Abstract

Rapid growth of technology in sea transport requires much number of seafarers. Indonesian National Ship owners Association (INSA) claims that the need of seafarers is getting increased hand in hand with Cabotage policy which obliges whether all domestic or national sea transports should use nation-flag vessel and conducted by national sea transport shipping company as well as occupied by Indonesian crews. Shipping agent is needed by foreign shipping company to serve all the vessel needs, crew and ship cargo. Shipping agent also arranges all documents as well as all the crew needs. It deals with the crew when the crew is getting sick, extending expired documents, also arranging letter for special ease of immigration for foreign vessel crew. All crews and foreign expert who work in Indonesia territory should get supervision and control from immigration affair especially those who work using sea transport. The purpose of arranging letter of special ease of immigration is to avoid crimes which are many caused by uncontrolled incoming and outgoing flow of foreign crews. For example it avoids smuggling, illegal immigrant, terrorism, drug abuse which commonly happens in Indonesian immigration territory. Directorate general of immigration even tends to maximize immigration officers in handling the incoming and outgoing flow of foreign workers or foreign crews especially those in foreign vessel. This research belongs to qualitative research with descriptive approach

Abstract

This research is aimed at getting to know the influence of as much as 99% level of alkali treatment (NaOH) or 60 gram of each in one liter aqua and soaked during three hours, heated with the temperature of 140o Celsius during 10 hours. This research is also intended to know the combination of 99% level of Alkali treatment (NaOH) or 60 gram of each in one liter aqua and soaked during three hours continued with the heating with temperature around 140o Celsius during ten hours toward the content of crystalline index (Cl) which correlates with Kenaf fiber strength as composit material of nature fiber. The result of the research shows that the highest content of crystalline index is possessed on Alkali treatment which is combined with the heating as much as 79,908% followed by Alkali treatment as much as 68,389% extended by heating treatment as much as 62,707%. The research also shows that the lowest content of crystalline index is the untreated fiber as much as 62,045%.

Abstract

Oceans cover 71 percent of the earth’s surface. They constitute a natural solar energy collection and storage system, and the resulting thermal energy can be drown off 24 hours a day by OTEC Plant. OTEC (ocean thermal energy conversion) power plant is one candidate to produce electric energy. OTEC transforms the heat stored in surface water of tropical oceans into mechanical work to produce useful energy. The aim of this paper was to investigate the equation of boiler in OTEC technology. The surface temperature of the sea water which is located Kalianget donan and Cilacap region between 32 up to 35 with a depth of 30 to 100 meters produce the greatest efficiency is 0.19.

Abstract

Normative legal research toward the risks of exploration and exploitation of oil and natural gas is a response to environmental disasters of lapindo mudflow in porong, Sidoarjo,, East Java. In an effort to find solutions of problems occurred, namely environmental damage and losses that occur as a direct result of mining activities of PT. Lapindo Brantas has caused great losses, both public property and citizens. Who must take the responsibility for whatever risks that may happened based on the Petroleum Natural Gas Act and the Environmental Management Act ? Based on analysis of data it can be delivered the following results, (1) According to the prevailing laws and regulations the rights of state control over oil and gas held by the government as the authority of Mining, which in the implementation of authority is carried out by the oil and Gas Implementing Body. Thus Enterprises of PT. Lapindo Brantas which conducts the exploration and exploitation in Porong’s mining area, Sidoarjo has to get the concession based on the Cooperation Contract. (2) Concerning to the environmental damages and losses occurred as the results of mining activities of PT. Lapindo Brantas, the company is obliged to take responsibility for whatever risks that may happened. Similarly, the state should not escape from the consequences as the authority of mining which has the obligation to protect the interests and general welfare, in any attempt to use the natural resources for prosperity of the people as great as possible.

Abstract

Laboratory or workshop management as a process that directs the stepsof each workshop user to always comply with the rules or regulationsapplicable in the workshop. Management in order to realize the common goal ofthe workshop is always in a clean, tidy, maintained and maintained condition.Laboratory management as a strategy to achieve laboratory objectivesthrough planning, organizing, mobilizing, using and monitoring all laboratoryresources to achieve goals optimally. Laboratory resources include: instructors,tenants, facilities and infrastructure. Laboratory is a place of observation,experiment, practice and testing of concept and technology. Each user of theworkshop should know and pay attention to it during the use of the workshopor during the workshop. In order for it can be well conditioned it is necessaryto have a proper and clear workshop management. Abstract

The research was conducted at one point in Cilacap Waters in order toanalyze wind direction and speed with WRPLOTS application in 1 year periodfrom January to December 2015. Data obtained from BMKG Cilacap withdetails of wind direction and speed every hour (24 hours). Based on thepercentage of wind direction and speeds studied over the course of a year(January to December 2015) shows that winds move with wind speeds movingat top speeds of more than 22 knots with a 29.0% percentage rate and movingaround east and south.Key words: Wind, water, WRPLOTS

Abstract

The sea water on board a ship is very required. Sea water isneeded continuously both during the engine operation and vesseloperation. Sea water system is used as a cooling system, ballast, firefighting treatment and so on. The sea water is conveyed on boardthrough the scupper at the bottom part of the water line near the engineroom which is called sea chest. There are minimumly two scuppers.One of it is laid in the upper side and functions in the shallow waterand the other one is located rather down and it is used in a deep water.Sea chest consists of some components to supply the need of sea waterefficiently. Besides, sea chest has to be effectively functioned thoughthe vessel is in listing situation around 22,5 degree.Keywords: sea chest, function, location and equipment

Abstract

This study examines the influence of social faktors on employeeperformance at the Yogyakarta Maritime Academy (AMY). The problemstudied is the influence of social faktors on employee performance.This research is a quantitative research that uses primary dataas its data source. Data were obtained from questionnaires toemployees of the Yogyakarta Maritime Academy. Data were analyzedusing simple linear regression.The result of the research concludes that there is a significantinfluence of social faktors on employee performance at the YogyakartaMaritime Academy (AMY). It can be known from simple linearregression test that get significance level (Sig) < 0,05. The greatinfluence given by social faktors on work performance is equal to 0.811 (80.11%). This means that every 10% increase of social faktorswill increase 80.11% employee performance.Keywords: Social Faktors, Employee Performance

Abstract

This study examines the capital structure of PT Berlian LajuTanker Tbk. in period 2003-2016. The problem study is thedevelopment of capital structure of PT Berlian Laju Tanker Tbk. inperiod 2003-2016 that caused it almost went bankrupt.This research is quantitative descriptive. The data studied inthis research is secondary data. Data collection techniques used is documentation method with quantitative descriptive analysismethods.The research found that the capital structure of PT Berlian LajuTanker Tbk. in the period 2002-2016 was dominated by debt. This isindicated by the high ratio of DER (Debt to Equity Ratio) that is equalto 70.01%. The higher the ratio, indicating the greater the capitalderived from debt. Due to the high debt in the company's capitalstructure, the company is almost bankrupt in 2012 which is shownby the inability of the company to pay the debt. This event teachesthat firms that want to survive should pay attention to thecomposition of their capital structure remains healthy, ie notdependent on debt, but more use their own capital (equity).Keywords: Capital Structure, Shipping Company
