Abstract

Abstract. Chicken livestock development can increase rapidly, if the supply of seeds can run well, followed by regular management, feeding, breeding and disease prevention. So far the exact ratio of males and females is unknown, especially by rural communities so hatching failures often occur. This study aims to determine the ratio of male and female to fertility, egg hatchability and egg hatching weight of native chicken. The experiment was carried out using 8 males and 60 females as elders, and divided into four treatments and two replications with the ratio of males and females, A (1:5); B (1:7); C (1:9); D (1:11), Continued hatching of 120 eggs with 15 treatments each. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance in Completely Randomized Design (CRD). If between treatments showed significant differences, it was continued with the Honestly Significant Difference test (BNJ). The results showed that the highest fertility was in group B (96.66) and the lowest in group D (56.66). The highest hatchability was in group B (96.66) and the lowest in group D (56.66). The highest hatching weights were in group B (23.18) and the lowest in group D (21.33). This study can be concluded that the ferlititas, hatchability of eggs is much better in group B and the hatching weight of native chicken eggs is much better in group B.

Abstract

Laying hens raised in Merauke are generally medium-type leghorns with their characteristic brown feathers, two-year-old laying hens have decreased egg production because the chickens have entered the rejected period. Chicken is said to be rejected because the chicken has experienced a molting period twice and also has a period of decreased egg production. Efforts to improve the quality of production as well as eggs from medium type chicken rejects include giving herbal medicine. Improving the quality of production and the quality of eggs can not be separated from the condition of the chicken reproductive organs, herbal plants function to increase the fertility of the reproductive organs because they contain carotene and tocopherol which function to increase the fertility of the reproductive organs of one type of plant such as red fruit (Pandanus conoideus). The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of herbal medicine to improve the quality of egg protein, fat and cholesterol in laying hens. This research method was conducted experimentally using 26-month-old laying hens as many as 36 heads, with normal feeding and drinking provision divided into 4 treatments and 3 replications, so there were 12 units, each unit consisting of 3 chickens. Data were analyzed anovaally and continued with duncan test, calculations using SPSS 21 software. The results showed that the use of herbal herbal medicine in drinking water for fat and cholesterol protein had decreased but was not significant. The conclusion of this research is the supplementation of herbal herbal medicine in laying hens of medium type rejects does not affect the quality of eggs, namely protein, fat and cholesterol. The content of quality protein, fat and cholesterol is still in normal levels.

Abstract

The potential of PO cattle in Merauke is quite high, this is the basis for the government to establish Merauke as one of the regions in eastern Indonesia as a center for beef cattle breeding. Efforts to increase population are carried out by utilizing reproductive technology in the form of artificial insemination (IB). IB failure can be caused by a number of factors including low quality of semen, unskilled inseminators and inaccurate detection of lust. The low quality factor of frozen semen can be caused by the post thawing process which affects the motility and viability. Therefore this study aims to determine the effect of different temperatures in the field on the quality of post thawing semen. The method used in the form of macroscopic test of semen quality includes Motility, viability and abnormality The results showed that the thawing process with a temperature of 38oC for 30 seconds was the best time and the percentage of spermatozoa motility and viability reached 65.2% ± 0.5 and 72.2% ± 0.4. The conclusion of this study is that the best temperature in the post thawing process for PO frozen semen is 38oC for 30 seconds, and this result is normal in accordance with Indonesian national standards for frozen semen.

Abstract

Eggs are a food source of poultry animal sources of animal protein that has a delicious taste, easy to digest and highly nutritious. The highest value of eggs is in the yolk, the yolk contains essential amino acids, minerals such as iron, phosphorus and a little calcium and vitamin B complex badly needed by the human body. The weakness of salted eggs is that they have perishable properties so they need to be preserved to maintain their quality. One method used to maintain the quality of salted eggs is the addition of deer fat so that it can improve the taste and have a long shelf life. This research was carried out using quantitative methods and laboratory testing for microbiological observations in a descriptive manner. The results of this study indicate that administration of different deer fat 0.3ml, 0.5ml, 0.7ml from each treatment during 2, 4 and 6 weeks storage. Provision of 0.7 ml deer fat in 4 weeks storage produced good quality in terms of color, texture and ash in salted eggs and no salmonella bacteria were found.

Abstract

Animal diseases that are quite detrimental are worm parasitic diseases, so there is a need for herbal treatments. One of the natural ingredients used as an anthelmintic is Mayana Leaves (Solenostemon scutellarioides (L)). Mayana leaves (Solenostemon scutellarioides (L)) also contain tannins. In the past few years, there have been developments related to the use of tannins as an anti-melting agent. This study is to determine the extent of Mayana leaf's ability (Solenostemon scutellarioides (L)) which is used as an anti-parasitic treatment in livestock. The data processing and analysis techniques used in this study are historical methods using primary and secondary sources as the object of research and testing of mayana leaf tannin (Solenostemon scutellarioides, L.). The variable observed is anthelmintic. Mayana leaves (Solenostemon scutellarioides, L.) contain tannins, saponins, steroids, terpenoids, flavonoids and essential oils. The ability of tannins Mayana leaves (Solenostemon scutellarioides, L.) can inhibit the growth of microorganisms or enzyme activity and damage the membrane. Worm membranes are damaged because tannins cause paralytic worms that eventually die. Giving Mayana leaves (Solenostemon scutellarioides, L.) with 1.19% tannin content can be used as an anthelmintic for worm parasites
