Abstract

This   research   is   aimed   to   get   the   effect   of   electrode   surface   area   and   electrolyteconcentration  due  to  gas  volume  flow  rate  of  water  electrolysis.  The  surface  area  is  varied  as19.264 mm2, 38.528 mm2  and 57.792 mm2. The KOH electrolyte concentration is varied as 5 gram,10  gram,  15  gram,  20  gram,  and  25  gram  in  a  litre  aquades.  The  experiment  is  conduct  in  an electrolyzer.  HHO  gas  is  flowed  pass  trough  an  orifice  for  volume  flow  rate  measurement.  The research shows that the increase surface area and electrolyte concentration tend to increase gasvolume flow rate. The maximum gas volume flow rate happened at 57792 mm2  surface area and25 gram  KOH  electrolyte  concentration  which  is  0,00123  m3/det.  The  minimum  gas  volume  flow rate  happened  at  19264  mm2   surface  area  and  5  gram  KOH  electrolyte  concentration  0,00045 m3/det.

Abstract

Pipe  network  is  common  instalation  in  daily  life.  Elbow  is  a  component  in  pipe  network.This research is aimed to get fluida flow behavior in elbow. The experiment is conduct with fluid flow apparatus with number of elbows. The apparatus consist ¾ inch diameter of PVC pipe and a pump which generate water flow and pressure. Volume flow rate is vary by valve opening which are ¼, ½, ¾ and full open. The flow rate is measured using flow meter and a stopwatch.This flow rate is used to get Reynold number. The pressure before and after elbow are measured using U tipe manometer. The measurement takes 5 times at 5 measurement points. The result shows that fluid  flow  tend  to  have  pressure  decreasing.  Much  elbow  number  caused  greater  pressure decreasing.  The  maximum  pressure  occur  at  Re  3049,60  at  first  point  measurement  which  is592,52 kg/m2. The minimum pressure occur at Re 1532,45 at fifth point measurement which is 8,18 kg/m2.

Abstract

Technology   development   has   negative   impact   for   convensional  automotive   product.Electronic  system  has  lower  exhaust  emission  than  convensional  system.  Convensional  system still can develop in order to minimize environmental risk. The development of convensional system can be done by changing the system into semi electronic. It is need an addition of CDI DC system and replacement of switch between pulser and trigger. Trigger must made at distributor shaft with high precision working. This research is aimed to develop convensional ignition system into semi electronic to increase the performance of automotive engine.

Abstract

Cooling  system  is  an  important  part  in  motorcycle.  Its  related  to  engine  performance. Radiatorcooling system can be applied in motorcycle. This research is aimed to get the effect of radiatoroil cooling system in Suzuki Shogun 110 c motorcycle.    The experiment that compare air cooling (standard system) with radiator cooling. Engine is running at1000, 1500, 2000 and 2500 rpm. Temperature measurement is done with K type thermocouple at 3 measurement points which are left side, right side and engine head. Measurement is done 3 times with 5 minutes interval using stopwatch. The result is used to get the  temperature average. The result shows that radiator oil cooling system has effect due to cooling performance. This system has better cooling performance than standard system.

Abstract

Carburator air filter is an important part in automotive fuel system. Air filter is technicallymodified to increase the performance. This research is aimed to get the effect of air filter type due to motorcycle engine performance. The research is done by experiment using Suzuki Shogun 110 cc motorcycle. Air filter is vary as no filter, standard filter and modified filter. The engine is running at  1000,  2000,  3000  and  4000  rpm.  The  rotations  are  measured  with  tachometer.  Time  of  fuel consumption is measured for 10 ml gasoline. Experiments are conducted 3 times. The data is use to  get  fuel  consumption  and  engine  efficiency.  The  research  shows  that  carburator  air  filter  has effect due to engine performance. Modified filter has better performance than standard filter and no filter.

Abstract

Bernoulli  theorem  can  applied  to  many  devices  such  as  ventury  tube  in  aoutomotivecarburetor, venturimeter, pitot tube, chimney and aeroplane wings. This research is aimed to get the effect of diameter ratio due to pressure different in Bernoulli theorem apparatus. The research is conduct by experiment using fluid flow circuit.  Diameter ratio is varied as 0,67; 0,50 and 0,33. Fluid flow rate is varied by valve opening arrangement as 45o, 60o, 90o. Measurements are done at7  measurement  point  by  U  type  manometer.  Volume  flow  rate  is  measured  by  flowmeter  and stopwatch.  The  research  shows  that  diameter  ratio  has  effect  due  to  pressure  changes.  theincrease  of  diameter  ratio  tend  to  increase  the  pressure.  Maximum  pressure  is  happen  at  0,67 diameter  ratio;  0,0192  lt/s  volume  flow  rate  at  first  measurement  point.  Minimum  pressure  is happen at 0,33 diameter ratio; 0,0247 lt/s volume flow rate at fifth measurement point.

Abstract

Motorcycle shock breaker consist a tube fill with oil. The oil volume determine the shock breaker performance to  reduce  shock  force.  This  research  is  aimed  to  get  the  effect  of  oil  air  ratio  due  to  motorcycle  shock  breaker performance. The research is done by determine the amplitude and frequency of the vibration which measure by roll paper recording. The oil volume is vary as 60, 70 and 80 ml. The oil pressure is measure with manometer. The pressure data is used to count pressure force based on telescopic cylinder area. The result shows that oil volume has effect due to shock breaker performance. The result also shows that oil volume has effect due to the vibration.

Abstract

Painting is surface treatment that aimed to protect the surface and to increase the material value by layering a material with more valuable one. This knowledge is known as surface coating knowledge. This research is aimed to get the effect of nozzle spray gun hole diameter and spray distance due to painting efficiency. The research is done by laboratory experiment. Spray distance vary as 15 cm, 17 cm, 20 cm, 22 cm and 25 cm. Nozzle diameter vary as 1; 1,5 and 2 mm. The data are taken for area product of the painting and the thickness of the layer by measuring the weight of the material. The experiment use Avian Sea Blue paint and 17 x 20 cm zinc plate. The data taken for 3 times. The result shows that spray distance has effect due to painting area. Closer distance tend to decrease the diameter. If the spray distance is too close, it can cause the paint melt. Otherwise, the longer distance cause the paint dry before its stick to the media.

Abstract

Banyuwangi has a potency as a fishery region. At certain season, the fish production has maximum number. Cold storage is a cooling apparatus which can be used to maintain fish freshness. This research is aimed to get the effect of buffle angle due to temperature distribution of small scale cold storage. The research conduct using model of cold storage with 40 cm length, 30 cm wide and 30 cm height. The model made from styrofoam material. Buffle angle vary as 40o, 50o  dan 60o. Volume flow cooling rate vary with fan voltage input as 6, 9 and 12 Volt. Temperature data are taken using K type thermocouple at 4 measurement points which positioned at the center of cold storage. The result shows that buffle angle has effect due to temperature distribution. The most efficient angle is 60o. The lowest temperature happen at 30 ml/s volume flow rate which is 16,3oC.

Abstract

Automotive technology development increase society need for transportation. It increase the demand of fossil fuel. This research is aimed to get the effect of magnetic field due to fuel consumption and engine performance. The experiment is done with Suzuki Smash 110 cc engine. Magnetic field is vary by electric current input as 1,2; 0,8 and 0,6 Ampere. The engine is running at 1750, 2000, 2250 and 2500 rpm. The result shows that the magnetic field has effect due to fuel consumption and engine performance. Magnetic field has lower fuel consumption and more thermal efficiency.
