Al Munir Journal of Islamic Communication and Broadcasting is open access and peer review of journals published by the Communication and Islamic Broadcasting Study Program of the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication Sciences, Imam Bonjol Padang State Islamic University (UIN). This journal covers actual issues in Islamic communication studies, including the development of contemporary da'wah by utilizing media, Islamic information systems, rhetoric, literature, and government policies regarding broadcasting and information regulation. The purpose of this journal is to promote sharing of knowledge and understanding of communication issues. Then receive contributions from experts, researchers, practitioners and policy makers throughout the world. This journal is published periodically twice a year, precisely in January - June and July - December.

Abstract

The level of work motivation is based on two aspects which are indicators, namely motivator factors and health or maintenance factors. The motivator factor is a factor or situation that can encourage achievement and intrinsic in nature that comes from within the da'i itself. This motivator factor relates to opportunities for achievement, opportunities to gain recognition, advances, opportunities in the work itself, personal improvement or development and opportunities to obtain responsibility. While hygiene / sanitation factors are extrinsic factors which are derived from outside the preacher, but also determine the behavior of preachers in carrying out their work and related to the environment in which the work is carried out. Hygiene factors will provide satisfaction (satisfies) if these factors are met, on the contrary if it is not fulfilled it will cause dissatisfaction (dissatisfaction) which will cause demands for the da'i.

Abstract

The dynamics of religious encounter in Minangkabau with this culture are sometimes manifested as resistance from the local culture towards Islam and foreign culture (as a new culture), but many of them can blend without having to show resistance from one element, both because of the original cultural factors is dynamic and adaptive to the new culture and because of the adjustment made by Islam and foreign culture which at that time was positioned as a new culture. Almost all religions cannot be separated from the culture in which religion arises and develops. The acceptance of Islam and foreign cultures in the Minangkabau community certainly passed through various stages of the process, such as the process of acculturation, assimilation, diffusion, and so on. Islamic encounters and various cultures with adat in Minangkabau in transmigration areas are expressed in several forms: first, Islam and various kinds of culture can be integrated into socio-cultural-religious expressions, thus giving birth to an assimilative Islamic tradition. Second, Islam and cultural are not integrated, but also do not trigger conflict and conflict, resulting in an acculturative Islamic tradition. Third, varied Islam and cultural contradict each other, whether or not they cause conflict or not.

Abstract

This article reports on concerns about hoax news, radicalism has spread on social media (social media). This concern surfaced when the hoax spread to boil down to utterances of hatred. This article aims to find out hoaxes on social media then look for solutions. The research method used is framing analysis conducted by gathering all the contents of the news about hoaxes and radicalism. This study analyzes and concludes eight news themes about: 1) Term of social media and radicalism. 2) The use of social media in spreading radical viruses. 3) Highlight social media irregularities. 4) Hoax War, encourage online media verification. 5) Social media and environmental health. 6) Our hoaxes and Indonesianness. 7) Dispelling hoax outbreaks, 8) Hoax outbreaks; false news on social media.

Abstract

Da’wah activities cannot be separated from the role of language. Da'wah is a process of delivering messages or information to others by using language as a means of delivering it. Many da'wah messages do not reach the public because of the failure to use the language in delivering it. The language used is not communicative so the message to be conveyed is not well understood by the audience. Because of the failure to use language, the da'wah presented feels dry, arid, and tasteless. Once the importance of language in the development of da'wah, the language used as the means of introduction needs to be considered well. Especially preaching delivered verbally, besides the language factor, there are other things that also play an important role in determining the success of da'wah. It is the speaker or the person who delivered the mission. In connection with the description above, this paper will discuss the following matters; What is the role of language in the development of da'wah.

Abstract

This research is done toward a die-hard fan of a Korean phenomenon boyband named 2PM. The purpose of this research is to discover how masculinity being constructed by a teenage girl fan of 2PM by considering her background, lifestyle and media consumption. The data were collected by means of deep interview and observation. The output showed that the codes which related to masculinity were not always decoded exactly the same way. How a decoder decodes changed as a decoder exposed by the codes through media more intensely time after time. The implication of this research showed that there is several lack of fit between codes that encoded by the encoder and decoded by the decoder so that the identities within the codes were not identified.

