Abstract

Pirolysis is thermochemical decomposition process of biomass into useful product. A method that can be used is a rotary kiln pirolyzer which consist a heating cylinder that rotate with a certain rotation speed. This research is aimed to get the effet of temperature due to char product quantity of switenia macrophylla rotary kiln pirolysis.The research is done by pirolysis experiment with 200 gram of switenia macrophylla in dust form. Temperature heating is varied 250 C, 350 C, 450 C, 500 C, dan 600 C. The heating temperature is provide by eletric heater with control system. Temperatur is measured with K type thermocouple. The heating process is taken for 180 minutes using stopwatch. The measurement is done for biomass and char volume using measuring cup. Mass is measured using scale. Low heating value is measured using bomb calorimeter.The result show that temperatur has effect due to char product of switenia macrophylla rotary kiln pirolysis. Char mass loss tend to increase due to temperature increasing. Low heating value and char porosity tend to increase due to mass loss percentage increasing. Shrinking factor and percentage of yield energy tend to decrease due to mass loss percentage increasing. Keywords: pirolysis, rotary kiln, char, temperature

Abstract

Banyuwangi, a district located in eastern end of Java island has batik as cultural herritage. Batik Banyuwangi as well as other batik has own characteristic according to the origin of the region. In the other side, Banyuwangi has a ethnics origin which is Osing ethnic with own character and local wisdom. Batik Banyuwangi is a kind of batik Pesisiran as batik from coastal region. Batik Pesisiran has a specificity in terms of material and method. Batik Banyuwangi has an interesting spesificity and become distinguishing identity of batik from other area. This research is aimed to compare batik Banyuwangi characteristic with other batik Pesisiran by literature study method. The result shows that batik banyuwangi has own aesthetics (motive and meaning) comparing with other batik Pesisiran. From technical aspect (material and method), batik Banyuwangi have in common with other batik Pesisiran.

Abstract

UMKM chicken slaughterhouse continues to grow along with the busyness of the community and the dynamics of social life. Chicken meat is one of the food ingredients that gives a very large contribution to the needs of animal protein which is quite high for humans. The Community Partnership Program (PKM) aims to increase productivity and knowledge of the Chicken Slaughtering Micro Business Group in Bulusan Village, Kalipuro District, Banyuwangi. PKM activities are carried out by producing production equipment such as energy-saving chicken feathers and energy storage media with sufficient capacity. This activity has an impact on increasing the productivity of businesses that are developed. In addition there was an increase in business turnover, operational knowledge of the tool so that the operational life of the tool is longer.

Abstract

Masyarakat desa Pesucen kecamatan Kalipuro kabupaten Banyuwangi secara umum memanfaatkan sepeda motor sebagai sarana untuk mendukung segala aktifitas yang dilakukan, tidak hanya sebagai transportasi namun terkadang sebagai sarana angkut hasil kebun dan ladang. Buruknya infrastruktur dan keterbatasan akses ke bengkel service yang cukup jauh membuat masyarakat terkadang nekat memperbaiki sendiri kendaraan yang rusak dengan keterampilan seadanya. Kondisi ini memberikan dampak terhadap semakin menurunnya performa sepeda motor. Kegiatan dilakukan dengan memberikan pelayanan langsung ke masyarakat. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan layanan service gratis sepeda motor pada masyarakat di Desa Pesucen, disisi lain juga sebagai upaya dalam melatih mahasiswa untuk mengenal wirausaha di bidang otomotif terutama jasa service kendaraan bermotor. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan tingginya antusias masyarakat untuk mengakses layanan service gratis. Di sisi lain, mahasiswa memiliki kemampuan dalam melakukan service ringan dengan memanfaatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang diperoleh di kampus.

Abstract

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) in Banyuwangi have a proportion of 99.81% compared to largeand medium industries which amount to 0.19%. The types of bread and cakes UMKM develop along with the busyness of thecommunity and the dynamics of social life. This Community Partnership Program (PKM) aims to increase the knowledge andproductivity of the Micro Business Bread and Cake Group in the village of Pesucen and Kalipuro Village, Kalipuro District,Banyuwangi Regency. This PKM activity is carried out by holding a vertical mixer dough mixer and an automatic heat regulating bread oven. The next step is to carry out production management and bookkeeping training activities as well as operating training and equipment tools. With the support of this activity, it is expected to increase the productivity of the business being developed expected to improve production and management capacity so as to accelerate business development. This development is also expected to be able to open employment opportunities

Abstract

Management has important role in automotive workshop. Small scale workshops usually have a lack ofbusiness knowledge. This activity is aimed to identify tool and working procedure management knowledge in automotiveworkshops in Banyuwangi district. The identification is done by direct survey and interview to 3 workshop owners. Theresult shows that workshops have not applied business management properly. The workshops need practical managementknowledge which easy to apply for the business

Abstract

Cooling  system  is  an  important  part  in  motorcycle.  Its  related  to  engine  performance. Radiatorcooling system can be applied in motorcycle. This research is aimed to get the effect of radiatoroil cooling system in Suzuki Shogun 110 c motorcycle.    The experiment that compare air cooling (standard system) with radiator cooling. Engine is running at1000, 1500, 2000 and 2500 rpm. Temperature measurement is done with K type thermocouple at 3 measurement points which are left side, right side and engine head. Measurement is done 3 times with 5 minutes interval using stopwatch. The result is used to get the  temperature average. The result shows that radiator oil cooling system has effect due to cooling performance. This system has better cooling performance than standard system.

Abstract

Banyuwangi has a potency as a fishery region. At certain season, the fish production has maximum number. Cold storage is a cooling apparatus which can be used to maintain fish freshness. This research is aimed to get the effect of buffle angle due to temperature distribution of small scale cold storage. The research conduct using model of cold storage with 40 cm length, 30 cm wide and 30 cm height. The model made from styrofoam material. Buffle angle vary as 40o, 50o  dan 60o. Volume flow cooling rate vary with fan voltage input as 6, 9 and 12 Volt. Temperature data are taken using K type thermocouple at 4 measurement points which positioned at the center of cold storage. The result shows that buffle angle has effect due to temperature distribution. The most efficient angle is 60o. The lowest temperature happen at 30 ml/s volume flow rate which is 16,3oC.

Abstract

This study aims to minimize the occurrence of air pressure losses in the airflow pipe. The research was carried out by giving the blades varying 5, 6, 7 blades with an angle of 40˚, 50˚, 60˚ in the pipe with full valve, valve openings, ½ and ¼, measurements were made at 3 measurement points using a manometer U in place it in the pipe before passing the propeller and after passing the propeller there are 2 measurement points. The results showed that the smaller the number of blades with the smallest angle, the greater the pressure produced, and the more the number of blades with the largest angle, the smaller the pressure produced
