative research with the type of research used is relationship research. The independent variable in this study is online games and the dependent variable is students' critical thinking abilities. The population in this study amounted to 114 students, while the sampling was done by random sampling of 29 students. Based on the results of the research that the researchers did obtained the value of the Pearson Product Moment relationship, r(count) = 0.068 with 0.05 significance level. So that based on the interpretation of the coefficient relationship r value is between 0.00 <0.068 <0.199, the relationship between the two variables (online games with critical thinking skills) is very low. Based on the significance test obtained sig = 0.728. Because the value of sig = 0.728> α = 0.05, it can be concluded that there is correlationship but not significant between online games with mathematical critical thinking skills at SMP N 1 Ampek Angkek.

Abstract

This research aim to improve the creativity the college student in mathematics learning by making mathematics display tool especially display tool from utilize secondhand. One of the way is utilize secondhand as thing which good for education, namely mathematics display tool. This research held in Telaah Matematika SD learning in IKIP Budi Utomo Malang. Subject of this research is the college student in study program of Mathematics Education. This observational type is classroom action research. The aim of this research is describe college student creativity step-up in utilize second as display tool. The success criteria of this research is the creativity value every the college student reach more than 70. Based on the observational gotten that the creativity value of the student college in pre research reach 30,  then in one cycle there the valuae of the college student is 55, and in two cycle all of the college students reach the value more than 70. Therefore this research can increase to creativity of the college student.

Abstract

Multimedia Interaktif Bab Peluang (MUPEL) are an interactive multimedia to facilitate self-learning in the chapter of Probability. The purpose of this research is: (1) to describe misconception of probability for students who use the interactive multimedia assistance and for students who take the conventional learning and (2) to test the difference in the proportion of decreasing misconception between students who use the interactive multimedia assistance and students who take the conventional learning. The research was conducted at SMAN 2 Kediri. The subjects of this research were students of class XI MIPA 6 as a control class and students of class XI MIPA 8 as an experimental class. The research method that used was Quasi Experiment and the reserach design was Non-Equivalent Pretest-Postest Control Group Design. The instrument of data collection is a diagnostic test of misconception. The data analysis technique used is the proportion test with the Z test and the significance level . The results of this research were: (1) the initial knowledge of the experimental class was 76% still make misconception while the control class 77% still made misconception. After going through the learning process, the experimental class succeeded in reducing misconception to 19%, while the control class succeeded to reduce the misconception only to 45%, and (2) the result of hypothesis testing using the Z-test obtained . Based on these results, the proportion of the reduction in misconception of students with learning facilitated by MUPEL greater than the proportion of the reduction in misconception of students who take conventional learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze communication skills in solving mathematical problems. This research is qualitative research. The subjects of the research is the Islamic Elementary School students of Quran Al Bahjah Tulungagung. Determination of subjects using purposive sampling based on communication skills and solving mathematical problems. The instrument of this research is in the form of mathematical problem solving test questions and interview sheets. Data collection techniques are done by collecting data from written tests and student interviews. The results of this study are 1) the stage of understanding the problem, the subject understands the problem well and is able to express mathematical ideas verbally and written, able to explain mathematical representations made; 2) the stage of planning a strategy for solving a story problem, the subject can explain the plan to solve the story problem that is done and have the ability to express mathematical ideas verbally and written, able to explain mathematical representations made and able to explain the relationship of ideas in solving problems; 3) the stage of implementing a settlement strategy, the subject is sure of the results done and can show that the answer is correct and able to express written and oral mathematical ideas; and 4) at the re-examination stage, the subject re-checks the answers obtained and is able to express mathematical ideas verbally and written.

Abstract

One effort to improve the quality of mathematics learning is to provide teaching materials that are appropriate to the classroom situation. The purpose of this development research is to produce teaching materials in the form of Graf Theory textbooks which are expected to help improve student activity. The research method used follows the design of the ADDIE model. The results of the study are that the draft Theory Graf textbook prepared can be used as a textbook. This can be done because all validators state that the quality of the textbooks that are made includes good and very good categories. Furthermore, by paying attention to the comments, input / suggestions from the validators, the teaching book is revised again so that it becomes more perfect and finally can be legalized into a textbook ready for use by Mathematics Education lecturers and students as one of the learning resources for graph theory courses. Besides that the resulting textbooks are expected to overcome the lack of teaching materials available at STKIP PGRI Tulungagung Mathematics Education Study Program.

