Abstract

Research regarding firms life cycle have been carried out for years with varying models and different emphasis. The purpose of this study is to test differences of obstacles in each different stages of firm's life cycle and differences in perceiveing the level obstacles from top managers' different individual background by using Olawale & Garwe (2010) obstacles indicators and Timmons (2007) model of firm's life cycle. Data was taken from 831 firms covering small, medium, and large firms in Indonesia which experienced all thirteen obstacles. Findings show significant differences on obstacles among firms that are in different stages of life cycle,which firms in maturity and stability stage tend to experience greater level of obstacles compare to firms in earlier stages. Findings also found significant differences on top manager's education in perceiving firms obstacles, with manager from higher education background shows higher score in perceiving obstacles, while gender and length of managerial experience shows no significant differences in perceiving obstacles.Keywords: Small and Medium Enterprise, Firm's Life Cycle, Obstacles, Survival, Individual Background

Abstract

Industri tekstil dan produk tekstil (TPT) Indonesia masih menghadapi masalah utama yang terkait dengan produksi dan produktivitas. Struktur industri TPT masih didominasi oleh penggunaan mesin yang relatif tua. Tingkat pertumbuhan investasi yang relatif rendah adalah salah satu faktor utama yang diperkirakan mempengaruhi struktur industri TPT. Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi investasi di industri TPT. Model Panel digunakan untuk menjawab tujuan penelitian. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa perkembangan jumlah perusahaan dalam industri TPT di Indonesia terus mengalami peningkatan dari tahun ke tahun. Begitu halnya dalam penyerapan tenaga kerja juga semakin meningkat. Namun demikian, perkembangan volume produksi, ekspor, dan impor industri TPT cenderung berfluktuasi. Hasil analisis model panel menunjukkan bahwa biaya bahan baku di dalam negeri, biaya bunga dan produktivitas memiliki pengaruh positif terhadap investasi di industri tekstil dan pakaian. Sementara itu, biaya bahan baku impor, biaya bahan bakar, dan biaya tenaga kerja (upah) berpengaruh negatif terhadap investasi di industri TPT.Kata Kunci: industri tekstil dan produk tekstil, struktur, investasi, model panel, produktivitas

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) menganalisis faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi kompensasi eksekutif BUMN Perkebunan Indonesia, (2) menganalisis hubungan antara faktor-faktor tersebut dengan kinerja BUMN Perkebunan dan (3) menganalisis hubungan antara kompensasi eksekutif dengan kinerja BUMN Perkebunan. Metode analisis yang digunakan adalah Structural Equation Model (SEM), analisis kontingensi, analisis regresi dan analisis kualitatif. Hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa dari semua faktor yang diidentifikasi, mekanisme keputusan eksekutif, kompleksitas jabatan, skala usaha, kemampuan perusahaan membayar kompensasi, dan diversifikasi produk dan perluasan pasar mempunyai hubungan positif dan pengaruh signifikan terhadap kompensasi eksekutif. Human capital dan pasar tenaga kerja eksekutif mempunyai hubungan signifikan dengan kompensasi eksekutif. Temuan lain dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa skala usaha mempunyai hubungan positif dan pengaruh signifikan terhadap kinerja pelanggan, kinerja proses bisnis internal, dan kinerja pertumbuhan dan pembelajaran. Kemampuan perusahaan membayar kompensasi mempunyai hubungan positif dan pengaruh signifikan terhadap kinerja keuangan, kinerja pelanggan, dan kinerja pertumbuhan dan pembelajaran. Diversifikasi produk dan perluasan pasar mempunyai hubungan positif dan pengaruh signifikan terhadap kinerja pelanggan dan kinerja proses bisnis internal. Penelitian ini juga memberikan hasil bahwa kompensasi eksekutif mempunyai hubungan positif dan pengaruh signifikan terhadap kinerja keuangan, kinerja pelanggan, kinerja proses bisnis internal, dan kinerja pertumbuhan dan pembelajaran.Kata kunci: Kompensasi Eksekutif, Kinerja, BUMN, SEM, Analisis Regresi

