Abstract

This study is aimed at increasing mastery on the history of teaching values of Abu Bakar and Umar Bin Khattab, the emperor after Nabi Muhammad.  The study uses classroom action research as the design to implement the same age tutor through story telling techniques.  Using two cycles, this study assignes teh sixth grade students of SDN 005 Botang as research subject.  This study discovers that learning actuivities increase and the average score increases from 6,5 to 8.2.  The participations and involvements during the learning process also increase so that the study is finished in the second cycle.  This study proves that using the same-age tutor to teach haracters of Abu Bakar and Umar as kulafaur rasyidin is favorable.

Abstract

This paper describes innovation of lietarure teaching in Germanic for SMA students.   Curriculum change has an immense effort for teachers to promote adaptation on their teaching.  In the 2013 Curriculum for SMA, in this context of analysis, innovation for teaching materials and teaching methods used are required as the inquiry based teaching is prominent in this context. The problems of curriculum innovation requires teachers creativity in terms of instructional designs, including: syllabus, lesson plan, teaching materials, methos of teaching and assessment.  This paper argues that innovation in teaching Germany for SMA students should start from the instructional design that puts emphases on teaching materials and teaching methods using for exapmle: project-based teaching, inquiry-based teaching.

Abstract

This study is aimed at seeing the effectiveness of Guided Discovery teaching techniques to improve learning activity and learning mastery on science subject, entitled the World and the Globe.  The study uses classroom action research with two cycles. Each cycle in this study implements two meeting to do the actions.  The subject of this study is the sixth grade students of SDN 004 Bontang whose number is 44 students. Data were collected using observation and test.  This study discovers that learning activities improve from the first to the second cycle individually and in group.  In addition, the mastery on the subject matter also increases from the lower to the higher. At the end of the cycle, 90,01% students achieve improvement.  This means that Guided Discovery teaching techniques  to improve students activity and the mastery is proved in this study.

Abstract

 This study describes success factors and obstacles of implementation of 2013 Curriculum at Islamic Senior Schools (Madrasah Aliyah). This study used qualitative approach.  Data were collected using participatory observation, in-depth interview, Focus Group Discussion, and document analyses. Subject consisted of: school principal, vice principal, students, students’ parents, and school committee each of which was selected using snowball sampling techniques.  Data were triangulated using process of checking, recheck and cross-check.  The research revealed that: (1) success factors of implementation were: (a) completeness of curriculum infrastructure, (b) teacher competency, (c) principal leadership, (d) school facilities, (e) school environment and culture, and (f) effectiveness of monitoring and evaluation of curriculum inplementation;  (2) obstacles of implementation included: false perception upon new 2013 curriculum, and shorts implementation on  instructional design, classroom teaching, assessments, application of IT, teaching facilities and school management.

Abstract

Education problems in remore areas in the border province at Central Kalimantan have long been identified but minor policy has been induced to solve.  This paper anylize practices to overcome problems all stakeholders may tparticipate though a concept of negotiation of education empowerment.  Basically, education problems in Central Kalimantan include: isolated and remoted area, low perception on education impact for children,  low societal participation on education, paucityof education nuancein public areas,  low social-economy of hinterland people, short number of teachers assigned in hinterland areas, ineffective menagement of teachers distribution and control.  At the secondary and senior level, availablity of SMP and SMA schools nearby has been crucial to solve.  Negotiation among stakeholders to overcome the basic education problems are required to facilitate facilities, empowerment, participations, and involvments of community, parents, schildren and traditional head, and government.

Abstract

 This article describes education position in the perspective of functional-structure.  The researcher evaluated and compared various literatures including empirical sources from reseaches as document for review.  Primary data were obtained from recent literatures searching in December 2015.  Data were verified and discussed in a round table discussion and peer-debriefers, involving Islamic teachers team.  Revisions were made after round tablediscussion aspiring comments and suggestions from the forums. The findings or analysis showed that (1) functional-structure theory focuses on social integration, social stability,  value concencus emphasizing harmony perspective and equalibrium, and (2) Education in the functional-structure perspective is encouraged in line with social harmony, equality, and concencus among society to transform social values.

Abstract

 This study reports performance of lecturers of Serang Raya University (UNSERA) measured using scorecard balanced approach.  This study used survey method describing findings in numerical data and narrative data each of which was incurred in four perspective measures: finance, students’ satisfaction, business, and growth and instruction. Data were collected using questionnaire, documents, and Focus Group Discussion.  The study revealed that description of research and social charity in 2011-2014, (1) finance perspectives showed that lecturer incurred small attainment as lecturers received small amount of donor provided by other institutions;   (2) a significant increase was achieved in perspectives of growth and instruction in that lecturers were motivated to conduct researches and improved teaching-learning performances; (3) in all, lecturer performance of UNSERA was good, indicated by the increase of journal articles published in national and international journals.

Abstract

  The objective of this study is to see effectiveness of problem based reading materials to improve critical thinking skills, problem solving skills, and learning outcomes. The study used experimental study of One-Group Pretest-Posttest design assigning 25 students of VIII graders of SMPN 25 Malang as sample. Data were collected using observation, test, and questionnaire. The study revealed that (1) students ability of critical thinking improved after implementation of problem solving skills, as indicated by n-gain score in positive manner with average 0.7 in high criteria; (2) students problem solving skills improved seen in n-gain score with positive value and average 0.4 based upon enough criteria; (3) student improvement seen by the classical completeness improved up to 100%.

Abstract

 Abd. Rahman Azahari   This study describes constraints affecting social sport as material culture received minor perception for young generation and the sport is left in modern information technology.  This study used grounded research emphasizing an indepth data analysis to achieve wise phenomenon.  Data were collected using participatory observation and indepth interviews.  Two traditional Dayak sports in Central Kalimantan were observed:  menyipet (to blow with a pipe) and balago in January to July 2015, involving sport organization heads, cultural heads, sport teachers, coaches, and athletes as informants.  Data were analyzed using open coding, axial coding and selective coding from Strauss and Corbin.  The study revealed: (1) internal problems include: monotonous rules of the games, no more funs, hard to train, and do not serve to earn money; (2)  external problems include:  lack of coordination between government offices, limited invitation games,  complex government regulation and policy, restricted facilities for traditional sports.

Abstract

  This paper describes lesson presentation to improve teachers’ skills in classroom interactions. Lesson presentation or teaching to transfer is skills a teaher should demonstrate to enhance and convince students on a concept.  It helps students identify material context, guides students to summarize, and broadens thinking skills through reflection and teacher giude. This paper argues in Indonesian language teaching, lesson presentation improves if teachers implement text structures in a variety of genres.  The way teachers are formally trapped into teacher-centered that teacher talks dominate will be minimized using lesson presentation of  appropriate contexts.  Presentation should be temporary, at the beginning, at the core, or at the closing encouraging fluency in appropriate exposures.  Equipped with compsite texts,  lesson presentation signifies beneficials for teaching skills.
