Abstract

Conducted a study to determine the concentration of heavy metals copper ( Cu ) on the Red Snail ( Cerithidea sp ) on Sea waters Dumai conducted in May and June 2011. The method used was a survey method , in which the station is purposive determination of systematic sampling at three observation stations . The main parameters measured were cu metal content in sea water , sediments and Cerithidea sp and the level of accumulation of heavy metals Cu . While supporters of the parameters are temperature , brightness , salinity , pH , dissolved oxygen , organic matter content and the type of substrate . Heavy metal concentrations of Cu were analyzed using AAS ( Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer ). The data were analyzed descriptions. The results showed Cu concentrations of heavy metals in sea water range from 0.102 ppm - 0.175 ppm. Cu content of heavy metals in sediments ranged from 1.323 ppm - 3.631 ppm. While the concentration of Cu on Cerithidea sp ranged from 1.264 ppm - 2.592 ppm. Cu concentration of heavy metals in marine waters Dumai has passed the threshold for sea water quality, while the heavy metal concentrations of Cu in Cerithidea sp has not passed the threshold. Biological value of Cu concentration factor on Cerithidea sp ranged from 12.3 to 19.3. This shows the level of accumulation of heavy metals Cu is low.Keywords: Cerithidea sp, Heavy Metal, Copper (Cu)

Abstract

Has been studied to determine the ability of creative thinking and mastery of the concept of students in learning biology class XI SMA Negeri 2 Pekanbaru. Research was conducted in January to March 2011 with sample student is 1 and XI IPA 2 SMA Negeri 2 Pekanbaru. This research is an experiment with a class XI IPA 1 as a classroom experiment and XI IPA 2 as the control class. The parameters used in the study of creative thinking skills and mastery of the concept of students. The result of creative thinking skills can be seen from the tests given to students in grade experiment that is equal to 69.40 with less category, while the control class at 56.60 with less category. The result of student’s mastery of concepts can also be seen from the tests given to students in grade experiment that is equal to 80.08 with a high category, while the control class at 68.29 to the medium category. Student learning outcomes can also be seen from the experimental class at 74.74 and 62.45 for the control class. Based on research that has been done, the model Problem Based Learning (PBL) in teaching biology showed better results in terms of creative thinking skills, mastery of concepts and student’s class XI IPA SMAN 2 Pekanbaru in Academic Year 2010/2011.Keywords: Creative Thinking, Concept Mastery, Problem Based Learning (PBL)

Abstract

Classroom Action Research has been conducted (PTK), which aims to improve the scientific attitude and learning outcomes with the implementation of IPA Biology cooperative learning model types Course Review Horay (CRH) in VIII.1 grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Pekanbaru. The study was conducted from October to November 2011. The study subjects were 36 students (17 male and 19 female). Parameter is the attitude of scientific research, the study (absorption and completeness of student learning), award groups, student activity and teacher activity (as the supporting data). Data were analyzed descriptively. The results indicate that the cycle I mean the scientific attitude of students is 82.25% (enough), the average absorption of students is 81.08 (enough), the thoroughness of student learning is 80.56% (enough) and group awards a super predicate there are 4 groups. In the second cycle the average scientific attitude of students increased to 90.99% (good), the average absorption of students is 89.61 (good), exhaustiveness of student learning is 100% (excellent) and a group award super predicate there are 2 groups. Abstract

Descriptive research has been conducted to determine the activity of learning and scientific attitude of students in learning Biology class XI IA in SMAN I Kuantan Hilir School Year 2010/2011 through the application of learning strategies GGE. The research was conducted in January 2011. The sample in the study were students in grade XI IA as many as 41 people consisting of 31 students are female and 10 male students. Parameters of learning activities and research is the scientific attitude of students in the learning process. Results showed an average activity of student learning as very good. The average score of the activity obtained at a meeting I amounting to 60.36% (poor category), II meeting at 71.54% (category enough). While the average attendance of 80.08% III (both categories), and IV meeting at 85.46% (very good category). The average scientific attitude of students at a meeting I of 55.28% (korigori less good), at the second meeting at 70.96% (both categories), the third meeting of 77.23% (both categories), and at the IV meeting at 87.33% (category very good). From the results of this study can be concluded that students assess GGE very good learning strategies to be applied to learning Biology because it can increase the activity of learning and scientific attitude of students.Keywords: Learning Activities, GGE Strategy, Student Scientific Attitude