Abstract

The objective of this study is to empirically explore the influence of marketing channels and price to rice marketing efficiency in Aceh Province, Indonesia. Six hundreds farmers' households from six districts of rice production base in Aceh were selected for the samples and analysed using the structural equation modelling (SEM). This study has been successfully documented how inefficient was the marketing of rice in Aceh because the farmers still tended to choose higher level of marketing channel with lower marketing performance. The price of rice was unstable, especially during the harvest and famine seasons, despite the government having set up a price policy. This study also found that marketing channels had positive and significant relationship with the rice marketing efficiency.Keywords: Efficiency, Marketing, Prices, Rice Marketing Channels, Price Effect

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperkaya literatur tentang implementasi sistem Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) pada Usaha Kecil Menengah (UKM) dengan meneliti bagaimana pengimplementasian, pengalaman pemakaian sistem ERP di PT. CP, dan dampaknya terhadap pengguna dan perusahaan. Evaluasi kesuksesan sistem ERP dilakukan berdasarkan pendekatan kualitatif dengan mewawancarai pemeran utama dalam pengimplementasian sistem ERP di PT. CP. Wawancara disusun berdasarkan Model Update Kesuksesan Sistem Informasi DeLone and McLean yang memiliki enam dimensi untuk mengukur kesuksesan dari suatu sistem informasi. Dari hasil evaluasi diketahui bahwa PT. CP telah mengimplementasikan sistem ERP dengan sukses karena semua pengguna memiliki persepsi positif pada semua faktor dalam enam dimensi tersebut, kecuali pada faktor kelengkapan. Faktor-faktor kesuksesan dalam pengimplementasian ERP yang ditemukan diantaranya adalah Business Process Reengineering (BPR) yang berjalan dengan lancar, kostumisasi yang sedikit, dan komitmen manajemen tingkat atas yang tinggi.Kata kunci: Usaha Kecil dan Menengah (UKM), Evaluasi Sistem Informasi, Model Kesuksesan Sistem Informasi DeLone dan McLean

Abstract

The main goal of this paper is to obtain the model of fifth level of national qualification framework (NQF) in tours and travel diploma. The soft system methodology  is applied by using some methods. They are analytic network process (ANP), root definition, rich picture, elements and their interrelationships. The experts confirmed the model of fifth level qualification can be obtained, provided that Ministry of Tourism develop the scheme together with National Certification Authority. The approved scheme endorsed by Ministry of Education to be implemented in tourism college. Meanwhile, Education National Standard Body shall issue the guidelines for the scheme. The Higher Education Accreditation Body refers to this scheme during accreditation     process. The college conducts the planning, execution on the scheme based on competence training and assessment. On the other hand student shall proactive  to practice and prove their ability and competencies. The Ministry of labour issuing the recruitment and remuneration guidelines for qualification, while tours and travel companies inform student about the job vacancy.Key words: Assessment, diploma, Level of qualification,scheme,Tours and  Travel

Abstract

This study conducts a comprehensive review of the literature and develops a framework that links among TQM practices, competitive advantage, and corporate performance.The paper provides empirical support for direct and indirect effects of TQM practices on competitive advantage and corporate performance.The purpose of this research is to empirically investigate the impact of TQM practices on competitive advantage and corporate performance. The study utilized primary data obtained from a questionnaire method. 167 manufacturing companies were surveyed in Makassar, South Sulawesi. A total of 114 completed questionnaires were returned as final sample. Four hypotheses have been developed through literature review and tested using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) by software of IBM SPSS and AMOS version 20. The result shows that TQM practices has significant effect on corporate performance and competitive advantage directly. TQM practices has significant effect on corporate performance through competitive advantage. Competitive advantage has significant effect on corporate performance. Corporate performance is more influenced by competitive advantage than TQM practices.Keywords: TQM Practices, Competitive Advantage, Corporate Performance, Quality Management, Operation Management
