Abstract

Jambi Province has the three largest and best-quality betel nut producing districts namely Tanjung Jabung Barat Regency, Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency, Muaro Jambi Regency, but Tanjung Jabung Barat Regency has the largest land area and production. With the limited technology and traditional post-harvest areca processing patterns, the yield of areca nuts is less than optimal. The purpose of this study are a). Describe the pattern of post-harvest handling of areca nut in Tanjung Jabung Barat Regency; b). Analyzing the determinants that influence farmers' decisions in choosing post-harvest areca nut management patterns in Tanjung Jabung Barat Regency. The sample of this study was farmers who worked on areca nut in Betara District which consisted of 3 villages namely Tanjung Senjulang Village, Jati Mas Village and Bram Itam Raya Village as many as 78 people from a population of 347 areca nut farmers. The method of determining the sample by simple random sampling. The data analysis method uses multinomial logistic regression analysis. In this study, researchers examined the influence of capital, experience, price, labor, education and technology on pentane decisions to choose between 3 post-harvest areca nut handling patterns. Based on the analysis results it is known that capital, experience and price have a significant effect (p <0.1) on the decision of farmers in choosing pattern 1 in post-harvest handlers. As for labor, education and technology had no significant effect (p> 0.1). Based on the analysis that capital has a significant effect (p <0.1) on the decision of farmers in choosing pattern 2 in post-harvest handling, but for experience, price, labor, education and technology have no significant effect (p> 0.1). Capital, experience and price have a significant effect (p <0.1).

Abstract

This study aims to 1) study the description of the condition of oil palm rejuvenation using the simultaneous fall and underplanting technique in Sungai Bahar District, and 2) To analyze the factors that influence the decisions of oil palm farmers in replanting. This research was conducted in Suka Makmur and Mekarsari Makmur villages with a total of 30 farmers who did rejuvenation, 30 farmers who did underplanting rejuvenation and 30 farmers who did not replant. Data were analyzed using multinomial regression analysis. The results showed that at the research location two rejuvenation techniques were carried out, namely the simultaneous collapse technique which was funded by BPDPKS and the underplanting technique which was carried out independently by farmers. The simultaneous fall technique is carried out by uprooting all old plants which will be rejuvenated and then replaced with young plants. The underplanting technique is carried out by inserting young plants between old plants and then injecting them with the old plants as a method of gradual felling. The results of the analysis showed that the tendency of farmers to rejuvenate with the simultaneous collapse and underplanting technique was significantly influenced by the age of the farmers, the area of oil palm and the farmers' income at the 95% degree of confidence. The tendency of farmers to choose simultaneous rejuvenation is influenced by age which is 0,541 times smaller, the area of oil palm land is 11,428 times larger and the workforce in the family is 8,757 times greater than that of not doing replanting. The tendency of farmers to choose underplanting rejuvenation is influenced by the age of 0,279 times smaller, the area of oil palm land is 7,851 times larger and the workforce in the family is 2,940 times greater than that of not replanting.

Abstract

This study aims to (1) find out the general description of palm sugar agro-industry in Muara Bulian, (2) analyze the determination of the price of palm sugar to be marketed and (3) analyze the added value of palm sugar agro-industry. The data analysis method used is a quantitative descriptive method using the help table analysis of the added value analysis of the Hayami method and using the Cost Plus method Pricing From these calculations will be known the amount of added value per production process and the profits received by industry and the optimum price to be marketed. The added value is then used to measure agroindustry productivity by using value added ratios. The results showed that (1) the agroindustry of palm sugar in Bulian estuary still produces traditionally and is developed in a descending manner. Print sugar agro-industry consists of 63 active craftsmen who produce sugar almost every day and 6 of them have produced ant sugar. Until now there is only one craftsman who still produces ant sugar, (2) based on the results of the Cost Plus Pricing analysis, the optimal printed sugar mark-up is IDR 5,000 / kg which will provide a selling price of IDR 18,683.63 / kg, while the Mark the optimal ant sugar up is IDR 10,000 / kg up to IDR 18,000 / kg which will provide a selling price of IDR 37,617 / kg up to IDR 45,617.85 / kg, (3) processing palm sugar into ant sugar will produce added value and profit which is higher than the processing of palm sugar into printed sugar because the ratio of added value of ant sugar is higher than that of printed sugar.