Abstract

Mathematical problems expressed in the form of verbal or story problems are felt difficult by some students. Constructing verbal form questions or story problems should be able to be trained to students in the learning process in the classroom, so that they are trained in dealing with problems while providing experience in solving various problems faced or mathematical problems. This study aims to describe the profile of mathematics olympiad participants in the construction of story problems. The results of the study show that the ability of students in the mathematics Olympiad to construct the story problem is that students of the Olympic Games can reformulate the problem in constructing the story problem based on the information provided, he can also reconstruct the problem in the story problem by modifying the information provided without changing the intent of the information provided and they are also able to complete the construction of the problem by using a completion procedure, and are able to imitate the problem in constructing the problem of the story by linking it in real life and assuming the initial problem or information provided as the first step in solving a new problem.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to describe the students? error in measurement materials in terms of learning style. This is a qualitative descriptive research. The subject of this research was 6 students with each of the two students in visual learning styles, auditory learning styles, and kinesthetic learning style. The research instruments were questionnaire, test, interview, and observations. Data analysis activities were data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/ verification. The technique of data analysis used interactive techniques with these three procedures. The result of this research showed that the students? error with visual learning styles in solving units, size, and time included material concepts errors and the use of mathematical unit; this is because teachers tend to use the lecture method in learning. The students? errors with auditory learning style in solving unit, size and time included in interpreting data, determining formulas and errors in counting. The cause of this error is not remembering the concept and hurrying in solving math problems. The students? error with kinesthetic styles in solving unit, size and time included student errors identifying elements and language interpretation, errors in language use, and conceptual errorst.

Abstract

Critical thinking is an important ability that must be owned by preservice teachers of mathematics, for self competence, provision of pedagogical ability, as well as in mathematicl context. The moment of the emergence of critical thinking ability need to be a special attention by educators in order to be able to design learning which facilitate the development of that critical thinking ability. This article aimed to describe critical thinking profiles of undergraduate preservice teacher mathematics in solving linear pattern problem at level emergent critical thinker. The case study is performed to two undergraduate students of mathematics department at STKIP PGRI Tulungagung who reflect that level in solving linear pattern problem in the paving tiling context. The result of the case study showed that the critical thinking ability of preservice teachers begin emerge on interpretation, analysis, inference, and explanation aspects but still lack on evaluation and self-regulation aspects.

Abstract

Technological development has a huge influence on the social, economic, cultural and even educational fields, especially in mathematics subject. Mathematical communication skills of students obtained in mathematics learning help train students to solve problems in everyday life. Based on our survey, mathematical communication skills of students are still relatively low, this is evident in learning to solve applied mathematics problems. Students tend to have difficulty expressing their ideas in solving problems. This study aims to determine the improvement of students' mathematical communication skills in class X-A MA Al Fattahiyyah by learning numbered head together. Class Action Research refers to John Elliot's model is proposed in this research. Subjects are students of class X-A MA Al Fattahiyyah. Data collection techniques were written tests and documentation. While the research instrument was a test of students' mathematical communication skills. Research results show that the use of numbered head together can improve students' mathematical communication skills.

Abstract

This research aims to describe metacognitive skills of climber students in solving mathematic problems in class VIII junior high school. The subject of research isthree climber students of Junior High School 3 Purworejo. The research method used qualitative with the form of phenomenological research. The subject of research is climber students of Junior High School 3 Purworejo. The research instrument is an Adversity Quotient questionnaire, mathematic troubleshooting test, and interviews. Data collection techniques are conducted by collecting data from writing test and interview with students. The results showed that climber students planning skills at the stage of understanding problems and planning problem solving is aware in predicting the knowledge of materials needed and have the thoroughness in digging information that is important in the matter, aware of the plan used and able to realize the relationship with the problems that ever worked. Climber students monitoring skills on the stage of implementing a solving plan, students are aware in the process of solving questions and aware that previous strategies can assist in solving the problem, students also aware and confident with the results of his work. Mean while, climber students evaluation skills realize that the results are correct, but students not realize that there are other strategies that can solve the problem.