Abstract

This article describes about the analysis of  the understanding of institutions of broadcasting radios in west sumatera to fulfill the need of social information. This research is based from the phenomenon in the field showing the decrease of social interest in listening to a radio closed by the modernization of mass communication.  To reveal the reality in the field, this research used constructive paradigm, qualitative methods and case study approach. The research data was collected by interviewing 5 key informen and documentation study. Based on the result of analysis in the field in completing the need of social information, the researcher concluded as followed: (1) Radios in West Sumatera comprehend the 3 functions of communication in fulfilling social information needs: (a) information, (b) social learning, and (c) entertainment. That was seen from the constructions of the broadcasting programs produced; (2) In the effort of fulfilling the need of information, radios conduct surveys, observations and researches of the market that need information; and (3) Radio broadcasting board of West Sumatera comprehends that in information dissemination KPID of West Sumatera is the regulator taking roll in supervising the broadcasting programs and any kinds of violations than by the radios.

Abstract

Radio is the oldest and most flexible electronic mass media. The new media as mentioned has resulted in the radio being abandoned by the audience and turning to choosing new media as information and entertainment. Survey conducted by a Nielsen survey institute in 2014, stated that every year radio listeners decreased by 3%. The purpose of this study is to find out and explain the motives and satisfaction of the Dhara FM radio listeners in the city of Pariaman in listening to radio in the new media era. This study uses descriptive quantitative research methods. Describe systematically, factually, and accurately about the facts and nature of the population and try to describe phenomena in detail. The data source is a questionnaire. The analysis used is descriptive analysis.  Results that can be taken from this study are entertainment motives and the motives of interaction and social integration have a significant influence in influencing the satisfaction of the Dhara FM radio listeners Pariaman. Satisfaction obtained by listeners can be seen from the persistence of radio listeners in listening to the radio. Motives have a strong enough influence to achieve listener satisfaction.

Abstract

Guidance for democracy and national patriotism, both political and social, has become a universal agenda among the components of civil society (Civil Society), almost all parts of the world cannot be separated from the global guidance of this democracy, including Indonesia. In everyday political and social life, social behavior and political practice of the community are still often carried out with actions that are far from the noble values of Pancasila and democracy. Democracy which is a commitment of the reform movement is still filled with a culture of corruption and collusion committed by the community and officials. They want to be formal leaders and leaders of community and professional organizations. According to the author, the values of the principles of democracy can actually be practiced through the study of humanist democracy in higher education courses which are expected to be a laboratory to implement democratic principles that are integrated with the principles and values of universal democracy with the values of Pancasila

Abstract

This study focuses on the use of social media in fulfilling information needs by students of the Da'wah and Communication Sciences Faculty at UIN Imam Bonjol Padang. This study uses Information Seeking theory applied by Wilson. According to Wilson, the information needs as a consequence of a need felt by information users who expect their needs to be fulfilled, then search for information through sources and information services which result in success or failure to find information and choose to use that information or make comparisons information that has been found before. The research method used is quantitative descriptive and questionnaire as a data collection technique. From the results of questionnaires to 93 respondents consisting of 2015, 2016 and 2017 Da'wah and Communication Faculty Students, it was found that the level of information processing behavior through social media in meeting information needs by Da'wah and Communication Sciences students was hight.

Abstract

The idea is basically humanist Islamic preaching, so it must be held within the framework of human interest. Islamic preaching is the process of humanization, human pemanusiaan process. Humanization core awareness is a process-oriented to optimization potential and human values that exist in human beings. Therefore it is necessary that the dynamic preaching. The humanist Islamic preaching -oriented identity formation humane man with peace, wisdom, wisdom and justice. Islamic preaching humanistic approach emphasizes the importance of persuasion with respect to the humanitarian aspects of psychological, sociological, anthropological, cultural and educational in preaching. The humanist Islamic preaching is to educate, enlighten, educate and awaken people as manuasia noble, superior, respectable and dignified.
