Abstract

Lectures during the COVID-19 period at various universities worldwide and in Indonesia were specifically held online. However, this system faces serious problems, such as delays in students punctuality to the provided platform, and failure to complete assignments on time. Therefore, this study aims to analyze students' perceptions of the online lecture system during the COVID-19 period. It was conducted using a mixed-method approach, and the quantitative data were collected using surveys, while the qualitative were obtained using interviews, observations, and documentation. The results showed that the students responded negatively to the four aspects examined on the lecture system. This indicates that the online lecture system has not been fully implemented in Indonesia.

Abstract

High-order thinking skills require people not only to remember what they have learned but to analyze and evaluate the information, and later create, use, and maximize the information. The objectives of the study is  to analyze the effect of  Jigsaw and CIRC Method on enhancing students’ reading HOTS in terms of different self-efficacy levels. This study implemented mixed methods. The study was conducted at the eleventh grade of SMAN 11 Bandung. Two classes with purposive sampling were participated in this study. The instrument were reading HOTS test supported by classroom observation.  Quantitative data were analyzed by Shapiro Wilk and Levene Test, continued by Wilcoxon Test, paired t-test, one-way ANOVA, two-way ANOVA, Mann Whitney test, and Pearson Chi-Square test, whereas the qualitative data were analyzed by content and thematic analysis.   The data revealed that the implementation of the Jigsaw Method was only effective on enhancing students' reading HOTS in low self-efficacy levels and could not enhance students' reading HOTS in moderate and high self-efficacy levels. Whereas, the implementation of the CIRC Method was not effective on enhancing students' reading HOTS in low, moderate, and high self-efficacy levels

Abstract

This research explained of the trend of “Independent Learning Independent Campus” by using bibliometrics’ mapping in 2010-2021. This study aims to analyze students’ perception of the technical, process and evaluation learning of the Independent Learning-Independent Campus. This study is a descriptive with a quantitative approach. The research method used qualitative research. The research method is qualitative approach through VOS viewer. The object of the research were students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Enrekang who participated. The instrument used is in the form of a questionnaire distributed via website. The results obtained from this study are: 1) Students’ perception of technical indicators in MBKM learning are positive; they don’t experience signal problems and can access MBKM learning easily; 2) Students’ perception of learning process indicators in MBKM learning on average are positive; students can understand MBKM learning materials through discussions and communication between lecturers and students goes well; 3) Students’ perception of evaluation indicators in MBKM learning on average are positive; students can do midterm and final exam well independently and students are satisfied with the implementation of MBKM learning so they are interested in following it again in the next semester, but students feel that MBKM learning is not optimal because it is done online.

Abstract

This research focuses on the process of establishing the Academic hardiness of the Aisyiyah Boarding School (ABM) high school students during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a form of one's firmness in facing academic challenges during the pandemic, Academic hardiness has an important position to be studied comprehensively and in-depth, especially in terms of students' academic resilience as study subjects. This research is based on Kobasa's Academic Hardiness Theory (AHT) and uses a qualitative approach to obtain descriptive data, observable behavior, and verbal data. Data collection methods used non-participant observation techniques, virtual interviews, and documentation studies. The data collected was then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana. The conclusion of this research states that the academic hardiness of ABM students is formed through habituation activities in Islamic education. Empirically, the three cognitive evaluation processes (commitment, control, and challenge) are related to students' persistence when dealing with difficult e-learning designs. The implication of the results of the analysis of the process of forming the academic hardiness of students at ABM is the birth of new creations in improving the quality of Islamic education learning through optimizing the cognitive evaluation process of students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of applying problem-based learning with a STEM approach integrated with local culture (STEM-PBL-local culture) on improving creative thinking and problem-solving skills and determine the relationship between creative thinking and problem-solving skills. This research is an experimental study with a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. A total of 72 prospective teachers who attended introductory chemistry courses at teacher education institutions were selected by purposive sampling. The test instrument is validated open-ended questions. Data analysis used an independent t-test. Pearson's product-moment correlation test is used to determine the relationship between problem-solving and creative thinking skills. The results show significant differences between the experimental and control groups. Students in the experimental group who received STEM-PBL-local culture experienced an improvement in creative thinking and problem-solving skills in the medium category, while the control group experienced an improvement in the low category. The Pearson product-moment correlation test shows that creative thinking and problem-solving skills have a significant relationship with a high level of correlation.

Abstract

Artificial intelligence is a system with the nature of human intelligence that can automatically provide knowledge and information to create intelligent applications to make it easier to solve problems such as problem-solving, speech recognition, and learning. This research was investigated to find out and understand the relationship of intelligence between educators and students in applying artificial intelligence in universities. The method used is a phenomenological type of qualitative method. This research was conducted at Nurul Jadid University (UNUJA), with the subject of research being PAI lecturers and students in semester V. This research phase was carried out by preliminary studies, observation, data collection (interviews), data verification, and drawing conclusions. As for the results of this study, in its application, artificial intelligence in universities has a positive and negative impact on the relationship of intelligence to learning when it is carried out outside conventional learning. The intelligence relationship between educators and students, which includes Intelligence Quotient (IQ), Emotional Quotient (EQ), and Spiritual Quotient (SQ) contained in it, is also a positive thing that coexists and is directed.

Abstract

In 2018, the Indonesian Ministry of Education issued a new policy related to the development of learning oriented towards a Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) approach at the primary and secondary school levels. This learning development is expected to be able to improve the achievement of Indonesian students in international competitions such as PISA and TIMSS. This program was developed following the policy direction of the Ministry of Education and Culture which in 2018 has integrated Strengthening Character Education and learning oriented to ‘HOTS’. Recently, the program is integrated into the MBKM program, where Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) a university that produces educators decides to take a role in developing HOTS. This study aims to identify teacher skills in developing lesson plans and HOTS-oriented assessments. This is a case study research. A mixed-method design was used in this study as a way to analyse the teacher training process and the outcomes of the training. The sample of this research is science teacher at the sample school in Bandung. The results of the study show that the development skills of teachers' lesson plans are in the intermediate category, but not all lesson plans describe activities on ‘intermediate’ category. Therefore, further training and coaching is needed.