Abstract

Classroom Action Research has been conducted on the implementation of cooperative learning model of type Time Token to enhance the activity and student learning outcomes Biology class 32 Pekanbaru VIII3 SMP 2011/2012 school year from July to September 2011. Student activity is an activity or behavior that occur during the learning process which is one indicator of the desire of students to learn. Learning outcomes is the embodiment of the values obtained students through the learning process. Research subjects were 32 students in grade VIII3 SMP Pekanbaru, amounting to 36 students, consisting of 21 male students and 15 female students. The parameters of this study is student activity and learning outcomes. Average student activity increasedat each cycle, the cycle I pretty category (76.6%) whereas in the second cycle category of both (83.84%). Average student activity also increased in each indicator is the indicator to readtextbooks, answer questions, provide feedback, and conduct discussions. The average increase student learning outcomes, this can be seen from the results of absorption and completeness of individual student learning. Absorptive capacity of students was increasing at eachcycle, the cycle I pretty category (75.41%) while in the second cycle of either category (80.27%). Award at the group I with predicate super cycle is obtained in group I, while in the secondcycle with the predicate obtained super group III. From the research results can be concluded that with the implementation of cooperative learning model of type Time Token can increase the activity and learning outcomes VIII3 grade Biology students SMPN 32 Pekanbaru.Keywords: Cooperative Learning Model Time Token Type, Learning Activities and Learning Outcomes

Abstract

Research has been conducted upon students of Biology Education of Education Faculty at Riau University, to find out description on metacognition ability of the students, factually and comprehensively based on the level of the study period. The population of this research is whole students of Biology Education, while the sample is the students of 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, and 10th semester. Metacognition ability comprise of 5 aspect that measured using MSI (Metacognitive Skill Inventory) instrument. Consist of 45 item that been expanded and validity tested at level of confidence by 95%, and interpretated based on decision adapted from Green (2002). The result shows that students metacognition ability based on their level of study period stand at the developing stage and developed very well.Keywords : Metacognition, Students of Biology Education of Education Faculty Riau University

Abstract

Research had been taken to see Student’s Soft Skill Profile of University on Developing Biology Education Program Lecture, on 2010/2011 Academic Year, through March until June 2011. Total Sample for this research is all of the students on the University who were taking Developing Biology Education Program Lecture that consist of 43 students (40 students are female and 3 students are male). Parameter of this research is Soft Skill describe in 7 indicators which are creativity, self-confidence, independent, motivation, critical thinking, time management and team-work. Instruments that were used are Soft Skill score base on the process using the all of seventh soft skill indicators and scoring work performance using 2 indicators from all of seventh Soft Skill. The result of the research shows Soft Skill score base on process is average 67.26% (enough). On RPP and LKS process the average score 65.41% (enough), on Mikro Education average score 62.94% (enough), on media presentation process average score 75.29% (good), and from all of the seventh Soft Skill indicators, the highest score is team-work indicator with average 88% (very good), whereas the lowest score is critical thinking indicator with average score 68% (enough). Soft Skill Profile score on team-work indicator is average 73.72% (enough), on the RPP work performance is 60.91% (enough score), on the LKS is 62.80% (enough), on educative media 85.79% (very good), on teaching material is 85.40% (very good), among two Soft Skill indicators the highest score is critical thinking indicator whose score is 74.19% (enough), meanwhile, the lowest score is creativity with score 73.26% (enough). By totally, Soft Skill Profile of university student score base on process and work performance on Developing Biology Education lecture is 70.49% within enough category.Keywords : Education Program, Soft Skill,
