Abstract

English for Specific Purposes (ESP) taught at Higher Education Institution (HEI) is a kind of course for students majoring other than English. The descriptive research conducted in one of HEI in Pekanbaru, Riau, involved 65 students majoring in Computer Science of that institution. The data gathered by observation and interviews. This research aimed to find out what were the causes of students' weaknesses in English writing skills, for those were the primary problem that they have compared to other English skills. It was revealed those students had 1) low competence in General English (GE) based on CEFR, 2) had a problem with writing, even in their first language, 3) tendency in taking advantage of Google Translate without further checking, 4) lack of knowledge on lexical choice, sentence construction and the structure of writing, 5) limited practicing time and opportunity.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the analyses of errors that students make in solving Linear Inequality. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method. Questions were given to 3 students of Mathematic program of Pahlawan University. The data collection techniques in this study were the results of students' written tests and the results of interviews related to the results of students' written tests. Based on the results of the research conducted, it is known that the types of student mistakes math in solving the linear inequality problem are: a) Conceptual errors making graphic error solution, error in using the concept of a variable that will be used, identify what is asked and choosing error symbol, and b) Procedural errors include: error in choosing the strategy to be used in problem solving, error in apply strategy to solve the problem and error in viewing return what is the solution obtained is in accordance with what known and asked. Based on the result, the students should be given a meaningful learning to not only memorize the formula but also solve the linear inequality.

Abstract

Curriculum 2013 mandated that learning process in Elementary School should be carried out with an integrated thematic approach.  Despite of it is being tested this year; the implementation of an integrated thematic learning model requires serious effort and creativity of teachers with various forms of new innovations. Context analysis conducted in the SD (Elementary School) 08 Surau Gadang Nanggalo Padang as objects and implementation of product testing research grant competition revealed that teachers' understanding of the concept and implementation of assessment of spiritual and social attitudes have not been satisfied.  Teachers’ inappropriate competence in the evaluation of spiritual and social attitudes had negative impact on the students’ achievement of first core competencies (KI1) and second core competencies (KI2) as they constitutes major focus in the character-based curriculum.  Data of this study were collected by using interview and documentation; they were finally preceded through descriptive qualitative analysis. The results of this study reveal that there were four models of assessment that can be performed in the evaluation of spiritual attitudes and social attitudes namely (1) self evaluation, (2) observation of teachers, (3) peer assessment, and (4) daily journal.Copyright © 2014 by Al-Ta'lim All right reservedDOI: 10.15548/jt.v21i1.67

Abstract

Masalah utama dalam penelitian tindakan kelas ini adalah supervisi pelaksanaan pembelajaran, terlihat bahwa pada umumnya catatan yang diperoleh oleh guru untuk memperbaiki pengelolaan kelas, penilaian dan keterlibatan siswa dalam pembelajaran. Hal tersebut dapat dilihat dari hasil wawancara yang diidentifikasi nilai rata-rata kompetensi dan pengelolaan kelas guru yang masih rendah. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SD 06 Ranah Kecamatan IV Koto Kabupaten Agam dengan subjek penelitian adalah guru kelas yang mengajar di Sekolah Dasar Negeri 06 Ranah Kecamatan IV Koto yang berjumlah7 orang. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini adalah secara deskripsi kuantitatif, dan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian terlihat pada lembar observasi pengelolaan kelas pada siklus I dan siklus II berada dalam kategori cukup baik. Sedangkan berdasarkan hasil tes siklus I untuk pengelolaan kelas oleh guru adalah 70, Sedangkan pada siklus II guru yang tuntas untuk pengelolaan kelas bernilai 77. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa dengan menggunakan microteaching dapat meningkatan pengelolaan kelas dan penilaian guru.

Abstract

Permasalahan yang ditemukan di SDN 34 Saning Bakar Kecamatan X Koto Singkarak adalah pertama, melemahnya peran guru dalam mengantarkan peserta didiknya untuk mencapai prestasi dalam acara-acara tertentu. Sehingga guru dalam meningkatkan prestasi siswa cenderung menurun, bahkan kadangkala tanpa target, yang penting melaksanakan tugas dari pimpinan. Kedua adalah kinerja guru SDN 34 Saning Bakar Kecamatan X Koto Singkarak termasuk belum menunjukkan kompetensi profesionalisme seorang pendidik, hal ini terlihat dari kedisiplinan guru-guru yang sering meninggalkan jam pelajaran dengan alasan tertentu, misalnya mengerjakan tugas tambahan bukan tugas pokok atau utama sebagai guru. Penelitian ini mengambil bentuk penelitian tindakan sekolah yaitu peningkatan kinerja guru dengan teknik kunjungan kelas dalam rangka mengimplementasikan standar proses, yang terdiri dari 2 siklus dan masing-masing siklus terdiri dari 4 tahap yaitu : (1) tahap perencanaan program tindakan, (2) pelaksanaan program tindakan, (3) pengamatan program, (4) refleksi. Berdasarkan menghasilkan awalnya hanya 30,17, pada siklus I naik menjadi 40,17, pada siklus II menjadi 57,17 dan pada silus III menjadi 74,50.Terjadi peningkatan kemampuan melaksanakan pembelajaran guru kelas di SDN 34 Saning Bakar setelah diterapkannya supervisi kunjungan kelas dari nilai awal 29,73, pada siklus I naik menjadi 44,33 pada siklus II naik menjadi 55,33 dan pada siklus III menjadi 77,67.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the validity, practicality, and an effectiveness of LKPD with the theme of growth and development of living things using the Blended Learning model in integrated thematic learning in grade III elementary school.This research is included in research and development (Research and Development) with the ADDIE model. Collecting data using observations, questionnaires, written tests and interviews and then analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively.This research produces a teaching material in the form of LKPD based on the Blended Learning model on the Theme of Growth and Development of Living Things, data analysis shows that the LKPD based on the Blended Learning model on the Theme of Growth and Development of living things is effective and interesting in learning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi rendahnya hasil belajar siswa pada pembelajaran PKn di kelas VI SDN 12 Koto Balingka Kabupaten Pasaman Barat, disebabkan guru kurang memfariasikan model pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan keaktifan siswa baik secara individual maupun kelompok, Tujuan penelitian mendeskipsikan peningkatan proses pembelajaran PKn dengan menggunakan model Cooverative Learning tipe Numbered Heads Together (NHT) Pada siswa kelas VI SDN 12 Koto Balingka Kabupaten Pasaman Barat. Penelitian ini menggunakan PTK dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan kuantitatif, penelitian ini dilaksanakan 2 siklus dimana siklus I terdiri atas II kali pertemuan dan siklus II setiap siklus dilaksananan 2 kali pertemuan yang terdiri dari 2 kali pertemuan dan siklus II satu kali pertemuan. Hasil penelitian terlihat bahwa dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe NHT dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar PKn siswa. Hasil peningkatan RPP siklus I PT I 82,14%, siklus I PT II 85,71%, siklus II 92,85%. Hasil peningkatan pelaksanaan pembelajaran dari aspek guru siklus I PT I 70,83%, aspek siswa 66,67%, PT II aspek guru 79,17%, siswa 79,16%, dan siklus II dari aspek guru 95,83%, siswa 91,67%. Hasil belajar siswa pada aspek afektif 71 serta pada aspek psikomotor 72 dan aspek kognitif untuk penilaian hasil pada siklus I diperoleh nilai 71 (64%) dan terjadi peningkatan hasil belajar siswa pada siklus II yaitu pada aspek afektif dengan nilai rata-rata 86 serta pada aspek psikomotor 87 dan aspek kognitif diperoleh nilai 88 (92%).

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and describe the educational role of the Tauh Dance in the Kenduri Sko traditional ritual, as well as answer why the Tauh Dance is returned to be cultivated in the Pulau Sangkar village community. This research method is descriptive qualitative. The research location is in the village of Pulau Sangkar, and the research informants are indigenous peoples, traditional stakeholders, artists, and related governments. The research instrument was the researcher himself as key instrument, assisted by observation and interview guidelines. Data was collected through interviews, observations, literature studies, and documentation. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman's pattern, namely collecting data, reducing data, presenting data, testing data, and concluding the results of data analysis. This study's findings explain that the Tauh Dance has a close relationship with the Kenduri Sko traditional ritual, and the Tauh Dance acts as a means of connecting between the real world and the supernatural world, namely humans and the ancestral spirits of the Sangkar Island community. The Tauh Dance plays a role in providing an overview of the characteristics of the candidate for the governor to be elected in the Kenduri Sko ritual, through the visible expressions of the Dance' movements and expressions. With the reason that the Tauh Dance is a cultural heritage as well as a cultural identity that must be maintained, the Tauh Dance can be returned to its position as a cultural tradition by the people of Pulau Sangkar village.

Abstract

This study aims to produce a guided inquiry-based learning multimedia that is valid, practical, and effective so that it is suitable for use by teachers and students in the learning process.This research belongs to the research and development cluster using the 4D model, namely define, design, develop, and disseminate. The define stage consists of curriculum analysis, student analysis, media analysis and analysis of subject objectives. The Design phase is carried out by designing learning media. The development stage is carried out through validity testing by validators and practicality tests, effectiveness by class VII students at SMP N 2 Kota Pariaman and the last is dissemination or dissemination in the form of media that will be distributed to schools at SMP Negeri 2 Kota Pariaman. Based on the research that has been done at SMP N 2 Kota Pariaman, it has been successfully made learning multimedia. The results of the validity test of the material and media aspects show that the resulting media is very valid, namely, with a score of 148 with an average material validity value of 93.54% and a score of 131 with an average media validity of 87.91%. Meanwhile, students' responses to the products developed were very practical with an average of 94.67% and to measure the level of achievement of student learning outcomes before and after using the media showed tcount > ttable so that the effectiveness trial showed an increase in learning process skills. It can be concluded that the multimedia developed in this study is suitable for use in the learning process.

Abstract

Ada perubahan motivasi belajar siswa setelah terjadinya fenomena Covid-19. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi siswa mengenai pembelajaran daring dan luring, serta kaitannya dengan motivasi belajar siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Desain penelitian ini merupakan deskriptif dengan pendekatan wawancara untuk mengetahui persepsi siswa mengenai pembelajaran daring dan luring serta kaitannya dengan motivasi belajar siswa. Hasil analisis pada penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa hampir semua siswa setuju jika pada pembelajaran daring mereka lebih santai. Namun, pembelajaran daring membuat mereka cepat merasa bosan, tidak menarik, dan kurang bersemangat. Pada pembelajaran luring, siswa memiliki motivasi yang sangat besar karena bisa belajar bersama teman. Hal itu menunjukkan reaksi negatif siswa berupa bercerita atau bermain dengan teman ketika guru menerangkan materi pembelajaran. Siswa juga mudah bosan dalam belajar, efek terbiasa santai ketika belajar daring. Mengetahui persepsi siswa tersebut diharapkan guru mampu menciptakan pembelajaran luring yang menyenangkan dan melibatkan lebih banyak aktivitas siswa bersama temannya.
